Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

We called for service on our clogged external sump pump drain. Jerry, # 4719, was here in less than an hour. He spent over 2 hours clearing the drain and then told us what we'd need to do to prevent the issue in the future. And the price was a third of what another plumbing company charged us 2 years ago. The $40 coupon also helped. I highly recommend Roto-Rooter.

Naperville Roto Rooter best plumbers we’ve had during 32 years in this house. Plumber Howard and his crew assessed our issues then he clearly explained our options to fix problems. We understood and asked that they proceed with fixes. All problems were fixed and we were given time to review work before Plumber Howard and crew left. He and crew are courteous and have talent to assess a problem and plumbing expertise to fix problem. Get this months later in early January’s big freeze, Plumber Howard came out for a leak we had which he aptly took care of. They were experiencing big call volume for frozen pipes yet RR dispatcher worked us into the schedule. We highly recommend them.

He came on time and he then quoted me a price of $495 but then said he would give me a $50 reduction in lieu of the Angie's List coupon for $30. The drain plug at the bottom of the sink was open and all he had to do was stick the rodder into the drain run the machine, which he did and it did clean the drain. It took him longer to write up the bill then to do the actual rodding. So bottom line is they are crazy expensive and will not use them again.

It went well and in half hour work was done.I waited almost 7 hours for them to show up and they blamed the dispatcher for promising arrival time. Cost was unbelievable for a 7 hour wait and half hour work completed. I felt like I was in an arm robbery,no other option then to give them my money.Won`t call that company any more.

It was horrible. When they removed the toilet to fix the leak there were issues with things not being done. The nails were wrong and things weren't attached correctly. Everything was done incorrectly. They sent the same person 3 times to figure out why it was still leaking. When it was finally dry the tech simply said, "I told you it needed time to dry." They were very unprofessional, and had a complete disregard for the quality of service.

Dispacher did not explain that two different people would be needed. They sent the person for the job that was 2nd priority. Still the person who came was very professional and educated me on my sump and explained how I could do the other job myself which I later did.

They never showed up. We contacted another company who gladly came to assist us in fixing the problem and flooding water.

There was a quote, and then there was what I negotiated them down to, after some very aggressive negotiating. This experience was all based on a technician, which works on commission, which was dispatched to my house. It was that technician that was able to sell the job. It was that technician's professionalism. I don't know that you can speak for Roto Rooter as a company. I wrote up a referral for this particular technician. He got the A's. He had a pricing structure he had to work in, because he works for a company. Roto Rooter, is the name behind the tech. The tech deserves all the credit here. Another tech, may not have scored the same.

They did not routed it all the way out. About three weeks later I found out it was additional stoppage in there. Ihad some issues with them. The quality was good. I had to have them to come back.

OK but price was high for service rendered.

Took two days for a Tech to come out. Found out they only have two Tech's on duty on Sunday. Had to arrange for them to come out on Monday. As far as the Tech - Joe was professional in his work, and would hire him again. The nice thing is you can have the same Tech come back out, which I will do. Price was a little bit high, but had had to get the leak stopped.

Good experience, used the camera to ensure they saw issue with line. Did not charge me extra for using camera and it made all the difference in the outcome. They were proffessional, on time and took the time to handle the job properly. Others had been out over the years and they never used the camera to find the cause of back up. I would recommend them to others.

Highly recommending his services, will not be disappointed! Thank you sir !

They gave a very high estimate so I turned them away.

Update III (6/22/2017): Called Burris and Sons and Mr. Burris was able to permanently resolve my issue for a fraction of the price (about half). Roto Rooters are crooks! Anyone else have a similar issue with them?---I'm wondering if any lawyers would be willing to pursue a class-action lawsuit against them. Update II (3/2/2017): After my follow up visit, I received several calls from representatives. The main person who I spoke with was Tracy. She called me on 2/21, then called back on 2/22 and told me she was working on a resolution and would be in touch. More than a week went by and I didn't hear from Tracy (or anyone else for that matter). So I called Tracy today (3/2/2017). She apologized for the inconvenience and informed me that they would be willing to give me $225 (half) of my total back. She said that they were able to rod the line and I was without sewage backup for almost a month. I complained that this was not what I paid for, or what I expected. I asked if I could speak to anyone else. She said that this had been cleared with the general manager and that I couldn't talk to anyone else. She said the only thing that I could do was dispute the charge with my credit card company. I talked to the General Manager Paul Cecil. He was INCREDIBLY RUDE and combative. He kept repeating that I was without sewage for a month so they did their job. He provided other car analogies that made no sense. I could not believe how I was treated! Please do not use this company! They are terrible. I went with them because of the 6 month guarantee, but apparently that doesn't mean anything. They totally scammed me out of my money. Update (2/21/17) Within one month I noticed that the bad sewage smell returned, and a couple of days later I noticed that I had water again. So I decided to take advantage of that "6 month warrantee" and called Roto Rooters to come back. I got a different guy this time. He rodded for a much longer time than Andre (the previous guy). He also used a camera. After rodding for over an hour he tells me that there's a large root about 7 feet below the tree in front of my house. There's a different process to have that root removed and that would cost me an addition $6,000! I was ******. I paid almost $500 a month ago, now they're saying that I have to pay $6,000! Why would they think that I'd be willing to give them $6000 if the $500 was basically a waste of time. Further, if I don't have that done the water will continue to come up and my "6 month guarantee" is null and void because it only covered 1 visit. Next I spoke to a manager Kris Kauth. He starts telling me that instead of $6,000 I could pay $221 for a PDP where the City would come out and look at the issue and see if they can do something. This option has no guarantees and it's quite possible that the City will say that I need a full clean out on the property (the $6,000) job. Plus the City doesn't move fast so I may have to wait a long time, meanwhile my basement will continue to smell like sewage. I was not pleased at all with any of these options. Kris was very smug and lacking in empathy! When I pressed him for answers about why was I charged for a rodding that didn't work, he told me "I don't know. You have old clay pipes." I asked him if I could speak to his manager. He was very resistant but ultimately gave me the name of the General Manager "Paul Cecil." Stay tuned, I'll keep you updated. Original (written on 2/7/17; service on 1/17/2017): I had a sewage backup in my basement. It smelled awful! I was so sad. I called Roto-Rooter and they came out within a couple of days. Andre #8971 cleared my drain, and I haven't had any issues since. The service was fast and Andre cleaned everything after he was done. Overall he did a great job! I've had this issue once in the past. I payed a lot less for the service but I had a massive cleanup that I was responsible for. While it's more expensive than a local handyman, I am happy that I have 6 month guarantee, and I can call them back if I need to.

Great. Would not hesitate to hire Roto-Rooter and Cy again. Cy gave me the estimate, including the part, allowed me to purchase the part independently, which saved time and money, and did great work. Very courteous and professional.

It went good until I was told and shown via the camera that I had a "bellied" sewer pipe under my basement floor. The next day, I had called someone else come and send a camera through and neither he nor I could see the "bellied" pipe that Roto Rooter had claimed was there. He even poured water down the drain tile that would've been affected, and still no sign of any "bellying." It definitely paid to have someone else look at it since that saved me from having to pay $5300 to have Roto Rooter replace a perfectly fine 6' section of my sewer line!

The technician was able to identify to problem but did not solve it.

They were cordial, professional and knowledgeable.

Overall the company was very responsive, professional and did a fantastic job. The kid they sent out did the work, he unclogged the drain in just a few minutes. They are very expensive though. AND - I didnt realize it at the time but I have since done my homework - since my house is on a slab you should never use a bit or head on the snake you put down the drain. Sure enough the tech who came out used one and lost it down my drain. I think my drain has clogged one other time since shortly afterwards which I believe is a result, in part, of the bit still being down the drain. Roto-Rooter of Mundelein never made this right the bit is still down my drain although I dont seem to be having any further issues after the one subsequent clog. Losing the bit down the drain and Roto-Rooter not making this right is the only reason I rated the service an F - I couldnt rate it any other way.

Plumber did an excellent job. Also showed me the calcium build up in the 100+ year old pipes, which was causing low water pressure.

Okay. I waited 2 days unfortunately....
