Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

They were supposed to do a rotting job and they would not give me a price over the phone. They came out without talking to me and gave the amount to my tenant which was $400.00. He dropped the price to about $200.00 because I refused to hire and pay the original price. They also had me sign a waiver that they are not responsible for any damages. He doesn't charge anything and he tore a hole in the plumbing while rotting. He did not offer to fix the hole he created. I had to file a claim and he refused that he ever came out. I had to hire another company to complete this project.

The toilet was removed and replaced without incident. The main drain was cleared and the backup was resolved.

Two men came on time in an unmarked service van and identified the plumbing issue and gave me and gave me an estimate on the repairs. They than said I needed to pay them like $100 for the estimate. I told them the ad said free and they said that this charge would be deducted when I had the service performed. I said I specifically asked about this when I called to make the appointment, but when two larger foriegn speaking men are in your house what are you going to do so I put the charge on m credit card. I called Roto Rooter and after several tries and "transfers" they said someone would get back to me. No one did and 48 hours later I called and left a message for the general manager. I received a call back from a customer service rep and they said they would investigate the issue. 48 hours later they called and said they would reverse the charge on my credit card. If I had not made several calls I don't think I would have gotten my money back and this whole thing felt like a scam even though I believe Roto Rooter has a good name. I am pretty sure the men they sent to my house were sub-contractors for them and I didn't appreciate being charged for my "free" estimate. Beware of this practice!

He explained in clear terms what caused the breakage, and installed a new, higher quality pump. He was, clear, professional, reasonable, and kind.

Horrible. They did not repair and refused to fix.

On Thursday morning the technician came out, said he couldn't get his rod all the way to the house, so he called his field supervisor to come out with a camera to take a look and see what the problem was. The supervisor , Greg Austin, arrived promptly, ran the camera, looked at the sewer line from inside the house and said our problem was a broken pipe, it needed to be replaced. He said they cleaned out the tree roots and we could use the shower and toilets but not flush down the toilet paper. Then he gave us a quote for the proposed work ($5,300). We wanted to know if we could get a lower price, so we called two other plumbers. The first company came out that same night, ran the camera through the sewer pipe, and informed us that the sewer still had roots in it and that we didn't need to replace anything. So we called roto rooter first thing next morning. they sent out another plumber that evening who couldn't do anything without charging us Again! On Saturday the company sent out the first plumber, Greg Austin, to finish the job they started, But he just tried to tell us that our problem was the broken pipe and not the roots. Needless to say he didn't do anything that day. Sunday or Monday we couldn't get a hold of anyone at Roto Rooter, and no one bothered to return our phone calls ( we left a message). Monday afternoon a third plumber came out and told us that the roots are still clogging the sewer line, and we don't need to replace the pipe... All we wanted was to get what we paid for - a sewer pipe without roots. I guess the Roto Rooter's new policy is hire employees who will do their best to defraud a customer. What a waste of time and money! We are having the sewer cleaned tomorrow by somebody with higher ethical standards, professionalism, and integrity.

The plumber showed up on-time and quickly assessed the repair. The initial price was $100 over another estimate. I showed him the competitors offer and he closely matched the price and I allowed him to complete the job. I had not used the other company and really wanted to have a company I knew but at an affordable price.

It turned out just fine. One person completed the work. It took him almost 20 minutes to finish the work. He left the area very clean. He's very professional and he's just a nice guy.

It was just pretty straight forward. I called them up and they came out within a couple of hours. The guy set up and was gone probably within not even like 30 to 40 minutes.

It worked out fine. The price was okay. It was a little more than I used to pay for cleaning my drain with the old guy. The quality of work was fine. They came right away so their responsiveness was good. They came when they said they were going to come. The kid was pretty good. He was a nice and decent boy.

It worked out okay. They had to come back twice. Three different people came out. The first time they came out, the two gentlemen looked at the job and said, "You know, we better get a plumber. We don't wanna do the cleaning out of the drains", so they called a plumber and the plumber came out. He did the cleaning of the drain and it was fine but when he fixed the sink in the kitchen, it was still leaking. He left and then a few hours later, the leak was still there, so I had to call them back and another guy came out and fixed the leak. The plumber, the first time, spent maybe an hour for the service. They left the area clean and there were no problems about that. They came and fixed the leak rather quickly. This was my first time using them.

They did call back and said their plumber was not available. We tried to reschedule twice that day, but their plumber was not able to come. out. They came out this morning at 9 am. When they came, their pricing was very expensive. It was going to be $350 for toilet install, $250 for garbage disposal install.

There was a hair clog in the tub which tied into the washer. Once the hair clog was removed the washer drained. The sink was clogged but mostly because the garbage disposal was stuck. He routed out under the sink (which I'm not sure really needed it). Overall everything was fixed but $600 for an hour and 20 mins!??? Really?

Called Roto Rooter based on Google advertising. What a mistake. Perhaps there are some good technicians with this company but the guy (don't remember his name) they sent me was a joke. They only temporarily fixed the clogged drain issue by running the auger 5' in my drain, taking 15 minutes, and charging $350. Of course the drain clogged again shortly after and I called a local plumbing company, Arrow plumbing who ran a proper sized line through my sewer line approximately 100' all the way out to the sewer main. Arrow also did this for much cheaper than Roto Rooter. If you need plumbing services, don't look to these guys with techs that are barely trained and who charge for all the hidden advertising and administrative costs. Call your local plumbing company.

I called 800-768-6911 on Friday, November 18th and spoke to Jen. I scheduled an appt for Saturday, Nov. 19th between 10-2. 30 minutes later I get a call from Larry, field supervisor who states he knows I am waiting for a plumber but he will get someone out there as soon as he can. I inform him my appt is scheduled for tomorrow. Clearly no or miscommunication. The plumber arrives before 9 a.m. on Saturday but my appt was between 10-2. Please listen to this part - I had already purchased a brand new bathroom faucet and water lines. He quoted my US$350.00 to essentially disconnect the hot and cold water lines (which I would have done myself if I had the strength), remove the plastic nuts underneath the faucet, pull the faucet up, lower new faucet (supplied by client), tighten the faucet nuts, and reconnect the hot and cold water lines. There was absolutely NO degree of difficulty in this task, and I was skeptical the minute he stated the old faucet was cheap because it was a Delta that I paid $79.00 for. I called the field supervisor Larry and told him just what I thought and how I was being hustled because I was a woman and they thought I was stupid. He claims they have set price but I could have talked to the plumber and he may have went down on the price. No thanks... get out of my house as I do not entertain doing business with con artist.

Easy -- replaced old sump pump with a new one in a short time

Roto Rooter had a service person out within 2 hours. The entire repair process took only about 3 hours and since this was emergency service on a Sunday afternoon, we were expecting a very expensive repair bill. However, it was very reasonable and we were happy with the entire experience with Rudy and Roto Rooter.

Expensive but thorough and quick response time.

I would not use this provider again.

Both times I received an immediate call back from my inquiry, and I was able to schedule Sunday service without extra charges. Both reps were professional and prompt. They explained the work, and the price was fair.
