-We were looking to remodel our basement. I received 2 quotes one from Permaseal and another from US Water Proofing. Both estimates were very close to each other. Drain Tile (US: $5000, Perma: $5000) Water Liner (US: $1500, Perma: $1000) New Sump Pump basin and Pumps (US: $2000, Perma: $2400) Overall US Water Proofing worked harder and showed my interest in getting my business. Permaseal was cheaper for the wall liner but US Water Proofing had a better pump system with 2 storm pro pumps that will run on AC or battery back up. Permaseal had the 3 pump system but only one of those pumps will run on battery.
Description of Work: -Installed Basement Water Proofing System to include: Drain Tile ($5000) Wall Liner ($1500) New Sump basin and 2 Storm Pro-Pumps ($2000)

It went very well. IThey were able to get my job done less than a week after the estimate. Larry noticed only 4 cracks when he came to do my estimate. Emilio, who came to do the job, was extremely polite and professional. He cleaned up after himself (the basement looked cleaner than before he was there!). My only complaint would be that there were 3 additional cracks that were not noted at the time of the estimate, but Emilio found them and repaired them for me (at a lesser cost than the original per-crack price).
Description of Work: I had 7 cracks in the basement adn crawlspace foundation repaired.

The sales person arrive on schedule and had alot of basement waterproofing experience. He gave us good advice and options on where to locate the sump and the price was where expected. We had one particularly aggrevating seepage area and told us that if we removed the paneling from that area and found a crack, that they would repair it at no additional charge. The only problem that I had with the whole process is that he told us that the only site preparation we would have to do was to move everything away from the work areas and pull the carpet back at least 4 ft. We said that they would tarp our furniture and seal the basement for dust and that they would not have to disrupt our finished walls to install their system. This turned out to be mostly untrue. A different person came out for the pre-job walk through. He was very professional, straight-forward, and knowledgable. He told us that in order to get the best results, the bottom 4" of wall should be removed to expose the foundation, not exactly what the salesman told us. He also us that we were responsible for protecting our own belongings and sealing our house against dust. Again, not exactly what the salesman told us. It did however inspire me to tear down the old wall paneling as part ot he prep. The job prep gloss over by the salesman was unnecessary and I didn't like having to be surprised by the pre-job walk through guy. Anyway, when job day came, the 4 man crew showed up first thing in the morning, were professional, and went right to work. They worked very hard and finished the job in about 5 hours. They were excellent. In stripping of the panelling, a previously repaired foundation crack was discovered at the point of persistent seepage and they resealed it at no additional cost as specified in the quote. About 10 days later we received about 3 days of persistent rain and it was music to our ears to here that new sump pump running.
Description of Work: Removed concrete basement floor along 2 walls of our lower level family room and installed their waterproofing system, about 35 ft of drain tiling. Installed sump in laundry room with AC sump pump and DC backup.

The experience was excellent! They came out when we asked. They made suggestions as to what we could do to fix it. Once we agreed to do it, a second person came out and went through the proces so that we knew exactly what was going to happen. They then did the work. It was just recentley done, and now we have no water in our basement. The price was in line with other prices. They were very clear that we were going to have to wait for them to come out because we had a ton of rain.

We called a few contractors based on Angie's List reviews and none of them could come out for at least a week, which was frustrating...but there had been a lot of rain and flooding in our area, so it was understandable. We chose US Waterproofing because of the level of detail they were able to provide on possible seepage causes and solutions and really taking time with us to explain everything. Their estimate was about the same as the others, so cost didn't really factor in. We got an automated reminder call two days before the work was to be done, which was nice....plus the option of calling in the evening before to get a smaller time window (also a nice touch). The two-man crew got here 2 hours early (shocking!) and walked through everything before starting work. I had cleared away the mulch and shrubbery the day before, but they still put down a tarp before they started digging on which to put all the dirt. They discovered another crack just a few feet past the area they were contracted to cover and pointed it out to me so that I was okay them digging the extra few feet now rather than finding out later it was an issue. They came back the next day after the material had dried to backfill the hole. I expected to have a fair amount of cleanup to do (can't believe how much dirt came out of that area!), but they took care of EVERYTHING. They cleaned everything up AND put back the ground screen and raked the mulch I had moved back in place. If you hadn't been there the day before, you would never know anythign had been done! Our only two complaints are (a) the length of time it took just to get someone out to give us an estimate and (b) only one of the crew spoke any kind of English. He was able to make himself understood for the most part, but sometimes it was hard. I had thought there would be a superviser on site or checking in, but maybe I was thinking of another company's quote.

We were having seepage in our basement, not tons of water, but a problem all the same, as we have a finished basement. Shawn (Dennis Leary look and sound-alike) was awesome as he helped me find the places where the water was coming in with a garden hose. No other company was willing to take the time to do this! Kurt inspected the area and got us a date for the same week. The workers were very good even though it took three days to finish. They found a foundation crack while doing the south side of the house. They explained the work and what needed to be done well. I am not sure the price is the best, but everything else went well, so it was worth it. They answered a ton of our questions no matter how many we had. Have not had any water so far!

Called US waterproofing they came to give estimate within a few days. Work was preformed a few weeks later. It took the guy about 30 mins to fill crack. The smell lasted a good week or more later. Also to note that I could not replace drywall for 2 weeks until compound cured in crack. The surface was dry in a matter of mins but it had to cure inside of crack. The tech was knowledable and told me exactly what to expect. The saleman did not tell me that prior. But I guess it would not have mattered.

This is a follow up to a previous submission. My other complaint was that US Waterproofing did not pull the permits, per their confirmation they would. Well two months later they FINALLY resolved this. Apparently the village of Lombard required them to come out (once they questioned the homeowners on why we did not pull a permit) and tear up their work. It took almost a month for them to pull the permit. The reasoning they required US Waterproofing to tear it up was to verify that they followed the permit guidelines. So we were forced to keep the basement tore up for the two months until they completed the work to the inspector's approval. So at the end of the day. The work was excellent. The sales team was excellent. The prework (seeing if the village needed a permit) poor. Follow-up poor. Professionalism could be improved by returning phone calls. So after they did the work the village inspected the window well drains. Guess what...their permits require 4 inch pipe and they installed two inch. Originally they wanted them to tear those up also (four) and put the correct ones in. So they had to schedule time to come back again. Two more weeks later we called the village and they closed the permit as complete. They did not replace the pipes. We are not complaining. Would I recommend them....yes. But the buyer needs to follow up to see if they pulled the permit before the work is scheduled. Call the village/town/city to see if they pulled the permit. Don't take their insistence that the permits were pulled.

We apologize for the miscommunication. Unfortunately, many villages / towns change their codes; much isn't written and instead left up to the discretion of the inspector. The village didn't have a problem with the main job we did (the Drain Tile System); they only wanted us to change the size of the pipe of the window well drains, which was a small part of the job . In the end, the inspector approved what we had originally installed, as it has worked for us in countless other situations without failure. We try to take a conservative / practical approach with our customers. Some villages can have a tendency to "overkill" things.

We have water leakage in the basement when it rains in winter when the ground is frozen (or have an exceptional downpour). US Waterproofing came out to give an estimate for repair. He spent time looking for a foundation crack or some evidence of water entry from outside, even under the soil line. Then he checked the basement. Unfortunately, he found nothing. His recommendation was to call back when we removed the entertainment center which previous owners built into the wall. Evidently there is no way to check if the leak is coming up from under the foundation without removing the drywall. So far, we're not that desperate

They told me that they would mail me the quote, and I never received it. I received a letter in the mail that thanked me for getting the quote, and asked if I wanted to go ahead with the job. I called them and told them that I never received it, and they sent me one out. I called them in the Spring twice, and no one answered. I called again and left a message when someone finally answered for the sales person to call me back. He called back later in the day, and I wasn't home. So then I called him back and I got a voicemail. His voicemail said it is easier to reach him by e-mail, but I didn't want to ask questions over e-mail. I then decided not to use them. I thought if this is how they treat me before I have them do the work, how will they treat me during?

I had the metal side of a window well pull away from the foundation, allowing water to fill the window well and leak into the basement. The salesman was easy-going and explained the need for the extra step of the added gutter system. It's cost was about $300 of the price. It was rainy season, but he got a crew scheduled for the next week and they completed most of the work in a day. However, it took almost two weeks to make and install the new window-well cover. As the drainage system and seal were working well, this did not cause a problem, but they made several calls pushing back the date of delivery of the well cover.
Description of Work: Expanded and excavated a window well, resealed window-well connection to foundation, installed an extension to the gutter system to strain out leaves and prevent rainwater from weakening and re-breaking the seal, built and installed a new window-well cover.

Very professional estimate experience. When work was performed, the installers somehow managed to cause a leak in our utility sink that required a plumber to repair. When I called US Waterproofing the day after the work was performed, the customer service rep said the worker's denied there was a problem which was interesting as my husband, I and the two installers all discussed the leaky sink before the guys left the house. I had to put a stop payment on my check to ensure I received a refund on the plumbing repair costs. That took about two weeks to get resolved. That said, since the pumps were installed and the window wells piped we have had no water in the basement and are happy with the eventual outcome.

Salesman was pleasant, no hard sell. Worker was also pleasant, and the crack is sealed, but the material used to seal the crack seeped out on the floor, on the wall, and at the top under the window. It hardened and now looks pretty messy. It will require a hammer and chisel to even out. No one explained that this would happen.

Estimate guy was awesome. very helpful, right level of detail, no pushy sales job. Window well covers were done while we were gone, nice quality, strong, seem built to last. sort of expensive (they were a little more than half the total price) but worth it. I had screwed around with trying to get covers from Home Depot and Lowe's and Menard's, none really fit or were good quality. the crack repair went find. workman was professional and did the work and cleaned up. strongly recommend U.S. Waterproofing.

He came in, looked at my basement, looked outside, and said it was going to ask a problem. He then asked when my husband was going to be home so that he could explain the situation to him rather than to me. Estimator Told me to run a hose around the outside of my house to check for leaks and email them results. He stated the price would be based on how much work they had to do. Emailed results and told them 2 leaks founds. I asked for estimated and never got a response. Two days later, I phoned US Waterproofing's main number. Operator told me they would contact the rep who came out to my home and tell him that I wanted an estimate. Still no response a week later. I had used US Water proofing in 2001 with no problem, I guess things have changed. My time is too precious to chase them down for an estimate. I am presently hiring a competitor
