I requested service and heard back within a couple hours with some follow up questions. I then received a phone call and was able to schedule service for that same day. Jamie arrived as planned and was able to quickly and effectively take care of what needed to be done.

They were good. Proprietor was James and he was good. There were two people who did the work simultaneously. They were quick. Their promptness was excellent and their cleanup was good too.

Clar Electric did a great job. Phil and Tom showed up right on time. They were both very friendly and professional. They got to work right away and checked and rechecked the locations where we wanted everything installed. I let them know that I was open to their advice and they offered it wherever they thought it would be helpful. They worked clean and efficiently. The end result looks great and each of the installs meets or exceed expectations. They also helped correct a problem I had created in another room when trying to install a new light switch for no charge. And, while I felt stupid for my error, they didn't make me feel stupid and explained the problem and how to avoid it in the future. Overall - a great experience. I would highly recommend Clar Electric and wouldn't hesitate to call them first for our future electrical needs.

Jamie Clar came out and concluded that the neutral wire was disconnected somewhere down the line in the conduit. After a little searching, it turned out that the non-working outlet was connected to a ceiling closet light in my son's room, and that the neutral wire was disconnected at that closet light. Jamie quickly fixed it and charged $75, which I felt was very reasonable. Jamie took time to explain everything to me.

Jamie called me back and asked me a few questions about the electrical problem I was having with getting power to my ceiling fan. After getting a feel for my knowledge and comfort doing basic electrical home projects, Jamie talked me through a few common issues he encounters and where I should look to do the repair myself. He said he was happy to come out if I couldnt fix it myself, but he wanted to save me. The cost of a service call. After getting into my attic, I eventually found a loose wire and got everything connected myself. Thanks for the advice! No one solves problems for free over the phone anymore. I'll defintely call next time I have aproblem I can't fix on my own.

This is the second time we have hired Clar Electric Inc and once again we're very satisfied with their service and quality of work. They installed a ceiling fan with a speed control and 6 recessed lights with a dimmer switch. From the estimate provided by Jamie to the installation by Phil and Tom, they were very responsive; answering any questions we had. Their pricing was very fair and reasonable. On the day of the installation Phil and Tom arrived on time and explained the installation process. Along with being personable, they are extremely knowledgeable and have the expertise needed to do the job properly. They leave the home as neat and tidy as it was to begin with. We will definitely hire Clar Electric Inc again and highly recommend them. What a difference the lighting and ceiling fan make to our family room. We’re very pleased!

Jamie, the owner, might just be the friendliest guy on earth. He was willing to work around our schedule (he even came out to inspect our attic around 8 pm on a weekday night), and he was also willing to stick around and offer free advice on various issues. Their prices are very fair, and they don't try to sell you services you don't need. If you need an electrician, Clar should be your first call, without question.

This is the second time we have used Jamie because we love his professional, super knowledgeable and friendly approach. This time he turned up to fix our issue even though it was after 7pm on a Saturday because he had promised to come by. We will never use any other electrician again!

Jamie and his associates came to my house to install an electrical in my barn and chicken coop. They arrived right on time. The materials they used are very good quality, and the work performed was excellent. Jamie and his associates were friendly, courteous and professional, and didn't mind getting a little "help" from our 6 chickens.

Jamie (the owner) came out to give the estimate. He was very professional and EXTREMELY punctual. He is very knowledgable about his profession and the work that needed to be performed. Tom and Phil came out to do the work. They installed two ceiling fans, ran wiring and added a closet light. They brought drop clothes to cover all of the furniture in the area and cleaned up any messed that were made. Jamie came out toward the end of the installation to bring a lighting fixture for my closet, it was installed quickly without any issues. I had a few other electricians (all 'A' reviews from Angie's list) bid on the job that needed to be done and these guys were the best choice. Thank you Clar electric, the ceiling fans will be wonderful during the hot weather.

Clar electric was fabulous to work with. Jamie came out to provide us an estimate and noticed some items that were noted in our home inspection (60 amp service into a 100 amp box). Jamie promptly provided us with an estimate for everything on our "wish" list and worked with us in determining the priority of the items. Jamie and crew when they came to do the work were very professional, friendly and clean. They explained to me the different steps/phases for some of the tasks they were completing and finished the work ahead of schedule. I would recommend Clar electric to anyone looking to have work completed and will be having them back for some additional work later this year.

The service was excellent. Jamie was polite and professional, both on the phone and in person. He explained exactly what he was going to do and made helpful suggestions (such as wiring the fan so that the light could still be controlled by the wall switch, with only the fan needing to use a chain). Even though I know that he had already had a long day due to traffic and weather, he was pleasant and worked quickly. I am extremely pleased with the end result. I will definitely be calling them in the future to install the fourth fan when I'm ready to paint that room and will certainly call for any other electrical needs or emergencies that may come up.

Jamie is amazing. I found him on Angie's List some time ago, and we are about to use his services again. I had forgotten to write a review for him the last time we used him, and then, when I recently had some bad experiences with 2 other non-electric contractors, and I wrote reviews on them, I remembered what a positive experience I had had with Clar. He was professional, knowledgeable, personable and well-priced. We have found our forever electrician!

Tom and Jamie arrived on time and went straight to work. We are very happy with the colors and styles of the new switches, GFIs, and switchplates. They were even nice enough to change a burned out track lamp and repair the socket for me since I had an injured leg and couldn't climb a ladder. These repairs were needed because we sold our house in Buffalo Grove. Wish their coverage area included our new house in Tennessee. You won't go wrong by using Jamie.

Great experience. When we called to report problem they came out that day. They determined the problem and made sure it wasn't a dangerous situation. We had a quote the next day. We scheduled the day for the work to be done. They arrive right on time and were very nice and very professional. It is great to know that we have an electrician to call for any future electrical needs.

This is the second time that we have used Clar Electric and I am sure it will not be the last. I would not hesitate to highly recommend them. They are punctual, responsive, capable and pleasant. Everything was done beautifully.

Jamie came out to the house to discuss the work and look over the existing panel. He explained exactly what would be done and provided me a quote the next day. Jamie's quote was in the same range as the others I received and I decided to go with Clar Electric based on my experience talking to him about the job.The electrician from Clar Electric arrived on time the day the work was scheduled to be completed. Later that day Jamie stopped by to see how things were going. Both Jamie and the electrician preforming the work were very professional and did a great job. The job took about half a day to complete including clean up.

They arrived on time. We went over the details of where I wanted things mounted. They laid down a blanket under the area they needed to work, and started. They were in and out within 2 hours. Everything put back in it's place and nothing left behind. They were helpful when I needed information to make a decision, and incredibly courteous. I will gladly use them again.

After getting three separate estimate for a series of jobs, we decided to go with Clar Electric. Although their estimate fell in the middle, the knowledge and experience that Jamie Clar exhibited inspired great confidence on our part. We bought a 1915 house several months ago and had a number of projects. Once his crew showed up, we changed some of our priorities after discussing the details of the work with them. In addition to the work that they did, we had some other requests. Jamie explained why they couldn?t do one of the jobs we wanted. Although we were disappointed, we found his explanation clear and understandable. Sure, he could have done the work and made more money, but his explanation demonstrated a concern for safety and practical workability and we respected that. The work done was done well, effeiciently, and with a minimum of fuss or mess. The crew were engaging and good at explaining what they were doing and working with me when I asked them to modify their approach or way they were doing some things. I appreciated their experience and expertise and wouldn't hesitate to hire them again. It was a positive experience all the way around. (Well, okay, one little complaint: perhaps because of the number of jobs and amount of time required (I don't know because I didn't ask), it took several weeks longer than I was happy about to schedule a time for them to do the work. I would have preferred to get the work done sooner, but all in all,this isn't a major complaint.)

We called Clar Electric based on Angie's List reviews to diagnose the cause of a partial power outage. Half of the rooms in our house were losing power for several minutes at a time and the power company found no problems on their end. First Jamie confirmed that we did not have an emergency - that we did not notice any sizzling sounds or burning etc. coming from our breaker panel. We scheduled an appointment for that same afternoon, and Jamie arrivied when he said he would. Had had warned me over the phone that if the power outage wasn't occuring when he was there, it may be difficult to find the problem. He looked in our circut breaker box and the meter box and did not see any obvious problems - no signs of burning or other damage. Of course we could not get the power to turn off when he was there, so Jamie was unable to find the problem, but he did install a new breaker for our air conditioner that we had been needing to replace. Over the next few days we didn't have any power problems and thought maybe the issue had been fixed inadvertently, but then it came back and we were losing power for hours at a time. The power company still maintained it was not their issue, so I contacted Jamie again while the power was out and he went out of his way to come out that afternoon. With the power out he was able to narrow down where the issue was and discovered that a loose screw in our meter box had kept the metal components from making proper contact. Jamie sanded down the two metal pieces (a tedious task, to say the least) as they had gotten rough from electric arcing, and tightened the screw. We turned the power back on and put a load on it and the problem was fixed. Jamie went above and beyond! We are so pleased with Clar Electric - highly recommend!

Jamie came out and provided us an estimate in a timely manner. On the day of the job his crew showed up right on time and completed the work in the amount of time he estimated it would take. Throughout the whole process, he and his crew member were very friendly and knowledgable and made sure we were kept informed when any questions arose.

I called and left a message for Jamie on Monday, May 7th with regard to our wiring issue. He returned my call very quickly to inquire about the work and schedule a service appointment for me. After I described the issue, he IMMEDIATELY recognized that I had likely made a simple wiring mistake and assured me he could fix the problem in less than an hour. At the time, we made an appointment for the following week. That worked for me, so I set an appointment in my calendar and moved on with the day. Roughly 30 minutes later, Jamie left me a message that he had an evening cancellation!! I called him back immediately and jumped on the appointment! We only set a rough time for the evening appointment, but Jamie showed up right when he said. (Despite wicked Cubs game traffic and terrible parking in our neighborhood!) Jamie was kind, efficient and professional! He found the problem (my bad wiring) quickly, but double checked everything to make sure we were good to go! The time, price and services were OUTSTANDING!! Jamie could have easily gone home to spend time with family and friends considering we already had a scheduled appointment for the following week. Instead, he called a customer he had never worked with and fixed our problem. THAT'S CUSTOMER SERVICE! There aren't enough platitudes to describe the quality of service and experience with Clar Electric. I will DEFINITELY hire them again for any future electrical needs.
