I was not thrilled with waiting 10 hours for someone to come out. I called at 8 AM. I received the email saying between 845 and 1245 and no one came until almost 7 PM so I spent most of my day with no water on the bright side, the gentleman that they sent out Did an amazing job. He was polite and professional, and he done his job extremely well.

Got a call at 7:30 am stating serviceman will be there in a hour. He showed up at 9:30. All I needed was to have the pipe under the bathroom sink connected which took a whole 10 minutes and I was charged a service call fee of $325. Then the guy decided to tell me about putting new flooring in my house, I shouldn't be watching QVC and I shouldn't have my debit card out of my purse in my house. The kicker was when he told me "I can tell what kind of person you are by looking under your kitchen sink". That is not something to say to a customer. I would never recommend this company again.

Overall satisfied with the service I had with those I spoke with from beginning to end. The bathtub was backing up and draining very slow, and when the kitchen faucet was running, dirty water was coming up in through the bathtub drain. The lady I set up the appointment with, sorry I forgot her name, was so kind and pleasant to speak with over the phone. I appreciated receiving a call ahead of time when the plumber was on the way. I appreciated the free inspection and them coming out on a Sunday evening. The price was a bit high but we figured things out. The plumber, Joshua was also so kind and resolved the issue with the drain pipes within a short amount of time.

We had Roto-Rooter out 6/30 to replace our main sewer line. While excavating they hit our main water line in. They did replace it by running a new line in, but left the old line, uncapped, open on both ends. With flash floods recently this allowed mud water to pour into our basement. Thanks for giving groundwater easy access to my home. Complete negligence.

I placed a service call to unclog the bathroom pipe. First technician named Max came in and informed me that the pipe is clogged and he needs to open the toilet to fix it. After trying to open the toilet for 30 minutes he informed me that he does not have the right tools and skills to open the toilet and a more experienced technician will come to fix it. 2nd technician named John came and informed me there was no need to open the toilet and Max should have fixed it through the tub drain. I asked for lower fee as now the work is less and no need for toilet disassembly but he said that I have already signed the paperwork and no I have to pay for $550 just to put a rod in the pipe. I agreed as I did not have a choice and I needed the bathroom to be fixed. John informed me that everything is good and I paid the service fee. Next day I noticed the water drips from the roof. John again came in and cut the rood in couple of places and informed me that the toilet is leaking. John said that he needs his manager approval to perform the repair free of charge and I need to call them on Monday. On Monday I called again and explained the situation and I was told that the work is covered under the previous contract and the technician should not charge any money. Technician came after 2 hours and started asking for $520 to fix the leak. After several calls to the customer support and the corporate, they refused to fix the leakage unless I pay $450. This is simple fraud. You come to somebody house, cause a leakage, and refuse to repair it. I am left with water damage, roof damage, and now I am working another company to fix the leakage that was cause by unskilled technician. Worst company to work with. Don't recommend anybody to use it.

I have worked with literally dozens and dozens of plumbers over the years that I managed large properties in the Bay Area. I moved to Elk Grove two years ago, and purchased a house. Today we developed a leak in the waterline that connects to the refrigerator for the ice machine. There were two small pinhole leaks in the line itself. Since it was late in the day, and a simple repair I decided to call Rotorooter just to get it done. I spoke to Dawn at the company and the very first question I was asked was whether anyone in the house had symptoms of Covid. I explained that we had been home bound since last February as someone in the house is elderly with a respiratory illness and we had to be very careful. I asked if her plumbers were tested, and she said yes. She shared her Mother-In-Law had just passed from Covid, and she understood. She took extra time to let me know she was making a note that the technician must wear a mask, glove and boots. When Joshua arrived it was without mask, without gloves, and without boots. I asked about his last test and he informed me he had never had one. He then proceeded to check my leak, and informed me he couldn't fix it and was unable to shut the water off to it. Huh? It's a standard waterline. He did attempt to get on the floor and turn the off valve but was unable to complete that mission, and he couldn't get down on the floor, and was wheezing (sans mask) at the time. At that point I said that's enough.

Both plumbers, (the first came on Sat. was a intern plumber) were clean, and polite. The plumber on Monday was also clean and helpful. He changed the disposal and that went well. He did give us a price before he did anything, which is good, but it still seemed a little steep to me.

My issue isn't with their service but rather their outrageously high rates (non-emergency). $495 to unclog a kitchen sink with a time estimate of 1.5 to 2 hours. That's a criminal rate even at 2 hours, yet even though they were able to complete the job in under an hour, the final price was still $495. Do yourself a favor and hire a local plumber who won't rip you off. As I had to leave for work and was going out of town the next morning, I didn't have the luxury of shopping around. Calling Roto-Rooter because they were a household name and easy to find was a huge mistake on my part, and one that I won't make again.

I scheduled a time for them to come out and was given a four hour window. THEY NEVER SHOWED UP. I received a call after waiting 3 3/4 hours and the caller acted like I didn't even have an appointment. I told him I had been waiting for hours and he said "we don't have a tech to come out" REALLY they couldn't of told me that sooner. My time was wasted and I am very dissatisfied.
Description of Work: help with a drain that backed up and flooded my basement
. Our sewer drain was backed up so based on the generally good reviews, we called Roto Rooter to come out. They would not give an estimate over the phone, but as soon as the tech got here, I showed him the cleanout located in the basement and he quoted $495. That sounded high, but since they were there and I had found a $55 coupon, we went ahead. The tech started with a wider blade but then switched to a narrower blade to make the rodding faster. Then a second person surprisingly arrived with a camera to scan the pipe. He showed that the pipe was corroded and after about 10 feet the picture went black. He explained the camera was covered with sludge so we could not see. He ran the camera (including locator) to the main sewer and claimed the line was full of sludge and could only be cleared by installing a clean out. To install a clean out with a sewer line 9 feet deep and to jet clean the line, they quoted $8900 and could come out the next day. We thought that seemed unusually high, but since Roto Rooter is rated highly and thought of as reputable, we figured that was a reasonable cost. In hindsight, that was a big mistake. The next day two guys came out with a small excavator and dug a 4’ by 8’ hole about 9 ‘ deep and installed the cleanout in 3-4 hours. It was not nearly as big a deal as they made it sound. Also, the drain pipe segment that was cut out about 20’ in front of the house had corrosion but nothing like “full of sludge” they claimed. This leads to me believe that the clean out was not even necessary. The previous day the techs did not run water to see if the blockage was cleared, or if needed, use a wider blade, to make sure the clean out was really needed. I feel we were deceived and rushed into having the clean out installed and way overcharged for it. After I complained, the best Roto Rooter would do was to refund the $440 rodding charge. I am not close to satisfied and hope sharing my experience will bring awareness to others. I would strongly encourage getting other quotes before using Roto Rooter The work was done at the end of July. A week or so ago in late September, we noticed the sewer backed up enough for some water to come out the drain and then go back down. It was not clogged like the first time but it did show me that putting in the clean out did not totally resolve the problem and there is still some blockage from the house to the sewer pipe below the house.

Price was absurd for less than 30 minutes work. Tried to sell me a new garbage disposal even though the current one works just fine, because it is "old". Made excuses for his inability to totally fix the issue because of a "bad design" even though it has worked fine for 20 years. Would not use again. plenty of other options.

Although the salesperson was nice, and this was the only company available for an emergency call, the service was horrible, the problem never fixed, and a hole the worker cut in the kitchen ceiling remains after a month.
