First, Jamie called me right back. I explained the issues we wanted to addressed. I told him one problem was our three outlets in the kitchen weren't working. Over the phone he was able to talk me through fixing them on my own! Although his employees work normal business hours, he very kindly came over to do the work in the evening for us. Our doorbell had a number of problems and he was able to fix them all. He supplied us with a new transformer, doorbell and outlet. He was friendly and professional. We will definitely use him for all our electrical needs. Thanks Jamie!

emailed Jaime in the morning for a problem my mom was having with a breaker tripping. He called back later that morning to let me know he would be coming out that day. Found out there was a short at a receptacle that was causing the breaker to trip. Fixed and replaced it. While he was there we asked if he could put a GFI in my bathroom. He found out the switch in the same box was miswired and fixed that as well. Was extremely pleasant and my mom know all that he was finding and doing. This is the second time we have used him and will use him again in the future.

Everything met or exceeded our expectations! Jamie responded promptly to calls throughout the project. He came out quickly to give us a quote. The crew showed up on time and were very professional and knowledgeable. They informed me what their plans were and answered all of my questions throughout the process. Jamie and his crew are all very experienced and shared some of their knowledge and stories so I was able to learn quite a bit. Everything was done properly, so as expected there were no concerns raised during the village electrical permit inspector's visit. Much thanks to Phil and Tom for a job well done! When we noticed an outlet wasn't working the next day, Jamie responded to my call and was out to fix the issue within the hour. What great service! I would definitely hire Clar Electric again next time I need electrical work done, and will gladly recommend them to friends.

I can not say enough good things about Jamie, he was the best. I talked to him on a Monday, setting up the appointment for Saturday, because he had a really busy week. I sent him an email on Tuesday, seeing if he could squeeze us in if he had any openings sooner. Jackie was so nice & was able to come out later that night to help me out. He came prepared, was professional, and quickly got the job done. What a nice man, and he did a great job!! I will definitely be calling him for any other electrical work, as well as recommending him to all of my friends.

I used Angie's list to find a Electrical contractors experienced in replacing circuit panels and chose Clar Electric. Jamie gave me a description of what needed to be done and what it would cost. He made me feel confident he and his crew could complete the job in a professional and timely manor. Jamie got the required permit and made sure the work satisfied the requirements of the village. He scheduled a date and time and arrived as promised. This crew completed the work in a timely manor and cleaned the area when the job was complete. They checked to make sure everything worked properly before leaving. I was great full that they didn't mind answering any and all of my questions. This is the second time we've used Clar Electric and we were again very pleased. We had them install recessed lighting in our basement and dining room last year and liked it so much that we had them back to do our dining room & bedroom this time. Jamie responds very promptly to calls and emails and answers all your questions. Electricians Phil and Tom are friendly and professional and they were the same guys who installed our lights last year. Everything went so smoothly! We'll be calling them again soon to install a new ceiling fan.

We felt very comfortable and confident with Jamie from Clar. His knowledge, honesty, and professionalism were so evident. Unfortunately, we weren't able to use Clar Electric due to a very specific time window, but we really wish we could have. We even considered moving the deadline, so that we could hire Jamie and his crew! Most definitely, we will be using Clar on any projects we may have in the future.

Communication before coming was great. He answered my emails promptly as we went back and forth to find an open date for the install. He has stellar reviews on Angies List and I would use him again for future electrical work. I received a quote from him to add additional outlets in our bathroom and in our kitchen for a future project. The quote was very reasonable. Fan Install I purchased the fan from Home Depot with a wireless switch. He mounted the ceiling fan and did the wiring for the remote connected to the wall. I was really impressed with his service and great customer service. I forgot to write a review about this back in August. The fan still looks great and is working very smoothly without any issues. I would recommend him and will use him again in the future.

Jamie Clar is the master! I will never use anyone else! I'm renovating a 1929 house and he is helping me, little by little, a step at a time. We have a list of long term projects that we are doing in steps, and he's told me what is possible and create a plan. He & his employees are professional, masters of the trade, professional and respectful. I enjoy working with them very much. I schedule my projects around his availability - no one else will ever touch my wiring again! Complete confidence & a huge fan!! I initially used another electrical company who has high AL ratings, and it was a nightmare - on top of shoddy work, I was treated with distain. I won't say their name because I am happy that company is out of my life & don't want to poke the hornet's nest. I called Clar during it, and told him I should have gone with. Since then, I only use Clar and life is so much sweeter!

did a great job. kept in touch the whole time about what was going on. checked with city, pulled permits, met with them and exceeded codes. worked with me and around my schedule and that of other contractors I had working on the house. very knowledgeable and friendly. would definitely call again for any additional work.

Everything went well. I am very happy with the work that was done. Jamie was very friendly and easy to work with. He answered all of my questions and was very helpful. I would definitely hire him again.

He answers your call and emails ASAP. I had all my family room lights done 3 years ago. He responds as soon as you call him, he responds quickly and he emails you the estimate if you need an estimate. His hourly fee is reasonable, and he is honest, and he does good work. I have recommended him to atleast 2 other people, and they have used him also.

We couldn't be more pleased. We had had a very bad experience with an Angie's list electrician who offered a coupon for replacement of the electrical panel--guy didn't send crew with correct Chicago credentials, obviously didn't know diddly about Chicago high-rises, told us we had 150 amp service, when the building was built with 200 amp service, etc.--then became unresponsive and we asked him not to bother coming to do the work and got our coupon money back. We were initially concerned that Clar's office was also suburban, but they got so many good reviews, we went for it and are glad we did. The two-man crew was professional, knew these lakefront high-rises and the electrical problems they can have, quickly diagnosed problems, replaced wiring we didn't know needed replaced until they opened the boxes (it was obvious, then) and put in the perfect panel for this type of 1970's wiring. They came out very quickly to survey the work needed and get us a quote. They told us what they could and also told us what might be, so there were no surprises. We had to wait three weeks for them to do the work, because they're so busy--but they're so busy because they're so good. The work came in at exactly the quote, which for the amount of work they did, was very reasonable. You will not go wrong hiring this company. It is truly first rate.

While I did not use their service, Jamie from Clar was very helpful and responsive. If I have any future needs for an electrician, I will definitely give Clar the opportunity for the work.

Our condo building had flooding, so we contacted Clar Electric for a damaged intercom system and to find out if there might be damage to the building's circuit breaker (which got wet during the flooding). Jamie was very prompt (he called me back twice within two hours of my initial VM and spoke at length about the issues. Although he couldn't fix the intercom system, he recommended a couple intercom companies that specialize in those. Having been on a condo board for several years, I've worked with a lot of contractors, handymen, electricians, and so on, and Jamie was incredibly prompt, courteous and honest. While we couldn't utilize his services this time, Clar will definitely be the first call next time we need an electrician.

Jamie responded to my call with in minutes. I called on Friday morning and he was at my home by 1 pm the same day. He was very quick and effecient, explained what he was doing and made some recommendations on avoiding issues in the future. I have found an electrical contractor I trust.

Jamie is a nice guy and definitely knows his trade. He was patient with all my many questions and explains things well. I?m somewhat of a handyman type within my own house, and the things I end up not doing myself like this job I still want to know what?s going on. Jamie understood that and was with me almost an hour for the free estimate. On the day the work was done he had his two guys working, then Jamie showed up midway through to make sure everything was going OK. The new switch we needed required drilling through the floor from our crawlspace up to our family room, which puts the job out of DIY territory for me, and everything went just fine. I also appreciate that they supplied a nice, contractor-grade outdoor fixture, better than most of what?s out there at your big-box stores. I will definitely use Clar Electric the next time I need an electrician.

I love this guy! -Fast about getting to you with a price. -REALLY knows his stuff. His work is excellent. -Thorough, clean, fast. -On time. Does exactly what he says he'll do. -Super professional. -Was able to easily navigate and coordinate with the village inspector and ComEd. -He likes dogs. Two surprises. He had to get a permit for the work. When I called the village, they said it would be $75. When Jamie went to get the permit it was actually $150. Village's fault, not his, but that is why the "B" in price. Second surprise - and this is my favorite - he had to have ComEd cut off our power while the work was being done. He told us it could be 2 - 3 hours. Not normally a problem in November, but we're in the middle of a very cold snap. When Jamie arrived it was about 15 degrees. He had brought a portable generator with him and hooked it up to our house. We had heat. How many contractors are that thoughtful? We've used him on several projects and will happily use him again. Don't hesitate - he's the best.

Jamie and a colleague showed up right on time and completed all the work in a couple hours. Quality was perfect, and they were very careful to clean up and also to minimize drywall damage (since I'm doing the patchwork myself). The entire process was smooth and stress-free, despite the fact we had a young child and relatives in the house at the time the work was being performed. Jamie and his team are highly recommended.

I contacted 3 electrical shops for estimates. Jamie was the only one to meet me with the estimate. He arrived as scheduled. We agreed on the job and set a future date for work. Jamie arrived on time and did the required work. Great job and I'll contact him again for future electrical work. I'd recommend him without question.

I'm still deciding on what I actually need but Jamie is very helpful and honest. When I decide what I need I would for sure use Clar.

Electrician arrived on time and did exactly what we were hoping for; install a light outside of our back door. It required drilling through the brick wall and connecting the electricity from our kitchen. Looked great and was reasonably price. We would use again.

I love Angie's list for helping me find great companies like Clar Electric. My under cabinet lights stopped working and Jamie came out and checked them out, suggested what repairs I should do that would get the lights working but also contain the cost. He was quick to respond to phone messages, showed up on time and the new lights look and work great!

Excellent company! Jamie is absolutely wonderful to work with. He is extremely professional and does not BS you at all. His work is a very high quality. I would recommend them to anyone and am going to hire him again in the near future.
