Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

had to reschedule 3 times because they did not show up in schedules time period. Did not call.

Excellent service by Manny! He came on time, walked us through the process and the benefits of using Roto-Rooter and performed the service as discussed while going above & beyond to make sure that we were satisfied. Will definitely use Roto-Rooter in the future and will ask for Manny again.

Technician arrived around 4:00pm. He gave me a quote of $475 to rod the line. When I told him my last plumber had charged way less ($325) he said the best he could do was $400 with the camera free. The camera guy would have to come later. The rodding went fine. He spent a good amount of time cleaning. He was very courteous, clean. He didn't seem overly knowledgeable though because he thought the line was running in a different direction and was way off in the estimate of where in the line things were plugged. The camera guy wouldn't have been able to come until 8:30pm so we rescheduled that part to Sunday. On Sunday the camera guy canceled and said he could come Monday. When he came on Monday things started out fine. He gave us a verbal quote to fix the line for good which was about $7000 more than previous quotes. He was rude when I questioned the quote and went into salesman overdrive. It took him almost two hours to camera the line and write up a quote for line replacement and a clean out install. He also broke a piece off of our washer when he had to move it. 1 week later he said he is still waiting on approval to order us a replacement part. I don't know how they have an A+ rating here. Their quotes were incredibly high. The camera technician was condescending and unprofessional. Mixed review. Be careful.

Scheduled an estimate to replace a water heater. Because they weren't able to give me the specs of the water heater they would provide, just a flat rate on the heater and install it was difficult for me to compare with other quotes provided. I ultimately decided not to go with them because I got a bad feeling when they mentioned having worked in my city before but didn't seem interested in complying with city regulations requiring permits. Do I like needing permits for everything? No. But I'd rather do it how they require than face penalties later. When I expressed my reservations based on previous issues with the city, they agreed to the permit as long as I completed the process.

They came out to rod the toilet line. To start with, they didn't have the right equipment; the tech got the rod stuck and couldn't get it out. He called his supervisor, who came out and got the rod out of the toilet but said then informed me there was a broken pipe in the ground. This was determined by using a camera system, but they couldn't get the camera in well enough to get a good look at the pipe-line. The supervisor took me into the garage and showed me scraps of toilet paper that he said had been leaking form this damaged pipe. It needed to be replaced and he would give me a great deal, $3500, if I signed up with him immediately. I declined thinking that the price seemed a little high. I called another local company to come fix the problem and replace the broken pipe. They came out with the right equipment, rodded the toilet and quoted me $1500 to dig up the ground and replace the pipe if needed. They dug the hole and the pipe was not broken. What this also means is that someone planted material that was apparently "leaking" from the broken pipe. I've used Rota Rooter in the past and they have repeatedly tried to price gauge me. This company will take advantage of you very quickly when a local, reputable plumbing service will do the work better and for a legitimate price. I wish now I'd reported them to the BBB.

They did a good job. I would use them again.

Crappy - asked customer service what it would cost. She said we can't determine cost until tech comes. Failed to disclose 195.00 for tech to step foot in door. Literally plugged a plug into the wall.. another tech had unplugged. Instead of showing some mercy and for the sake of future business and cutting a brake. Left the house to make a call came back said 50.00 I handed a credit card, he said do you have cash or check? Shady.. I said this is all I have, said that's ok .. proceeded to take 15 min to take that payment. Didn't take time to cover feet, had a very dry personality. I would not call this company again.

Quoted $459.00 each for kitchen and basement washtub replacement. That was without cost of new faucet. Charged $45.00 for estimate,and online said was no charge to Angie's List customers.

It went well. They did a really good job and the gentleman was so professional.

I want to give 5 stars but can't. In late May I had a water leak. I was told a guy with a camera would be out later. I thought when a man with a camera to check on how much damage the water did to my interior came by the next day that that is what they meant. I had walls and floors removed in my laundry room, hall,powder room and family room. Now in Aug. I had the same lwak. When they came out the original plumber had a camera with him to see into the toilet line. That is what should have happened before per the tech. Now he found a bent pipe. This caused me to file a second insurance claim and to pay their cost up front and to pay a second deductible. If the proper person with the right camera came the first time this could have been taken care of all at once with one claim, one deductible and one demolition of my home. By the way, the repairs were just completed 3 weeks ago for the first claim so I barely got to enjoy my home being put back together before a new catastrophe hit. In the past they would be my first call, now I am not so sure.

Andre #8971 came out surveyed the issue I told him I was having, gave me a quick and reasonable estimate and got right to work. He did an awesome job, working through the pouring rain and kept working on clearing my sewer line until he was sure the roots were clear. He was professional and courteous and would welcome having Roto-Rooter and Andre back for any other plumbing needs that I have!

They did a great job - in addition, they identified a couple of potential problems that they also cleared!

This job was completed soon than had been anticipate and was was done very professionally. System is working well and I have no concerns.

8/1/16 HORRIBLE. I couldn't even get them to come to my home. I called on a Saturday morning and was told a plumber could not come by until Sunday between 12-4pm. I wait all day only to call at 4pm and be told "oh, sorry, we had you down for Monday". I would never agreed to that. Then I'm told I will be placed on a priority list and that they could come Monday between 5-7pm. At 5:01pm they called to reschedule. I hung up on them, called another service and not have to take the day off from work. Exactly what I was trying not to do.

The plumber came and said yes it needs to be replaced. I told him I already had the replacement and just needed to be installed. He said it is normally $450 to install but I can do it for $350. I told him I was not expecting this price. Maybe closer to $100 since I already had the replacement. He sent a text to his manager and he said they approved $200 but that is the lowest. I told him no thanks and I would get a quote from another company. I ended up installing it myself with youtube's help. It took 20 minutes. What a ripoff!

I used Roto Rooter previously without issue to rout two floor drains in my 6 unit building. Called on 5/17/16 and scheduled service for 5/18/16 between 4 - 8 pm to rout a third drain (other drains are clear and the 3rd drain connects to one of the two). At 6pm, I called to confirm service and was told the techinican was working another job but service was still schedule. At 7:45pm, I called again and was told the techinician was trying to get his truck fixed. No service on 5/18/16. On 5/19, I spoke with a manager, communicated my concerns about lack of responsiveness and rescheduled for service for 5/20 between 4pm - 8pm. Was asked that if my schedule changed to call. I called on 5/20 and change the time to 8am - 12pm. Received a call on 5/20 at 8:30am from a tech with a quote of approx. $535 per hour to clean two catch basins (not the scope of work communicated when scheduling). When asked how he was able to give a quote without seeing the issue he indicated that he lived in Yorkville. Requested he contact his manager and that I be called. Roto Rooter indicates in its advertising that they do not give quotes over the phone. When I called on 5/17 requesting a quote this was reiterated. When I spoke with the manager, he stated that they sometimes give quotes over the phone. His explanation was they also schedule "hydro" services for commercial buildings because they don't know what they are going to have to do. This doesn't make sense to me when 1. I indicated where the blockage is. 2. I indicated the distance to be cleaned and 3. I confirmed that was not a blockage between the other drains and the catch basin. Won't use again.

We were shocked at how badly they did. We had water come up in the basement two weeks after they had been here where they should have cleared the lines and it was clogged as can be. We called an emergency plumber. He came and said that Roto-Rooter did not begin to do what needed to be done. He told us that Roto-Rooter are not plumbers. They are guys who have three days of training and they just send them out. So, we are not going to call Roto-Rooter again.

Every step of the way they kept me well informed of what was going on. There was some very major root blockage in my home drain leading to the city pipe, which they were able to chew through with a bladed line. I was very happy to see a video feed of the my line, once they cleared it out. They discussed all options with me for further maintenance. Very professional and polite! I highly recommend!

I called Roto-Rooter because there was a sewer backup into my house on April 9, 2016. I arranged to have a technician come out to clean out the sewer line. The technician arrived on April 10, 2016, cleaned out the sewer line of debris, and used a video camera to make sure the line was clean and found a section of the sewer pipe that was damaged. The technician provided an estimate for the excavation, removal and replacement of the damaged sewer line and details on what to expect. The technician also provided the information for Roto-Rooter to remove and clean that damaged area from the sewer backup. The lead for the cleanup team arrived on April 10, 2016, took pictures, and arranged for a team to remove the damaged portions of the house and clean the affected area. The cleanup team arrived latter and worked to remove the damaged flooring and completed this task and cleaned the floor on April 11, 2016. The excavation team arrived on April 12, 2016, dug the trench to get to the damaged pipe, removed and replaced the damaged section of sewer pipe, arranged for the city engineer to inspect the work to make sure the work was up to city code, added a new sewer clean out access point, and replaced any dirt that was removed. The excavation team placed pieces of plywood on the ground to protect the ground for when they replaced the dirt. Each person was knowledgeable about to expect and how the process works.

I called on a Sunday, and they arrived within a couple of hours. I had tried everything to unstop my sink, but I needed a professional. They cleaned out the pipes from the basement, told me not to throw coffee grounds in the garbage disposal, and that was that! Quick, painless, and my sink drains well now. Excellent service!

Excellent - Manny was very informative and helpful. Fixed the clog very quickly. Clean and efficient service, very professional. Great service, I would definitely use this service again. I called for a plumber at 2pm and the drain was fixed by 3:30pm same day.

I have used toto rooter in the past as they are fey convenient. I called them to fix my leaky sink and they charged me $230! I asked the dispatcher what the minimum charge for a visit was as i knew it was a quick fix and she stated there were no immunity charges. Then the plumber showed up and said the minimum was 1 hour which was $230! I might re-think my career choice and become a plumber!

Kyle and his assistant removed the downstairs toilet, rodded out the clogged main drain and replaced the toilet. This turned out to be a rather lengthy process, as the root cause of the problem turned out to be a sheared off sewer line just outside of the foundation. Kyle was able to removed the clog so that the main drain would flow and got his field supervisor over to video inspect the outside sewer line. Once the sheared off cast iron pipe outside the house was confirmed by video, a excavation crew was scheduled for the next day and arrived on Sunday morning. This will be covered in another review. Kyle and his assistant did an excellent job in an emergency situation to help alleviate the clogged and backing up sewer problem we were experiencing.

Matt and Jesus showed up on a Sunday morning to begin excavating and to repair our broken sewer line in the front yard. They removed landscaping bushes, as necessary, very carefully and dug the hole and opened up the drain enough so that we could use the system again while they got the necessary village permits the following morning to complete the permanent repairs. They returned the next morning with the permits and re-cored and replaced the broken cast iron pipe going through the foundation wall, very close to the incoming water supply line. They did this work carefully so as to not damage the incoming water line and then constructed the new permanent PVC replacement piping and added an outside cleanout. They passed village inspection later that day, backfilled the hole and replaced the landscaping bushes best as could be done at this time. They left the front yard and basement clean. I was very impressed by their professionalism and quality of work.
