I called US Waterproofing because I have an issue with hydrostatic pressure that causes flooding in my basement when we get a lot of rain. It's an unfinished basement. I called US Waterproofing to get an estimate. Their salesperson was prompt for his appointment and took the time to thoroughly examine my property and basement to put together a water remediation plan. He took the time to answer any questions that I had--which were many and very specific. I was very pleased with the service and the solution that was proposed, but had to make a financial decision that unfortunately puts the work off for a later date. I will definitely be calling them back at a later time to fix the problem!

It went very well. They arrived when they said they would and spent the whole day working on the job. All workers were professional and polite. Although this was a very messy job, they left my basement very tidy and clean. We had to do some dry shop vacuuming to get up the rest of the cement dust, but overall, it was less dusty than I expected. So far, so good, as far as water seepage is concerned. Their work is guaranteed to the next owner, should that be he case. I am very pleased with the whole process.

They were excellent in their assessment of our problems, responsive to our needs, and prompt in addressing the problems. We would definitely recommend them.
Description of Work: Did outside waterproofing a year ago in one corner of our basement foundation, digging a trench and installing a rubber type skin. That solved the major portion of our seepage. They also I injected an expandable solution in the foundation at the front of the house to largely control seepage there. They returned this Spring to add to the injected site to better control that seepage. Our issues are largely resolved. May need one more touch up area but I all very pleased.

From estimate to job completion I felt very comfortable with US Waterproofing. Our sales rep. (Chris) was extremely knowledgeable and helpful in choosing a solution. He assessed both the exterior - rainwater from the whole neighborhood drained to a low point next to our house and had no way to exit, which caused hydrostatic pressure against the foundation and in extreme situations the window wells filled with water - and interior situations and also took the time to make sure there was no permanent foundation damage. Chris proposed comprehensive solutions to all problems and assured us that there was no permanent damage thus far. While we chose another service provider for the exterior solution -because we wanted to do substantial other landscaping at the same time- I would have gladly given US Waterproofing the job as their solution and pricing were both very good. We had US Waterproofing do all of the interior work. The crew showed up on time and worked diligently and completed the job in two days - which is pretty amazing given the amount of work that had to be done. They did a great job keeping everything as clean as possible (any time you're using a jackhammer on concrete it is going to be dusty), worked very quickly, and took care to work around all of the fixed obstacles in the basement. All in all they did an excellent job. My experience with US Waterproofing was excellent and I gladly recommend their services.

The work was necessary as a result of the heavy rains in April which caused flooding in our basement. Due to the timing and so many people being affected in this area, we did have to wait several weeks to get an appointment, and then another few weeks to have the work done. But once I did have my appointments scheduled, everyone showed up on time, and I felt that all of the company representatives (estimator, project manager, crew) were professional, knowledgable and easy to work with. The installation itself involved drilling about a foot of concrete out around the perimeter of the basement floor. They then had to remove the debris, fill it in with the drain tile, and pour new cement. They also added an additional drain near the door. The job took most of the day and was a bit noisy (as expected). Also as expected, this process generated a lot of dust, but I was very pleased with how well the crew managed to clean up after themselves. An overall good experience!

My primary issue with US Waterproofing was responsiveness. Overall, they fixed my problem and the work appeared to be done professionally - so no issues there. My issue was how my job was treated once I signed the contract. US Waterproofing has an excellent marketing department judging from their television commercials and website. After you schedule an appointment, they send you an email that includes a video introduction of the salesman coming to visit you. It is really quite impressive. After I signed the contract, it took about a month an a half for them to actually begin the job. While you will read a number of complaints about that on this site, I understand that we had a really wet spring/early summer, so this wasn't that big of a surprise. Both the salesman and project manager said that my job could be done in anywhere from "4 hours" to "definitely less than a day." At this point, all is still good in my book. I took August 6th off from work so I could be home during the demolition of my front stoop and installation of the membrane seal. After waiting until 9:00am, I called US Waterproofing to ask when to expect their arrival. I was told they were not coming until the afternoon, as they thought they could finish the job in that time period. Fair enough. I would have liked to know that ahead of time, but okay. They arrived at approximately 1:30pm and worked until about 4:30pm. We were told they would have to come back the next day to finish. This was not what I was initially told, but not the end of the world. On August 7th, as of 3:30pm, I had no idea if they were coming back or not as I had not heard from the Company. I called their 800# again and was told they had a "big job" that was taking longer than expected, but they would be out. They arrived at 4:00pm and worked for a good 45 minutes and left. Again, the job wasn't done and they would be back the following day to finish. The following day (August 8th) came and went with the crew never showing up or me receiving a call explaining the situation. I called the 800# at 5:30pm trying to find out what the situation was, however they were closed for the day (despite their recording saying their hours were 8:00am to 6:00pm). I called the next morning (August 9) to demand an explanation. I was told by the person on the 800# that there was a mix up with another "big job" and that I should have been called and told about it. Could they come out on Saturday (August 10) to finish the job? Also, they couldn't do the inside basement work until August 15th - would that be okay? So, my "4 hour" or "less than a day" job ended up lasting five continuous days, as well as an add on day later the following week to complete. What makes this disappointing is the complete lack of communication and transparency by US Waterproofing. If they knew this was a possibility, they could have easily told me the job would take a few days to complete. But no, they were in "sales mode" trying to get my business, so the job would take only a short amount of time. This situation is disappointing since everything looked so promising with the company early on. Again, I think the actual work they did was a solid job - their communication is awful. All of this could have been avoided if they were honest with me about timing up front. Also, at what point does a job become a "big job" that warrants priority over the smaller ones? I thought a $2500 job may give me some priority, but I guess not. They really want those $20000+ foundation overhauls to help take care of that marketing budget. I am not saying to avoid US Waterproofing - just come to a clear understanding as to the timing expectations and repercussions of what happens if they are not met.

We apologize for the inconvenience we caused and are currently reviewing the situation so we improve. There are unknowns with basement repairs (and construction in general) causing delays that are sometimes out of our control. We are a very conservative company and look to sell big jobs instead of small jobs. We do appreciate the compliment about the quality of the work.

We have not heard from this customer since we installed the work in January. If there is a service issue we'd be more than happy to return and repair the work under the terms of the warranty. With this specific job, the customer didn't choose to waterproofing their entire basement so there is a possibility there is another problem outside the work area

A few days before the drain tile install a mason came and bricked in the window of the window well. On the day of the install three men worked at our house. One man spoke english, the others not so much. The men removed a basement window to carry out the broken pieces of concrete. They shut the door to the room in which the drain tile was installed to keep down the dust. We had to remove tile prior to the install. The men were able to drill within the space provided. The install went smoothly. The village inspector came during the install to approve the work and at the end to check to concrete. We were approved. We got the drain field extension out into our front year. We were told that the cover would be able to mowed over but now their are small rocks around the pop up cover. Not a big deal but different than we expected. Anything to keep water out of our basement. US Waterproofing was a great company to work with. We made the estimate appointment on line from their website. Chris came out to do the estimate. Seemed to know his stuff. He was very responsive to our emails. Nick was the project manager who came out before the install. He too was very quick to respond to questions. I would have liked him to stop in on the day of the install to check on things. The men who did the install worked hard. I wish we were told ahead of time that they needed to take out the basement window but it worked out. The final village inspection found that the men had not sealed the exterior pipe to the house. They returned within a few days to fix that oversite. Overall we are pleased with the work of US Waterproofing. I would recommend them to others.

I had been recommended to this company by a friend that had used them to seal a crack in his basement and was very pleased. The estimator looked over the entire basement and pointed out other minor cracks that were not a problem, rather than just going to the problem. The contractor (1 person) came out when they said they would (afternoon window), performed the work in just over an hour. He explained what he had done, what we would experience (yellow sealer expanding out of crack and at top of foundation). He also gave us instructions on how long to let it dry before trimming off the plastic extensions that were used to pump the sealer into the crack. He cleaned the area up completely. We haven't had a leak since, and we've gotten an immense amount of rain in the past week. Very Satisfied!!!

After a recent storm, we had flooding in the basement. I called US Waterproofing and asked them to send someone to check their work because the crew cleaning up the basement thought that they may have done something wrong based on what they saw. After several attempts to schedule someone to come out, I finally received a call back from one of their managers. He asked me what my concerns where over the phone, and then quickly had an answer for why US Waterproofing did nothing wrong. Frustrated that he was not willing to come and inspect the work, I filed a report with the Better Business Bureau and that prompted a response. The manager then was willing to come, but all he did was quickly glance at the work and had reasons why they did the job correct. When I asked him how deep the drain tile was, he said one foot deep. I then had another company come and repair the sump pump and add a backup sump pump. They suggested that I add cleaning ports so that the drain tile can be cleaned every 3 to 4 months. I agreed and once they dug the section they were going to install the first cleaning port, we saw that the drain tile was literally under the 2" to 3" deep concrete that was poured. So the drain tile was not 1 foot deep like the manager said. I call US Waterproofing today, June 11, 2013 to informed them we were miss lead, and the lady from the warranty department said I was wrong. I was not possible that the drain tile was only 3' deep because it has a diameter of 4". I explained that I was talking about the top of the drain tile 2 to 3 inches and even if you add the 4 inches that meant the US Waterproofing installed the drain tile 6 to 7 inches deep only and not the 12 inches their manager stated. It appears that US Waterproofing does not take responsibility for their work, and are quick to dismiss complaints over the phone. The person on the phone was telling me I was wrong, even though I was looking at the proof and had photos I could email her. Their field manager was the same way, he wanted to dismiss the concerns I had without stepping in the house.

Although the waiting list for an estimate was very long, the solution provided would more than amply fix the problem. Steve came out and thoroughly investigated the foundation and the area that flooded. He then provided a thorough diagram of the solution and an incredibly comprehensive folder that showed exactly what each part of the process would look like, which was incredibly helpful when explaining the diagram to the condo board.

It went very well. The people were professional and responsive. It was done in a reasonable amount of time, considering the increased business from the recent heavy rains. The installer was on time and done in two hours. He cleaned up very well and replaced the soil on the outside. Terrific experience. I would certainly hire them again, even though the cost was rather high. I'd rather have a company I can be sure is going to be around if I ever encounter any problems than a lower priced company that might be gone in a couple of years.

The salesman arrived at the house on schedule to provide an estimate. I had filled out an online form to schedule the estimate, and I provided details of the issue. I did not get the impression that he had been provided a copy of what my form explained. We moved to the basement, and I provided some history of the home and the problem. I walked him to the points where water had been entering as I explained that the house does not have drain tile or a sump pump. He stopped in his tracks and said, "Well that's what you need: drain tile." I knew this. I tried to turn the conversation to assessing / repairing cracks in the walls, but "drain board" were the words he repeated a couple times. I asked for details and learned that water might continue to enter the walls, but it would be directed to the drain tile, so I shouldn't worry. Frustrated with an apparent lack of interest in hearing me out, fully assessing the problem or any finding additional problems, I asked whether external excavation and repair was an option. He brushed this off as too expensive and promoted the internal drain tile solution. He did not seem interested in inspecting the exterior for cracks in the foundation and wanted to go directly to interior drain tile as the perfect solution, as he promoted how many US Waterproofing had installed. Overall I was disappointed in the way the conversation went. I cannot say the salesman was impolite or unkind, but he was rather disinterested in meeting my needs beyond the most obvious solution. The verbal estimate he provided was average, neither outrageous nor competitive, at about $8200. The financing options were attractive, and the lifetime warranty offered was essential. I might have considered the company had a different approach been taken by the salesman, because interior drain tile IS the right solution. However, more care and attention, and much more practical knowledge of the job at hand, would have made a difference. He might have been able to recover from a bad start, but I can't put all the blame on him. He is not a contractor doing the work, and he selected the right solution. I was just not sold on his pitch and I was looking for a comprehensive approach to making a dry basement. I did NOT want 'managed water penetration". I want a dry basement.
