Called in the AM and was lucky enough to have Jamie come over in the afternoon. Fixed the problem, which we had anticipated was a much bigger problem than it was, quickly and efficiently. In a type of business where he could have really taken advantage of us because we have no clue about electrical things, he was honest, trustworthy, and inexpensive. I will definitely call him again if we need anything and would/will highly recommend this company to others.

It turned out well. They were courteous, efficient and professional. I had them a week after I purchased it.

It was great. He was able to come on short notice. He diagnosed the problem and fix it. He was very friendly and has great customer service. I work for a small construction company I am now referring all my clients that need electrical work to this company. He has great reviews and the price was awesome.

Couldn't have gone better. We called on Sunday morning because we had a electric burning smell coming from ceiling fan. Jamie came out later that day and identified where the smell was coming from. While he was at our house we had him do some other electrical work.

The service from Clar was excellent. I called three electricians prior to this firm, 2 of those were on Angie's list and "A" rated, and never received a return call. Jamie responded to my e-mail in a few hours and came the same day. The work was done quickly and completely.

We had/have a few issues with some of the ceiling fans and a lamp in our home. The most important problem was a light fixture which was hanging precariously by the electrical cord on our back porch. The repairman was able to solve this problem in a very short time, and he did a good job. The other ceiling fan I showed him had a more permanent problem, and he was not able to do anything for that fixture - he told me we would have to replace it, and he didn't have the necessary parts. Similarly, we have a lamp with a broken switch, and he did not have the parts for that repair, either. So, with the repair that he was able to complete, he did an excellent job.

It went great. Jaime showed up the same day I called him and he did a great job diagnosing the problem and making the repair. We are using him again on an additional project. Great experience and very friendly and fair.

Jamie was helpful, professional and to the point. He quickly identified the problem and fixed the broken wire (shorting) near circuit breaker.

Jamie was extremely knowledgeable and professional. Since I wanted to watch and understand the work being done, he took the time to explain what he was looking for and how he would address the problem. From the get-go, Clar was great. We worked with Jamie (the owner) who coordinated everything. Scheduling was a breeze and Jamie showed up within the scheduled 3 hour window. He was extremely professional, knowledgeable and friendly and got the job done in a short amount of time. We purchased the initial package through Angie's List and Jamie had been completely upfront about the costs of extra time during the scheduling process. He only needed 30 minutes more than the initial package and I know he was here for longer than that! I'd have him back to do electrical work and wouldn't think twice about it! We talked over the phone some times that worked, which was no problem. He came over and installed the fan as well as a switch for the fan (instead of dealing with those chains hanging over the bed). The switch was an extra charge, I want to say it was $30 which I thought was totally worth it. He was friendly, clean, professional and it seemed he was very experienced. There was no mess, no problems, no regrets. I would recommend him to anyone.

Jamie was on time and very friendly and professional. His work was excellent, he was very careful to clean up after the installation and he charged exactly what he estimated. His knowledge of this installation was complete and he finished the entire job in less than 2 hours. We will use Clar Electric in the future as our needs arise.

Jamie was knowledgeable, thorough and reasonable ? everything you want in an electrician! He diagnosed the problem and corrected it efficiently. He also worked with me to locate a new plug for the oven in the optimal spot. As part of our kitchen remodel, we had the island containing the slide-in oven rebuilt. As he disconnecting the old oven, the carpenter noticed that the 220v wire had frayed and some of the cooper strands had melted. There were scorch marks in the junction box. I decided we needed to hire an expert to figure out what happened and fix it correctly. I found Jamie Clar on Angie?s list and he was the perfect man for the job. I bought a big deal for $99 for a service call and one hour (knowing that I would be paying additional beyond that hour for labor and materials). Jamie responded quickly and communicated often so that he knew all the details of our set-up, so that he could bring all the correct materials on the first visit. Also since pulling wire is normally a 2 man job, he asked if I where available to help, thereby saving the cost of a second man. Jamie spotted the wire problem and while he thought it might have been caused by a nick in the wire during the original installation, he didn?t stop there. He keep probing ?asking questions on the island set-up and looking at the breaker box and the wiring. In an ?Aha? moment, Jamie found the root cause. In addition to the 220v line to the oven, our old island also had an 110v outlet (not included in the new island). The breaker box had both a circuit for the oven and a separate one for the island plug, but with no wires attached. Plus the conduit only had 3 wires in it. What happened is 20 years ago when the house was built, someone took an unsafe shortcut?instead of running two more wires (hot leads) for the 110 outlet, they used one of the 220 hot wires (i.e. getting 110 v) and the METAL CONDUIT for the other 110v hot ?wire? ! It ?worked? for 20 years, but the few times we moved the toaster to the island, it heated up the conduit so much that in 2 spots, holes had melted clean through the metal conduit joints. At one location, the floor joist had burn marks. This shortcut came very close to burning down the house. Jamie who also is a part-time inspector for the village of Northbrook took pictures of the burnt out conduit to share with his fellow inspectors. Needless to say, Jamie corrected the problem. We ran a new wire back to the box. Jamie also worked with me to locate the outlet for the new stove in the optimal location. Instead of trying to squeeze it behind the stove that had limited clearance, we located it on the joist in the basement. I cannot recommend Jamie more highly ? he is the only electrician I will ever call.

The hallway light stopped working so I purchased the Big Deal to have that and other projects addressed. I emailed Clar Elec to see what days were available and Jamie emailed back right away! It was great - set a time and date. Jamie called on the appointed day saying he was on his way - right on time. I needed 3 things fixed - 2 were done very quickly (fix switch on wall and make sure plug was working) and the 3rd (fix very old door bell) was not able to be fixed right now because of other issues but Jamie gave me very good advice. Very happy with the visit - he got everything done within the hour. It was great. I will call him if (actually when since my house is very old) I need electrical help again in the future.

Jamie and one assistant did all the work in about 2 and a half hours. Ceiling fan in bath was wired and installed exactly as we wanted it. Three way switches were fixed easily as was the exterior lights timer. We are very happy with their service and would recommend them to anyone needing electrical work of any kind.

I need the work done before they have any openings.

They can't do the work for 5 weeks.

I e-mailed Jamie through Angie's list on 11/19 and he responded right away since I had a malfunctioning smoke/CO2 detector that was constantly chirping and had initially set off false alarms of both smoke and CO2. I had purchased a new smoke/CO2 detector combination that Jamie was able to install on Wednesday evening and restore peace and quiet back to my home. He was very nice and informative and I certainly appreciated his willingness to come out on the same day.

From the onset, Jamie was very professional, pleasant, and accessable. In addition to performing the work associated with the Big Deal, he did a few other "minor" things day of the service. One of those was finishing the instal of a fan that we began previously. Upon completion, I noticed he installed the fan with a downrod, which it wasn't how it was intended...this was as much our fault for not specifying our request. Upon notifying him of the matter, instead of hemming and hawing about it, he was more than willing to take down the fan and reinstall it. The fact that this happened after dinner time, I could he was a little frustrated by the situation, but he did his best to hide it and act very pleasant. A lot of vendors would say "sorry, but..." or "we'll have to reschedule", but Jamie took the time to make sure we were satisfied by his service. When all was said and done he left our home close to 8pm. I couldn't say enough about his professionalism, positive attitude, and focus on customer service. We highly recommend Clar Electric, and will happily use them again for other electical projects.

Jamie was very responsive (I think he answered my initial email request in about 15 min!) and professional. When we didn't have the correct light bulbs at home for one of the repairs, he made a phone call to a nearby lighting store to make sure they had what we needed, put them on hold and waited at our house while we raced to the store, bought them, and came back to get the repair done. Really appreciate the fact that he was accommodating and helpful!
