Clar Electric Inc

We know nothing about electrical, but everything about this experience was a good one. Clar was the third of three bids we got for upgrading service and rewiring. He was not least expensive, but he was in the middle and Jamie Clar was the most thorough when first coming out. First of all, when I called and left a message, Jamie responded within 5 minutes. This was typical of his responsiveness both by phone and email. He came out very quickly and was thorough in looking at our service and various wiring around the house. He explained some of the problems we had with our current wiring as well as our options and what he would recommend. He even fixed something a previous contractor had messed up before he left for the evening (at no charge)! He sent me an estimate the next morning, answered further questions, and even contacted ComEd to look at our outside drop because we had an unsafe placement. In short, Jamie instilled confidence in us with his knowledge and conscientiousness. Another reputable contractor gave us a lower price (and yet another gave us an outrageous one), but Jamie's price seemed fair and we had a feeling his service would be the best and his knowledge the highest of the three. Thankfully, we were right! The work started the next week after we approved the bid. The workmen showed up on time, seemed knowledgeable, and cleaned up after themselves well. The service upgrade took a few hours longer than they had hoped, but it was done very well, and we had power back by the evening. The next two days were spent rewiring the house, plus installing one CAT5 connection in the basement. Again, the workers were timely, clean, and efficient. I asked them to let me know if they would have to make any holes in the wall, and they did, and we discussed the options and each time, they minimized any "disfigurement." Jamie arranged for the village inspection, which was a few days later, and he kept me informed about when the inspector would come (it was a time window), then he showed up on time and the the work passed inspection easily. I cannot say enough good things about our experience with this contractor. I would highly recommend them.

I have used Jamie before. He and his men do an excellent job. Jamie came out the same day that I called him to give me an estimate. He was here within a week to do the job. There are never any hidden costs. They do a wonderful job and take pride in their work. I definitely will use them every time i need any electrical work done.

Excellent job, no complaints whatsoever. We discussed our requirements thoroughly, they answered every question, were extremely professional, cleaned up the area when the job was completed. They took out the old 50 amp service panel & breakers, installed the new 200 amp service, labeled the breakers, explained everything. No house wiring needed replacing. They came on time, 2 electricians started and were joined by a 3rd, they did all the work in one day. We got 4 bids, they came in 2nd lowest. It's been 8 months and we have had no problems at all. Would hire them again in a heartbeat.

Great! MR. Clar came within in hour of calling him. He took care to put on shoe covers while working here, taking them off to go outside to his truck and back on again each time he entered. He was professional, polite and very helpful. I would definitely call this company again!

Jamie quickly responded to my initial inquiry and came by to give me an estimate the same day. The price was good and the work was scheduled on a convenient date for me a week later. The electricians were on time, friendly, and did a great job from installation to clean up. I'd definitely use them again.

Jamie was very friendly and accommodated our schedule to provide a free estimate and do the work. His price was reasonable and he offered good options as to how to complete the work which ended up saving us money. He was professional from beginning to end. We would use him again and recommend him to others.

I found Clar Electric on Angie?s list and was impressed by the consistency of the recommendations I saw. I wasn?t sure that they would come to Hyde Park, but Jaime assured me that it was no problem. They did everything well and efficiently?and gave real care to the hanging of the chandelier. Each job was done with great courtesy and good humor, and at a quite reasonable cost. My wife and I are very pleased, and if we need more electrical work, we will certainly be calling Clar Electric.

We would definetly use him again. He was professional and was very nice and wanted to do what was best for us. It was a Friday night and he could have easily told us that he wasn't going to come out as it was late but he was so friendly and nice about it. I would definetly use him again!

From initial phone call to completion it went great. They were able to quote doing the work and how long it would take to do it. They weren't pushy when I told them I was just getting a quote right now, but were very responsive and professional. When I called to make an appointment to have the work done, they were able to provide me with an exact date and time they would arrive and an approximate completion time for the job. When the team showed up they went right to work and finished earlier then expected. When the job was done they cleaned up and other then the new fans you couldn't tell they were there.

We called and Jaimie was able to come out the same day. Both jobs were small (one at our house, one at my sister's) and Jaimie was able to combine them into one service call. We've used Clar Electric before, and are very pleased with with this company.

We would definitely call Clar Electric for any future electrical problems. Friendly, professional service. I will recommend them to my friends.

The project was very well done, we love it. So far there is no problem at all. Good job.

The electricity in our family room stopped working and we had no idea why. I contacted Jamie Clar. He responded the very next day and was able to come to my house that day to solve the problem which is what I had requested. In no time he diagnosed the problem that my outdoor outlet had shorted which caused my electricity in the family room to stop working. He replaced the outlet with an appropriate one telling us that the original outdoor outlet that was installed was not the right kind which was why water was able to get into it and it shorted. Problem solved!

We had a circuit go out that powered our air conditioning unit and needed emergency service since it was on a very hot Saturday afternoon. I left a voice mail with the company since it was over the weekend and Jamie returned my call very quickly. Jamie told me over the phone that he would be at my home in about two hours after another appointment and he arrived just under two hours. Once he arrived, he quickly trouble shot our issue and fixed the problem.

Jamie called us back the same day I left a message. He came out the next week to look at the job. While here, he reset the timers and replaced many bulbs. As it turned out, all the problems lights were in need of new bulbs. He was very professional, personable, and honest. Many of our trees required getting on a ladder and going up quite high to investigate problems. We will have him install interior canned lights as our next project. He has become "our electrician". I found Clar Electric on Angie's List & was very impressed with their hight ratings. I called & talked to the owner, Jamie Clar, & again was impressed with his professionalism & friendliness on the phone. Tom, one of the installers, & Jamie came to my home on 6/3/10. Tom, (very friendly), removed the old ceiling fan & installed the new Hunter ceiling fan, light & remote control very fast & efficiently. He then cleaned up & took the fan box & debris to my garage for garbage day pickup. I am very glad I joined Angie's List so I can find companies like Clar Electric for service. I definitely will call them in the future for any electrical problems. With this one call I saved enough to pay for my year's subscription to Angie's List!

Jamie did some electrical work on my house a few years ago. Recently, I discovered one of the lights in the basement no longer worked. I called Jamie and asked him to take a look at it. He was very accomodating and came out late in the afternoon so I didn't have to lose any time from work. He replaced the light. He is professional, friendly and did a very good job, once again.

HE CAME OUT AND REPLACED IT WITH A RECOMMENDED FIXTURE.

We were so impressed with Jamie and his crew for their professionalism and hard work. They arrived on time (actually a bit early) and left everything neat and clean. It was so nice to turn on various appliances last week and not have to worry about the old electrical wiring. Kudos also for being so prompt on following up regarding the quote and specificity of details.

This was the second time I called and used Clar Electric, and just as in the first time, they did a great job. They came in at a very reasonable price. The end result of the work is very tidy and professional, and they cleaned up after themselves. In the end, we got exactly what we asked for at a price that was extremely competitive compared with the other bids we received.
