He was very courteous, professional, and reasonably priced. I will be calling him again next time my "to do list" becomes so long I can't stand it anymore!

It went well, Jamie was on time for his site survey and was prompt on what he did. The day of the work went well, and they made little mess. Whole process took them about 6 hours. The only complaints are that one of the new bathroom fans isn't square and that they didn't do a great job cleaning up. Would Highly Recommend Clar Electric

I called to have a new 220 line put in because my double oven needed more power to run. He came the day I called to give me an estimate. When he checked out the circuit breaker, he said my line was fine I just needed a more powerful circuit which would cost around 200 dollars. I said great, and he called later that day to say his friend gave him one. He came the next day, fixed it in 1/2 hour, and only charged me $100.00 for the labor. I know nothing about electrical work and he easily could have taken advantage of me. It is so wonderful to find someone so honest, I will definately use this company again.

Jamie Clar was the very professional and organized and also the lowest of the bids I received. His crew came on time. They were very courteous. They reviewed and confirmed the plan work with me and sought me out if they had any questions about how I wanted the work done as they did the work. After the work was done, they did a great job of clean up.

Great experience, from the time Jamie came out and quoted to the actual work performed. They were very honest and up front about the work, the cost and time. I have been doing a remodel in my place, and they focused on what I needed to get done, and not any other "opportunities" they saw, unless I brought it up. It was very refreshing. Jamie was amazing! He was very professional during the initial consultation, as well as, when performing the actual work. During the initial quote, he was very straightforward as to what really needed to be done vs. "nice to have". He actually took the time to understand my needs. Although I had many contractors working the day Jamie performed the work, he was very patient and at times stepped aside so that another contractor could finish. At the time of the visit, I noticed water leaking from the basement ceiling. Jamie was quick to help assess the problem even though it was not in the scope of his work. Jamie will continue to be my number one choice for all my electrical needs.

Very professional, clean, good quality job from start to finish. I called the number listed for Jamie Clar and left a voicemail. He called me back a couple of hours later and scheduled a visit to look at the job and give me an estimate. He was on time to show up. I explained the requirement and he was very good listener. He gave me an estimate of $90 per can. I needed 6 cans. total estimate 540. I requested him to throw in a little extra work --> Moving thermostat a few feet on the wall so that I can hang a flat panel TV in that space. He agreed easily. $90 per can does not include patch work for holes in the wall -- but then again, those can be fixed very easily. Competitor electricians who also patch up and finish holes in walls due to wiring/cable work quoted me $175 per can. And extra for switches. Compare that to Clar Electric's estimate, it wins on pricing hands down. The material used is same a big box electricians : Juno Lighting fixtures. On day of work, Jamie's employees Phil and Tom showed up on time. They were very nice to work with. Polite, co-operative and open to whatever was needed to make the living room look good. They asked me whenever they felt home-owner should be asked...like for example he did ask me if he can draw lines on ceiling to take accurate measurements. I said Ok since we planned on painting the walls anyways after that. The quality of work was truly amazing. They put only one hole in the drywall for running the wires for 6 cans in ceiling. Now, this may be a different scenario of your home is setup differently. I think the existing set of junction boxes and switches made it possible to do this with just one hole and they did exactly that. When all said and done, there was one hold in drywall the size of a hot-dog. Now, if you are getting this work done on first floor and if there is an attic above the ceiling where the cans for light go, then it may be possible to do this without any holes. Usually things are difficult when cans are being installed in ceilings that are right below a living area. While Phil and Tom were almost done, Jaime (the owner) stopped by the make sure everything was ok. they also moved the thermostat and did a good job in that. I would hire them again if I have electric work. Besides they are not very far from where I am.

This was the first time I'd called & used Clar Electric. We've had a ceiling fixture in our family room that's been flaky for a while now, and I finally got around to contacting a few people through Angie's List. Jamie from Clar called me back pretty quickly after I sent the message, and he was very friendly on the phone. He was on his way to an estimate and offered to swing by after that to take a look at the fixture. Once he was here, he made pretty quick work of finding the wiring trouble and fixing it, as well as informing me of potential issues in the future (things that are common to high-temperature halogen fixtures, from what he said) in case the fixture gives us more trouble down the road. I really liked working with Jamie...we talked for a while and he was both pleasant and professional. My mother bought a house recently, and I'll definitely be calling Jamie & Clar Electric again when it's time to do some electrical work at her place. I also wanted to mention that I called Jamie while he was on his way here to ask him to park on one particular side of our driveway because my wife needed to get out and back in during the time he'd be here, and he remembered to park there, which was great, as it showed that he listens to his customers, and not just with regard to the work he's doing.

Clar response time was immediate and he fixed my problem the same day. He kept me informed of when he would be at my house. He was very helpful and explained what the problem was and then quickly took care of it.

Jamie was very responsive and was able to fit us in for an estimate the same day we called as he was in the neighborhood. He provided us with an estimate of requested services that same evening as well. The work was scheduled and completed within a week of the original estimate. Jamie took his time talking with us and gave us some great advice. He was very professional, knowledgeable and friendly. We are very happy with the quality of his work. We will be using his services going forward for any future electrical/lighting needs and we would highly recommend his services.

Jaimie was the BEST supplier that I've gotten from Angie's List -- and the rest have been very good as well. His team (he brought 2 other electricians) were absolutely fantastic -- super prompt, professional, personable, and highly skilled. Plus, his prices were very reasonable! He was terrific. The customer service at this company is outstanding! My husband and I wanted to upgrade the 60A service and fuse box in our 1950?s house to 200A service with a new breaker panel. We also had a ceiling box that didn?t work, which we wanted to use for a light fixture. Jamie responded right away to my first email and came over the same evening for an estimate. Based on the size of the house (around 1000 square feet) and our plans for the future (no large additions, hot tub, or other projects that would overload the electrical system), he recommended installing a less expensive 100A service. He explained why the existing fuse box location would not meet code. While trying to decide where to put the new panel, I had a lot of questions and ?what if? scenarios which I emailed to Jamie as they came up. Jamie answered every question immediately and offered good advice. When we settled on a location, he came back to the house to reevaluate and provide an estimate for additional work I asked for (a disconnect on the back of the house for a future central air conditioner). All of this was before any contract was signed. Once we scheduled a day, Jamie kept us up to date on the permit process. He arrived in the morning with Phil and Tom. All three were great. They are smart, polite, and pleasant, and they worked nonstop until the project was done. The inspector asked for one change (raise the riser higher above the roof), which they took care of it immediately without complaint. Tom also found a break in the cable TV line which we didn?t know about. He quickly repaired it, which cleared up the bad reception we had been getting in one room. We will definitely call Clar Electric if we need electrical work done in the future.

In a nutshell: Jamie was awesome! I have limited electrical experience but I didn't feel comfortable completing the job myself. I shut off the circuit for safety concerns. Because this is an older home about 1/5 of our house was without power including the garage and the family room so this was an inconvenience. I called Jamie's number on Sunday night and got a appointment setup within 5 minutes for Tuesday. Not only did he fix my problem but he helped me understand what I did wrong (I was measuring the wrong wires). Jamie also hooked up a fan that was disabled by the original owner. Since he still had time Jamie was able to correct 3 other small problems and do an inspection of my service box to check for proper grounding and overall health of my electrical system. Awesome job! I would highly recommend Jamie to anyone. He has a great personality and works fast and efficiently.

Jamie Clar came to give us an estimate. But while he was reviewing our electrical problems, he became so intrigued by a seemingly simple yet complicated switch problem in the kitchen that he spent nearly an hour on it -- and fixed the problem with no expectation for payment. His diagnostic and quality based approach to our problems swayed us to give him the project; he was only a few dollars more than another bid. We are so happy that we chose Clar Electric. They started the job when they said they would, and they completed it on schedule. When it was discovered that the meter box was defective and had to be replaced, they worked out a fair price because it was not included in the original quote. Over the 3-day project, the workmen cleaned up every day and never left incomplete circuitry for us to deal with overnight.

Jaime was prompt and professional from the first email through completion of the work. He provided options for installation of the ceiling fans, which included running wiring to the new switches. I am very pleased with the results and his services and recommend him.

As a follow up to my emergency work done on 12/30/2009, Jamie and his men arrived early 1/7/2010 to move my sideways mounted breaker panel from a kitchen cabinet to a new spot I selected. I was impressed that they arrived on time in spite of the snowstorm the previous night that made their travel rather difficult. My electric service work required working upstairs in the kitchen and downstairs in the basement (which is only accessible through an outside entrance). They put down drop cloth and wore shoe protection to keep everything clean. They ran about 100 feet of new conduit and placed new junction boxes cleaning up a lot of old wiring and installed a new 100 Amp / 30 circuit breaker panel. They also split a number of circuits that were overloaded in the old arrangement. Everything is now properly labeled and easily accessible. As with their previous service, I was very impressed by Jamie and his crew's punctuality, professionalism, price and the quality of the work. I have several other electrical projects that I plan on using them for in the next year.

Our electricity partially went out on the morning of 12/30. We were able to run the furnace, but half the lights and our well pump were out. Jamie responded quickly to my call and arrived early that afternoon. After confirming a blown phase and working well with ComEd to verify the problem, he found where our electrical service had been improperly upgraded by the previous owners. At that point, we also discussed moving a very poorly located breaker panel and decided that a temporary repair would suffice until we could do the breaker panel upgrade. He then ran the correct wire gauge to our breaker panel. This required some very tough and cramped work on his part due to our breaker panel being mounted sideways in a kitchen cabinet. I was very pleased by Jamie's professionalism and the quality of his work. I look forward to working with him again to correct the location of our breaker panel.

Got estimate Arrived on time, on date to install. (As supply store did not mention connectors, Jamie Clar drove over to supplier to pick them up.) Finished in timely fashion.

The job was done in one day and everything is great.

I called Jamie to request a quote, I had a response and a walk-through date within a few hours. He arrived on time, provided an on-the-spot estimate (and a lot of good chatting) and then followed up via email within a couple of days. I was able to email back and forth with him about scheduling, he filed for electronic permits with the city, etc. and all of his estimates were spot-on. Jamie and his crew (Phil and Tom) showed up right on time, they were professional in their work, friendly to the cat and downright fun to spend time around. They left the basement a little cleaner than it was when they arrived (bonus!). When we ran into a major rain storm and some water in the breaker box (two weeks later) - we called Jamie and he came out on an hour's notice on a Sunday afternoon. He fixed it right up and we've had nothing but great electric service since. We've recommended him to all our friends and we'll probably call him for all our future needs. I've never been so confident in the skills (including ethical and social skills) of any contractor.

The work performed by Clar Electric was no less than stellar. Jamie was exceptionally responsive to my e-mails, after my initial contact with Jamie on Angie's List he rearranged his schedule to come out to my home to perform a quote very quickly. He was honest and straight forward with cost, equipment, time requirements, and what the work involved. Following the quote at my home he had a proposal prepared and e-mailed to me in less than 24hrs. In addition Jamie recommended retailers for the equipment that I needed to purchase, this store was also a pleasure to work with. The install was performed on 11/24/09, the electricians arrived at my home right on time, and they began working immediately. They were extremely knowledgeable, and polite, they were also very easy to communicate with. The work was done quite quickly. All the installations were done in less than 6 hours, and the guys cleaned up very nicely after themselves. The quality of the work was excellent, and they were very respectful of my home. Just a few side notes of how Clar Electric went above and beyond, they made a point of trying to find a way to run the electrical wiring without damaging drywall in visible areas, this was excellent. Also, they are very LGBT friendly. I will most definitely hire Jamie and his crew to do work in my home again. Thanks Guys!!

They did a great job, I was very happy with their professionalism. I used another electricial through Angie's List before that I was not happy with, so this was a wonderful experience.
