It went great. This was a very honest man, who would rather do the estimate right which means waiting until it gets warmer than to charge me for labor that he might not potentially end up completing....to me this is worth a lot....
Description of Work: Jerry came to my house on time and was attentive as I described my problems-leaks into the basement. For one item he directed me to a tuckpointer as it was an area he was not experienced to do. Unlike another contractor who wanted to start cutting into dry wall, Jerry preferred to do a "Hose test" to determine if the source of water was due to a leak/crack in the brick above the foundation or the foundation itself. I really appreciated his approach of determining the source of the leak before diving into work that might potentially need to be completed by another contractor. (US WATERPROOFING) does not do work on above foundation problems .

Their service technician was courteous and professional. He explained what he was going to do, did it, and cleaned up. We haven't had so much as a drop of water since, even during the big storm in June 2013 when our area received about 6" of rain in a 24 hour period.

The estimate by John Heavey was very straight forward and we appreciated his going straight to the problem and recommending the best way to fix the foundation cracks, which in this case was to dig out the foundation from the outside at the site of the cracks and follow them to the footings, then to fill in with material that would seal them from the outside as water reached that area from rainfall. It was recommended to repair from the inside only if the exterior repair did not completely resolve the leaks. We had another thaw followed by heavy rain the third week of February that tested the repair job. We are very pleased to say that we had no leakage what so ever. Not even a little seepage that we were warned might occur. They gave multiple reminders of the appointment and showed up on time. The total time to do the job was just a few hours and the gentleman that did the job in freezing cold weather did an excellent job and explained everything once he got the cracks dug up as well as cleaned up after the job. I cannot be more pleased with the result that we have gotten so far.... and we are very happy that we did not need to go through the nightmare of pulling down paneling and moving heavy appliances that would have been necessary if the exterior repair did not seem to work. I would use US Waterproofing again and would recommend them for anyone that is struggling with who to call and get estimates for waterproofing.

Ben, the US Waterproofing representative, showed up on time and was very friendly. He took a look around our basement and then showed me all of his findings and thoroughly explained all of my options. He was extremely helpful and knowledgeable (he even found two additional cracks and evidence of moisture that another provider I got an estimate from had NOT found). He walked me through possible causes for various issues and answered any and all questions about solutions. I immediately scheduled the service appointment with them based on Ben's level of knowledge and the time he spent explaining everything to me. They ended up sealing six cracks, two pipes and replaced our sump pump and battery backup. They cleaned up (basement was cleaner than before they arrived!) and were very friendly. I would highly recommend this company.

Work was begun as scheduled, but time was lost do to lack of communication with the village Inspector concerning the thickness of gravel required here and the time that the inspector could actually come. Thus, what was supposed to have been completed in three days, took five. As I was cleaning up the basement over the weekend, I noticed water on the floor around the water meter and shut-off valve, so I called my plumber and my project's supervisor. Both came right away and agreed that the cement floor excavation in that area had damaged the pipe and caused the leak. U.S. Waterproofing agreed to pay for the repair, and did so. I chose U.S. Waterproofing over other companies that I had come in to give me estimates specifically because I would have a Project Supervisor come before the start-date to make sure we both understood the job to be done, and to stop in frequently to see how things were going and communicate with the workmen. While this company's estimate was a little higher than others, no one else offered the same kind of service. It proved valuable to me. The whole job ultimately cost $1000 more because I had to pay a plumber to disconnect and move my laundry equipment and take down an old cement laundry tub, as well as a carpenter to take down and replace some paneling in a finished room. If I don't get water in my basement anymore, it will all be worth it.
Description of Work: They installed 120 ft. of interior drain tile around the perimeter of the basement, a sump system with an underground sump discharge extension to the back yard, and put in a new below-grade cement floor with drain outside the basement entrance. All debris was removed, including the 6" tall solid cement platforms that my washer and dryer had been sitting on.

Went well. This is the 3rd time I have used US Waterproofing at 3 different homes. They have always done a good job for me. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again. The second time I called them, I thought I had an issue with a basement window well. They pointed out possible causes and told me what I could do to fix it myself because it was outside of their services. That is always the mark of a trustworthy contractor.

However, there were about 5 guys digging in our front yard for a drainage system. One of the guys I caught peeing in my front yard, my neighbor had called me while he was doing it and I went outside and saw him quickly pull his pants up. Everything was marked with flags for the underground lines were, but our line to the light post in our front yard was cut during the process. I was understanding that this was something Julie does not mark because it is not attached to the house, but the guy who was in charge that day said they would have someone contact us the next day and they would cover this. Well one week, 2 weeks, 3 weeks went by and we have a huge hole in our front yard with yellow caution tape around that was left undone and no electrician ever called me, despite multiple times calling U.S. waterproofing, finally I got a hold of the electrician that the guy recommended and they stated that U.S. waterproofing gave them the wrong phone # and that is why they were not able to reach me the last 3 weeks. After the electrician came out and put in the estimate to repair it was $1,200, well U.S. waterproofing didn't want to pay that even though they were the ones who recommended them. After contacting a lawyer the U.S. waterproofing decided to finally sign the contract of the damage and I could FINALLY schedule the electrician to fix the broken line. Well, now it is Thanksgiving time and it was a very rainy season and then it got to be under 30 degrees which is too cold and with the ground being frozen the electrician can't dig more with a wet yard or a frozen yard. Ok so today is January 6th, 2014, and I STILL have a hole in my front yard because U.S. waterproofing failed to follow through like a professional, now our project won't be done until spring! I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO ANYONE!!
Description of Work: The first guy that came out to assess our property was very nice and thorough so our first impression was good.

I felt that they took advantage of the fact that we had already bought the deal and were "on the hook" to give us a high quote. They ended up lowering the original quote significantly since we said we would walk away if they didn't since the quote was too high. We finally agreed upon a price and they sealed several cracks in the basement walls. We have not had a problem with those cracks since then.

They were the top companies that have found on Angie’s List. They’re the only honest company that told me I do not need it. I thought the estimate for the window liners were a little steep. He actually took time out of this weekend to answer some of my question that he doesn’t even have to do. Out of all the companies I got for basement waterproofing, he was the only one that went outside to look at the problem. He told me everything that I needed to fix, where I can get it. I called him twice after that and he answered every time.

I had two very punctual and courteous people come out. Both were very thorough but the first one thought it best to bring in a guy with more experience in these matters. He came in and after a long look referred me to another provider (He felt it was a bigger job than they were capable of completing.) after telling me that he would send me a list of engineers. He failed to do that and after repeated unsuccesful attempts to get the list I gave up. It's a shame that they spent the time and effort to advise me and couldn't do the simple thing. Nobody like to get blown off. Further insult was that the company they referred me to also blew me off. D. Pate and sons (see review) wouldnt even return a call. Skip it.

We apologize we didn't meet the customer's expectations on this. We did provide the names of other companies for this customer but can't take responsibility for them not calling back as we are not affiliated with them. We simply recommended them as the work this customer needed was something we couldn't provide and we thought the other companies might be able to help

US Waterproofing spent a considerable amount of time evaluating my worsening basement seepage problem and provided a very detailed drawing and description of the proposed work in addition to the cost estimate. The work consisted of: -the excavation of a trench around the perimeter of the interior of my basement, as well as a trench down the center -the installation of a gravel bed and perforated pipe in the trench -installation of a sump pump and connection to the drain pipes -concrete patching of the excavated areas -installation of gutter extensions to all of my gutters and burial of the extensions 10-15' away from my foundation. The work took 3 full days. The workmen were prompt each day, arriving usually around 8 am. There was a crew of about 5-6 and they did a great job. They cleaned up completely, took all of the debris that was generated by the job away with them, and were polite and responsive throughout. I had to be away from home several times during the work and had no worries whatsoever about leaving the crew working while I was gone. The whole process from estimate through completion was excellent, especially since water problems can be so stressful. I would recommend US Waterproofing to anyone having water problems in or around their house.

Barry Schilling came out and quickly assessed the leak we had during the rain storm on 4/18/13. He listened to the observations and conclusions of other contractors and tested their accuracy against his initial conclusion to let us come to our own conclusion. He was patient and thoroughly answered every question we had, no matter how minor or significant. He was at our property twice before we decided to choose U.S. Waterproofing. The job was scheduled and the team of two men arrived on time. Barry was there to walk them through the job first thing in the morning. Except for the custom window well coverings, the job was completed on the same day and they were careful to clean up after themselves. They had a lot of digging to do, and the fact that the temperature was in the 90's did not seem to slow the process. The covers were done separately and were installed by the end of the week. Shortly after the job was completed, we had another strong rain and saw water in the basement in a different place. Barry came out and helped us to identify the nature of the leak which was completely unrelated to the leak that they fixed and had to do with some poorly designed enhancement to the foundation done by the previous owner of the home. Barry was extremely knowledgeable, patient, and willing to make suggestions about how to address a variety of problems we had identified with our home. He let us know exactly what to expect all along the way. He was very pleasant and professional throughout the progress. I would not hesitate to work with him and the company again and would to recommend them to anyone who had basement leakage.
Description of Work: Removed window well liner, dug larger opening for new window well, installed and sealed new window well liner, cleaned out window well drain and installed new gravel, installed new window well drain, installed pvc pipe from drain to sump well, removed old sump pump, installed new sump pump, installed two custom window well covers

Barry Schilling created a game plan so that I could complete the basement waterproofing project in phases. Based upon Barry's recommendations, and in coordination with US Waterproofing's services, I contracted to get shrubs removed, some new landscaping done, and an old concrete walk way removed and replaced. After that was completed, new gutters were added to the roof. The final phase involved US Waterproofing getting the downspout drains trenched to get the rainwater drained away from my house. When I had an issue with a contractor, Barry contacted the supplier and addressed my concerns with a positive outcome. Barry also took a paint color sample from my house and matched the paint to cover up old paint which was revealed when the gutters were rerouted. He went above and beyond my expectations in customer service and integrity. I was able to proceed to get the work completed with confidence because of the many examples of work Barry provided from a variety of projects. Barry excelled at following up on the many phases of the project to completion.
Description of Work: US Waterproofing provided consultation regarding the water seepage into my basement. I worked with Barry Schilling, and he made several recommendations to get the water drained away from my home. US Waterproofing added trenched drainpipes following the addition of new gutters and downspouts to keep the rainwater away from the basement.

I was cleaning out the area near a stub out in my unfinished basement wall which supports the 2 story fireplace and noticed a long floor to ceiling crack in the basement concrete wall. When it rained the crack was leaking some water. into the basement. I used the US Waterproofing web site to schedule a visit by one of their technicians. He came out as scheduled and reviewed the situation. Even though my crack problem was obvious, he did check around the rest of the unfinished basement for other problems. I had otehr cracks but they were not leaking and no repair work was needed on them. The technician was able to give me a price quote and the work was scheduled for a few days later. The repair worker came as scheduled and plugged up the crack. The crack filler material he used even came out of the ground on the outside of the basement wall-so it was a pretty big crack. They use a sealant "cover material" to keep the crack filler material from coming into the inside as it expands to fill in the crack. I re-graded the area on the outside of the house at that part of the foundation so the water no longer ponds there. I was very much satisitified with their work. I really like their scheduling tool on their web site..

They installed 2 underground down spouts to stop the flooding, but it didn't work. The sump pump drainage kept backflowing into my window well and back into my basement. I had the project manager come out to see the issue, and he suggested a few things I could do to stop the flooding. I did the things he suggested, and it still flooded. They had me buy a back-up sump pump, as well, which seemed unnecessary. They refuse to claim any responsibility and still haven't sent me a receipt for the purchase. I had a plumber come out, and he cut the down spout, which stopped the flooding immediately. He connected the PVC piping so that the sump pump discharge would flow out into the yard, which corrected the problem. I was very unhappy with their service and how they didn't take responsibility and that they kept trying to sell me more things. Update 3/11/14: The backup sump pump no longer works. All the lights on sump pump do not light up any more. I felt the solutions offered were not thoroughly investigated to determine the root cause of flooding. As a single woman, I felt that US waterproofing took advantage of my lack of knowledge and kept requesting $1000's of dollars on solutions that did not have an end. When just by chance a professional plumber was at my house and saw what US Waterproofing did and immediately cut the sump pump drain spout and he stopped the flooding in the basement. This licensed plumber is willing to testify in court about US Waterproofing.

We have tried to resolve this customer and certainly willing to honor our agreement with the customer if she is not satisfied. We don't take advantage of our customers as evidenced by our 57 years in business and multiple Angie's List Super Service Awards. The customer has a new problem at her window well which we offered her a discounted price to fix (in addition to the warranty / previous work - which we'll gladly fix if there's still any issues). We'd be happy to send out a Manager to try and resolve this issue. Any work that is covered under warranty we will make sure to resolve.

I was given one price when they came out for the estimate. It ended up being more than I thought after they completed work. They found more cracks during their work than what the sales guy found. They did reach out to help resolve any issues. I think knowing the exact price before starting the work is important than knowing who you are going to use and it allows you to make a judgement before knowing which company to go with. If I did use them again, I would want to make sure they are clear with everything before starting the work.
