My husbamd amd I were concerned about flooding in our basement and hired US Waterproofing to take care of any seepage. They were prompt and efficient, but at first, the repair did not work so they repeatedly came out until the basement was completely waterproofed. The owner personally saw to it that the work was completeld satisfactorily.
Description of Work: We hired this company to waterproof our basement before remodelling. The owner went above and beyond to see that our basement was fully taken care of so we did not need to worry when the next rainstorm came. This company is superb. I would recommend them to anyone wanting a thorough and competent repair.

I had to babysit this team. I had some sump work done on my basement where, if I had not been there, they would have drilled in the wrong place... basically behind a wall was planned. Had they asked/checked before digging, this wouldn't have been a problem. Then when I corrected them, the crew didn't want to do the extra digging required to do the job right. I had to call their assessor out to order them to make it happen. Then, they tried to install a window well that was too small for the window... Once again, had I not been home, they would have installed it. Thing is, you've got to watch the crew... If you don't, you're at risk of shoddy job! Simple as that. Finally... The clean up was horrible. There was no regard to my original landscaping... They ruined a portion of my lawn. Good luck!!

I met with the sales guy who prepared the quote. And then an inspector person came out to meeting with me to discuss where to put the sump pump and to see the space so we could address any challenges. The inspector person then schedules the waterproofing and communicates with the foreman, but he is not on site during the job. They request that you move everything at least 5 feet away from the walls, which was a bit of a hassle and required some prep on my part, but I'd rather do that than pay to have them move everything. Overall, I was pleased with the quality of the work. It took only two days. They came with a small army of about 6 guys, arrived on time, and cleaned up pretty nicely. Because they were breaking up concrete, I was prepared for my house to be completely covered in dust, and it wasn't at all. They did a nice job of controlling the mess. They unloaded the debris through one of my basement windows (with my permission) to their truck. The first day, I was advised to leave the house because the jackhammering is really loud. The second day, I worked from home so that I could sign the papers when they finished. We got a 1-year financing deal through the company which has helped out a lot. At some point, the latch on our screen door that they were entering and exiting out of broke - which is annoying, but if that's the worst of it, I'm okay with that.
Description of Work: I had a partially finished basement that I am planning to refinish, but there was enough seepage, that it needed to be dealt with. I demo-ed the basement myself to save a little bit of money and had US Waterproofing and PermaSeal come out and give quotes. PermaSeal seems to be a little more buttoned up and more thorough in their assessment, but we went with US Waterproofing because of the quote. Both have a lifetime warranty. US Waterproofing installed interior drain tiles around the perimeter of the basement which involved breaking up about a foot of concrete from the wall. They also filled any "visible" wall cracks (which I saw the guy doing - basically just slapping some goop over the cracks) and they installed a dryliner along all the walls so that if any other cracks do exist, the water just runs down the dryliner into the drain tiles.

Description of Work: I called US Waterproofing for a quote on a sump pump and drain tile for my new home. Seeing that there was no water damage, the representative told me that he would not quote me anything. He told me to wait until a good Spring storm to see if anything comes in and then I could call them back for a quote if I even had any water come in.

Very professional firm and does excellent work.
Description of Work: I had them put in a new sump pump, a battery backup sump pump system and waterproof (repair) a crack. The worker was excellent and very punctual as well as very knowledgeable and professional. He answered all of my questions and even informed us of potential future problems so they could be solved at a later date. I would very highly recommend this firm. They are not the cheapest out there but their work is top-notch.

We had unexpected problems when the city sewer broke and water flowed into the area opened to perform the waterproofing.. This was not from anything US Waterproofing had done. The city made the problem worse by not responding for about 4 days. There was a problem when the workers applied tar to my water table stone trim. All in all, I have to say that the company did everything to remedy the situation. The manager on the job, Enrique, was always courteous and did everything possible to correct the problem. I feel that US Waterproofing is reputable and will stand by its reputation.

I was satisfied. The walked around the house and reviewed everything. They were very professional. They were very knowledgeable and they gave recommendations. He was here on time and maybe 5 minutes early. I liked their recommendations and professionalism. I was going to have some other thing done and he explained that it wasn't necessary. He said it would just drive the cost up for nothing.

I contacted US Waterprrfing after researching in Angie's list to ind a solutoin. The sales person came and briefly looked at the crawl space and came up with some estimate in his note book. The price seemed to be in line with other contractors. And the suggestion on solution seemed to be sound. But the way the person was doing was to get a quick sell and close the deal on the spot. I declined to make an immediate decision and requested to send me a written proposal. He quickly finished the conversation and left as if the used car dealer does if he could not close the deal on the spot. I have never received the written quote. They had a good marketing brochure and I though they were reputable company. I went to another company and had them do the job.
Description of Work: We had four opening holed in the foundation in the crawl space where rain water runs into crawl space. They need to be filled and some solutions ned to be taken to deal with drainage after the opening holes are sealed off.

We love them. They were great. They did some other work for us too. They did a very good job. You can call them and they send whoever is near your house. The prices were very good and both the projects done by them were great. We have no complaints about them at all. We had one little issue and so we called them. They came out right away and handled it right away. So there was no problem. I highly recommend them.

I had 3 people come in to give me a bid. They did a good job. I haven't had any more leakage through that crack. I wasn't home when they came. I went with them because he said there was just one crack that needed to be filled and filling any others would just be up selling at this point. He was not trying to get me to spend more money. I am going to call them to get another quote for work in my basement this spring.

Things went poorly from the initial estimate. The estimator said some wall studs (2x4's) would have to be removed, but neglected to mention that we would be responsible for removing them, because US Waterproofing's insurance no longer allowed them to remove studs, because they didn't want to accept the liability. (The estimator did manage to scribble an almost illegible note on the estimate that we were responsible for removing the studs.) So when the first crew came out to apply the sealant to the crack, the studs were still in place. They said that wouldn't be a problem, and proceeded to apply sealant around the studs. This failed to stop the leak. It was while talking to their warranty dept. about the failed first application that I was informed that the removal of the studs was our responsibility. I had the studs removed and (five days later) a second crew came out. They arrived close to 5pm, and obviously didn't want to spend the necessary time to do the repair job properly. They did a superficial patch job, and left. This, again, failed to stop the leak. (Two weeks later,) A third crew came out, once again tried to fill the crack. Once again this failed to stop the leak. (Two weeks later,) A fourth crew came out, and finally managed to seal the leak. I believe the estimator intentionally neglected to mention that we would be responsible for removing the studs, as that little bit of information would have probably resulted in us tossing out their bid. It's like . . . if you have two estimates for someone to repair your roof, and one says, "We'll take care of everything, start to finish," while the other says, "You have to remove the gutters, because our insurance doesn't want to accept the liability if we remove them"--which company would you go with? The estimator's deviance started a chain-reaction of incompetence that cost us over a month of headaches. I would not wish this company upon my worst enemy.

We reviewed the file and seem to have a difference of opinion with this customer. It was clearly marked on the contract to remove the 2x4's. This is not something typically a basement waterproofer would do. We also went back multiple times for no additional charge and found there were additional problems.

We were looking to remediate some seepage that we discovered in the unfinished portion of our newly purchased home. Ken B was our sales representative, who did a rather poor job of representing his employer. When Ken arrived, he ignored my in-laws, father and wife completely, speaking only to me. It goes a long way to introduce yourself to your potential clients. That's Sales 101. This was his first mistake. During our walk through and evaluation, Ken proceeded to proselytize to me, telling me how wonderful his church was and how much we would enjoy their "powerful" sermons. Thankfully, I'm relatively easy going about such things, but his comments were completely out of line for a sales call. As the very extended walk through continued, he noticed a game system that I had and made a comment about how he played video games and loved Call of Duty's realism. He said that "firing head shots at the towel heads" made him feel like he was on the front line. This blatant racism was again, completely out of line for a sales call and certainly wasn't compelling me to give him our business. At this point, I was almost ready to just ask Ken to leave, but in the interest of getting a competitive estimate for comparison's sake, I let the fiasco continue. Looking at our driveway, Ken delivered his coup de grace. Mind you, there was no reason for us to be looking at our driveway or for him to be commenting on the quality of our concrete. US Waterproofing doesn't sell driveway repair! At any rate, Ken cheekily noted that the poor quality of our driveway's installation was the reason we had so many pits. He blamed "Mario and Luigi" contractors who take shortcuts in their work. Again with the racism! And this time, I took particular offense. I just couldn't believe his gall. My last name clearly indicates that I'm of Italian descent. What was he thinking? Quite obviously, he wasn't. Fortunately, our decision not to work with US Waterproofing was easily made, as their estimate came back many hundreds of dollars higher than some of their competition. Needless to say, we elected not to give them our business. I can only hope that the rest of their sales staff does a better job than good old Ken. *UPDATE - 1/24/11* I had a great conversation with Matt, one of the VP of US Waterproofing on 1/13. While I stand by my statement above, I feel that my experience was not likely to be representative of the way that the company strives to do business. Moreover, I'm satisfied to hear of the steps they've put in place to ensure that a situation like this doesn't happen again.

I called 4 Angies List A-rated companies to come give me estimates to fix a seepage problem in my basement. Once we opened up the drywall, we discovered that our house has a block foundation as opposed to poured cement. The first two companies that came out wrote me estimates to add drainage tile and a sump pump because you can't fill cracks in a block foundation. Bob and Barry from US Waterproofing were the third company to come out, but the first ones to go outside the house to look for an reason we were getting the seepage in the two places in our basement. Sure enough, it turned out the water was coming in exactly where we have two downspouts from our gutters. They ran my hose down one of the downspouts for a few minutes to test whether there was an issue with the drainage pipe. The pipe did not fill and overflow above ground, but after water ran for a few minutes, it did start leaking into the basement. Which meant the drainage pipe must be backing up underground. They also took a look at our gutters (just from the ground) and determined we were in desperate need to gutter cleaning and possibly repair in a few places. I knew we needed to clean out our gutters, but hadn't connected the dots between the gutters and the basement. In the end, they gave me the name of a reputable plumber to rod out the drainage pipe and a company to come clean and fix our gutters. All they asked was that I email them when everything was completed and let them know the end result. Assuming these repairs resolve the seepage problem, US Waterproofing will make no money off of this. If we do continue to have water in our basement once we've taken care of the problems with our gutters, I haven't lost anything because the repairs need to be done anyway, and US Waterproofing will be the first company I call to come out and look at putting in the drainage tile and sump pump. These guys potentially saved me thousands of dollars by helping me identify the root of the problem. They were incredibly professional, respectful, and knowledgable. I appreciate that they came in and made recommendations based on what would be the right thing for me to do for my home, as opposed to staying within the scope of the services their company provides. I am beyond happy with this experience and would definitely recommend US Waterproofing to anyone!

Ben came out and gave me an estimate for $6100. Then he said he would give me a company discount and do it for $5490. Then he gave me another discount and said they could do it for $5000. Too bad he didn't continue. This was to install a drain tile system on one wall of the basement with a sump pump and battery back up. I had several estimates, and U. S. was by far the highest. I had the work done by another company for $3100. Same work, same guarantee, and they did a great job.

He called to tell me he would be late. He was polite. He did not want to bend his knees and give me an estimate for concrete in the crawl space. He liked the idea of a pack-up battery and wrote up the estimate accordingly.
Description of Work: Did not address why I scheduled the estimate. The worker decided I needed a back-up battery for my sump pump. While talking he noted how busy they were (is that my concern). I road the waste of time out rather then tell him a second time that I was looking to use my crawl or storage.
