Contractor was very helpful explaining everything that would be done and what my options were, and accommodated my fine-tuning of the contract to meet my needs. Easy to communicate with them via phone and e-mail. Job was completed in one 12-hour day. All debris was hauled away including an old satellite dish. End result looks great.

K&S did a great job on our roof and siding replacement. They were patient while we made our choices and gave useful advice. Additionally, the installers were prompt and professional. When I’m looking for a contractor I don’t just want someone to do a job or fix a problem. I want someone who will take care of my house – as good as, if not better than, I do myself. You usually can sense whether you have a winner within 10 minutes of meeting and conversing with prospective contractors bidding on your project. You can tell by the way they look at you and your house, how they speak to you and about your project. K&S General Contracting is no exception in terms of the right fit and right way to earn your business. For our roofing needs, owner Steve Bollinger provided us with a variety of shingle options (we chose architectural style) with a range of prices and allowed us to select the optimal product to fit our needs and budget. Sure, Steve advised us on what was acceptable but he also showed us why we might find it necessary and advantageous to pay a little more for higher quality product. No pressure. Just facts. Once K&S earned our approval for a complete tear-off, Steve walked us through the entire process on site: What Adam and his team were going to do, how they would do it and why they would do something a certain way if they found a problem with any of the plywood decking. Cutting corners wasn’t an option, which we appreciated, taking the easy way to maximize profit or even reduce our budget at the expense of quality wasn’t either. Steve recommended certain types of venting products to ease the pressure and temperature in the attic, the right amount of flashing and ice-and-water shield suitable for Chicagoland winters and rainstorms. One other important distinction worth mentioning: Rather than covering up the lower quality workmanship left by other contractors, Steve and his crew recommended the necessary improvements so that their own high-quality workmanship wasn’t compromised. By the way, our K&S roof is 14 years old, has weathered at least two serious hailstorms without repair and still is going strong.

Excellent! The quality of the work was perfection! The courtesy of the people working on my house was above and beyond . Very respectful of our property, cleaned up everyday. Showed up bright and early as we were told . No waiting around ! Of all the people I have ever worked on my home , by far the best !!

I contacted six roofing contractors over the span of 6 months. Sixth one was K&S. I should’ve called them first. I met with Steve from K&S and he educated me as we discussed my roof project. His price was very competitive but his warranty was by far the best. His crew was cordial and very fastidious as far as the clean-up. Excellent roofing job. I highly recommend K&S.

K&S Construction of Schaumburg is one of the best companies that I have ever encountered. Needing a new roof and having a purchasing background, 4 pages of questions were prepared as 5 of the top rated companies on Home Advisor were contacted and interviewed. Only Steve of K&S was able to answer every question as well as presenting additional data on what K&S would do. Steve's 30 years of actual roofing experience enabled him to professionally and with significant detail present what would best meet my roofing needs. Costs were reasonable and well documented. Work done on a new roof and adding a skylight by the K&S team led by Alberto was professional and met every quality expectation. Clean up was exceptional. When the team left, there was no evidence that they were there. Every one of my wife's flowers and bushes were just as they were before. Workers were professional and courteous. All questions during the process were answered when asked with details that any novice would understand. Katie, the office manager, handled all paperwork in a timely and professional manner. Two weeks after the roof was installed, a micro burst with hail hit our location and caused significant damage to homes, trees, and vegetation. Being out of state at the time, a call was made to K&S at 8 PM to see if they could check our home. At 9 AM the next morning, Steve was on our roof talking to me and sending video of the roof and yard as one 60 foot Oak tree was down. His inspection of the roof indicated no damage as impact resistant shingles had been installed (Steve recommendation). Follow up inspections by 2 other insurance inspectors confirmed the condition and quality of our roof. All other homes (7) in our cul-de-sac had to have their roofs replaced. Steve also came our home for every insurance inspection and insured that siding, gutter damage, and yard damage were properly covered. The customer service after doing a great quality roof was exceptional and deserves a 5 plus rating, TJ, the siding leader of K&S, was invited to address siding damage with cost estimates and general recommendations. The review was very professional and the costs were reasonable. K&S did the repairs and some additional work with a siding team that was professional and courteous. Again, the clean up and protection of plants was top notch. As a summary, K&S is a first class supplier of quality roofs and siding. Both work teams were professional, hard working, and courteous. Customer service has been over the top, especially after the micro burst. Quality of both the roof and siding work performed was first class. As a customer, my opinion of K&S Construction is based on their performance and total customer service. A 5 rating is definitely earned and deserved.

We hired them 5 years ago. We spent close to 100K on them(30K for roof, 30K for siding, 30+K for windows/doors). Everything they did is complete nightmare. They tried to sell me different skylights because they said the ones we had were not made anymore (a quick google search and found them at ABC supply in Villa Park). They didn't flash the skylights so our living room ceiling was ruined from water running in the new roof. They said I must have left a skylight open. We paid 6000 for a thermatrue fiberglass door which they installed improperly. It turns out the door costs 900. The door will be thrown out and replaced because the water coming in has rotted the area around the front door. The 2 sliding doors were not installed properly so you have to yank in to get the lock to close. The cement board siding is falling off the house. All the trim was not installed properly and they used very cheap caulk so water leaked in everywhere causing the siding to pop off around doors and windows. The 3 bay windows were not installed correctly and now we have bees in the tops of the windows and the bottom of the windows are falling off. There is no end to the crappy work that they did. I have lots of pictures and I hope I can post them here. This was supposed to be a GOOD contractor so once I post this review, I plan on cancelling my Angies list cause this was a complete rape job. I thought we could trust Angies list. BS!!! DO NOT HIRE THESE PEOPLE. EVER. Not even to mow the lawn. I am now spending 50K to pull out and fix the crap they did on our house (only 5 years ago).

Terrible. The siding is falling off the house. They didnt flash skylights and caused sever water damage. Windows not installed properly and are failing. Pictures all available. Refuses to refund money. Will be suing

K&S General Contracting Inc did an awesome job on our roof. They were fast, professional, clean and very respectable of our yard and home. The roofers Alberto and team ,and Steve and Katie were so personable, so easy to work with, and so helpful with our decisions. We will definitely work with them again! We love our new roof!! After the microburst, our community was saturated with contractors and companies repairing homes. Some came as far as Texas. K & S General Contracting is a local family run group with ties to the community and its people. We found them to be informative about the materials they use, and pleasant people to work with. Most importantly, their workmanship is very professional.

I received several estimates from roof replacement providers, and did get quite uneasy with all these service providers who needed to see my insurance estimate in order to give me a price. To me, that seems like your not getting the best price. I have to say, turning to Angies list, that practice stopped with Top Rated roofers. I narrowed down to two top providers with several "A" reviews. K & S won on price and good reviews. Less some rain and a squirrel on a previous job that caused a minor delay, everything else was great. Roof looks awesome and got compliments from the neighbors! I would definitely recommend K & S...they gave me "their" price and not the hail storm insurance chaser price. They didn't need my husband with me to estimate my project (which is an automatic deal breaker for me!) and was able to give me a price based on the work...not insurance check! Stay away from the storm chasers! I am very glad I did!

Of the contractors we got quotes from Steve was the one we felt most comfortable with - came onsite to talk to us, explained the process, fair quote and even helped pick the new color. The roofers were no problem - if it weren't for the hammering (required for a new roof) we probably wouldn't have known they were there.

We experienced severe hail damage to our siding and roof, requiring a complete replacement of both. K&S was professional every step of the way in helping restore our home. They worked with our insurance company, and delivered a quality product on time and on budget. TJ conducted a sound initial inspection and gave us a solid estimate with no surprises popping up along the way. The only chang orders that occurred were minimal and were either initiated by myself or presented as an optional add value for aesthetic reasons. TJ and his crew not only restored our home, but helped us update and modernize its aesthetic as well. The end product far exceeded my expectations and I couldn't be happier. I am an Architect, so I say this having experience with both exceptionally good and exceptionally bad contractors; K&S is a top notch company with professional and well trained crews, and one that I would happily hire again.

The job went exceptionally well! The work was started and completed on time and the work site was left clean at the end of each day. All of the workers were very professional and always took time to answer any questions or concerns that I may of had relating to the job. The work quality was exceptional. I have never seen on any other home that I viewed, the trim detail they used on all my windows and doors. I have had many people come to my home since the work was completed by K&S to tell me how beautiful my home looks and ask me for the contact information of the contractor. With all the positive comments that we have received from people about our home, my wife and I feel that we now live in a model home.I would highly recommend K&S to anyone looking for a Contractor who is very detailed orientated and provides services at a fair market price!

I cannot say enough about K&S, and especially TJ. From the day he came out to do the original estimate, through the final walk through he was always in contact and kept me updated. The wife and I had a little issue with our original color choice. When he came out with samples we realized it would not work with our current window colors. TJ spent a ton of time with us suggesting other color combos. He also was very patient while waiting for us (ok, me) to make a final decision. We trusted his suggestion, and could not be more happy. Our house looks great. The crews he had working on the house were friendly, professional, and did an awesome job. They even commented that that like to work with K&S, and being a small business owner myself I can appreciate knowing that they treat their employees well. I am very hands on when it comes to home remodel projects, K&S let me be involved in every step as much as I wanted. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

Excellent work! Respond quickly to calls and messages. They are a fantastic family owned business. TJ was great to work with and his crews performed excellent work from start to finish. We had our roof, gutters and downspouts replaced. Quick, efficient including superb clean up at the end of the job. I would use them again in an instant. I will recommend K&S to friends and family.

It went great, job was done in 1 day. At the end of the job they cleaned up so well you couldn't tell they had been there.

Quick response for estimate. The work was done on time and clean up was excellent. They are honest and will work with you with what you want done. I would hire them again.

Very well. Steve is reliable and personable as is his wife who runs the office.

Problems encountered 1 ) Failed to remove leaking skylights before installing new roof. 2 ) One of the skylight openings that they had to go back and patch has leaked 3 times, they ran water on the roof and could not get it to leak (It has stopped leaking no repairs were done). Will now have to wait to drywall over the openings to make sure it does not leak again. 3 ) They (K & S) covered the A/C condenser unit while it was running on a 90+ degree day causing the compressor to lock up, they did replace the A/C unit although it cost me an additional $3000.00 for a new furnace since due to the age you could not replace one without replacing the other. 4 ) Furnace chimney was pushed over four inches from where it belonged, pulling the joint part way apart in the attic. When Adam came back (late on a Friday evening) to look at it he tried to tell me it was a waist pipe and that it could not be moved, I had to take him into the attic and show him that it was not a waist pipe and that it had been moved and needed to be straightened out. Adam said it was a bigger job then he could do that night and he would be back. The following week when I called K & S to find out when he was coming back I was told he was on vacation for the week and would be out the following week. 5 ) Found that they did not replace all the decking that was required. (A two foot wide section up the front side and down the back side of the roof against the addition wall was not replaced). They shingled over it before the village inspector could inspect it. 6 ) Found that in the section that was not replaced the decking was not supported around the fireplace chimney and was hanging down in the attic. (If you stepped above the chimney you could have fallen through the roof) No one from K & S ever told me that there was a problem with the decking around the chimney. 7 ) When confronted about the decking that was not completed I got nothing but excuses and no answer as to why it was not done from TJ and Steve nor did they ever offer to take care of it. 8 ) On September 1st when I told TJ that I wanted the rest of the decking done since it was required by the village (and paid for) TJ told me that there lawyer told him that since the inspector had signed off on the decking inspection that all they were liable for was refunding the money for the material that was not used, he also told me I could call the inspector to see that he had signed off on the inspection. I called and spoke to the inspector on September 2nd and told him what I found and what TJ had told me. He asked if I had pictures that I could e-mail him which I did and he said he would talk to TJ at K & S. On September 14th the inspector e-mailed me to let me know that K & S would be in contact to schedule a time to come back and replace the rest of the decking that should have been replaced when the roof was open and that he would be out to inspect it before they cover it. 9 ) On September 21st I spoke to Katie at K & S about scheduling the work I requested a different crew since there had been so many problems with the currant crew. 10 ) On October 14th the same crew showed up to replace the decking that they had not done the first time. 11 ) They did not wait for the inspector to inspect the work again before covering it, the inspector had to go into my attic to inspect the underside of the decking. I inspected the roof and found the new shingles are a shade darker and they made very little attempt at blending or hiding the seam were they patched the roof to install the decking. 12 ) On Wednesday Oct. 26 it rained I found water leaking from above and alongside the fireplace chimney (where they just replaced the decking). 13 ) Called K & S on the 26th and left a message that the roof was leaking , got an e-mail back later that day stating that they had a call into the crew and would call me back when they got hold of the crew . Received an e-mail back Friday night that they would be out Saturday afternoon. Adam showed up Saturday afternoon was on roof for a short time and then left (no info on what he found or did), I went up on roof and found that the seam at the base of the fireplace boot had a large bead of silicone covering it. It has rained twice and has not leaked. Paid $8900.00 for a new roof. Ended up with a roof that now has multiple patches (Two for the skylights one for the furnace chimney and one up the front side and down the back side) as well as two leaks one that appears to have repaired its self? And one they repaired, for now.

We were very pleased with the company! They had a wide variety of samples to choose from. They were able to begin the job within two weeks of us contacting them. They completed the job within two days and were very conscience about cleaning up afterwards. We wous definitely use them again & highly recommend them!

The folks at K&S were absolutely fantastic! I had several contractors come to quote a new roof and wasn't necessarily looking for the best price. One opened my attic and shined a flashlight up in there without physically looking at the damage and another knocked on my door with a quote and just left. We never even spoke other than him saying our number is on the quote. TJ, the gentleman from K&S that came out spent more time discussing the job with me than any other contractor I met with. He was the only one that questioned me thoroughly about what we had been experiencing and was the only one that actually went up into my attic to inspect the potential issues up close. He also showed up with the crew the morning the work started to make sure they knew what he and I had agreed to. Later in the morning after pulling the decking off they found some additional damage to the rafters we weren't aware of and called TJ, who came back out, climbed up to the roof and took pictures, then came back down and showed me what they had discovered, along with my options. He then went to the lumber store to pick up the additional material so the crew could keep working. The best part was the additional cost was nominal, along with the original quote they provided. Also, the warranty they provide was the best compared to the other contractors. When the work was completed, they did a thorough clean up and had the dumpster picked up within a couple of hours. The entire team from start to finish was polite and professional. I am extremely pleased with the price and service I received from K&S General Contracting and won't hesitate to recommend them to anyone who needs work done.

All went very well. Steve is professional, humerous, and prompt and explains things very well and is engaging. We were very impressed by his presentation so much so that based on this and his reviews on AL we decided to use his company almost immediately. In addition his price was well under what our insurance agent estimated it would be. Bad weather delayed the job but they were done in a day as promised and I was amazed by how well they cleaned up afterwards. Some parts of the old roof had two layers of shingles so there was a lot to remove leaving much debris but the clean up was so good you could not tell there was any work done. K &S is a local family run business which for me means a lot as there are no layers to go thru. When you talk to Steve you are talking to the owner. I would definitely use there services again.
