Excellent service from start to finish! Work was quickly done.

That went okay but he came in to check a few things and he didn't check one thing because he ran out of time and I wasn't to excited about that. He came out in the summer.

On 1/21/2016, we had Jamie out to perform what should have been a very easy change of a transformer, light switch, or the lighting system. He showed up after his 2 hour slot, and started with testing the switch and confirmed that was not the issue. He then said based on his past experience, one common issue is the transformer. In order to move forward with the transformer placement, he needed us to provide you with the brand name. Otherwise, he recommended changing the lighting system. Honestly, we were confused by his protocol. We have dealt with multiple contractors to remodel our condo. Typically, a contractor should first open the parts to confirm issue, then suggest most reasonable solutions. He or she is responsible to place order for the parts and complete the installment. Customers only pay for the parts based on the store receipt. Service fee is based on actual time spent in doing the job including part purchasing time but minus the travel time to the job. In this case, he diagnosed the issue without actually examining our transformer, but only based on his past experience with other customers. In addition, he put the responsibility of finding the brand name solely on us, which proved to be a huge challenge. Why wouldn't he just check this while he was here? The other ridiculous factor was that he said we should contact the prior owner. Well, it's a condo, so it's not like the prior owner would have any idea, and since it's Chicago, the developer obviously did the typical thing of filing for bankruptcy immediately. We clearly said we probably will NOT be able to reach the previous owner since it has been a long time since the purchase. In the meanwhile, we insisted to have him take down the transformer to check if the brand name is labeled. It is only at this point, he, for the first time, got on a stool to exam our system. Surprisingly, with his first touch of the transformer, the light went on. He explained the issue was the connector. It was loose and now tightened back. He did NOT mention this is a temporary fix or suggested we should continue to pursue the transformer replacement, but later claimed that he had done so. If he had, we would certainly not accept a solution that is only good for a few hours. In fact, he quit opening the transformer as soon as the light went on to see if anything else was wrong. We found this very odd, especially since he had only been here for 10 minutes. Was this out of laziness? Was it because he had no idea what he was doing? We're not sure. But, what we are sure of is that within a few hours, the light again had stopped working. When we reached out to him, he simply stated that we should take down the light system and try to find the part number for the transformer. Wasn't this what we paid him to do!? Admittedly, this is not my area of expertise, which is why (like many of you reading this) we reached out for an expert. He also claimed many falsehoods, which I'd be more than happy to share the screenshots. I typically like to support small businesses, but strongly recommend you look elsewhere.

He was very nice, put it up in a very timely manner, cleaned up what little mess he made and it was a wonderful experience. I'll call him again when I need something else fixed. Note: house built in 1932 and I keep finding things that have to be fixed.

Jamie was quite efficient and informative. Spent a generous amount of time explaining the issue and educating me on the new light bulb system requirements.

Jamie was very responsive after I purchased the deal. We coordinated a date for him to assess and perform the repair. When I ended up with a conflict on the agreed upon date, Jamie was great about providing additional dates and time to reschedule. Jamie came at the agreed upon time (between 9 & 11) and on the agreed upon new date (12/21/15) and immediately assessed the issue as a switch that had gone bad and replaced the bad switch with a new switch and reconnected the wires of the garbage disposal. The switch and disposal now work great. I will definitely call Jamie and Clar Electric with any future electrical needs!

It was great. Since this was a special deal, it only included labor. So he instructed me what parts to get in advance so he could install them. He was on time and very nice to deal with. He actually finished before the hour was up, but I couldn't think of another job that needed doing. I'll definitely call him the next time we need electrical work done.

Really happy with the service provided. Electricians are busy and it's hard to get one to come out soon. We were going to have to wait a few weeks but they were thoughtful enough to work us in when they had a cancellation. Jamie came on time, handled the problem pretty quickly, and was very pleasant and professional throughout. Really seems to know his stuff inside and out. I would not hesitate to hire him again.

It went well and it was worth the money to have it installed

Coming home after midnight (we work second shift), we found power out in about a quarter of our house -- most notably to our furnace. I called Clar about 2 a.m. I got a voicemail using both the normal and 800 phone numbers on Clar's website. This was disappointing as the website touts "24-hour emergency service." It had been a mild December day, so were not in a total emergency and we could wait until morning, but still, if I have an overnight emergency again I will be looking for an electrician that really offers 24-hour emergency service. Clar also offers an email address, which I wrote to and said call me when you get this. Jamie Clar did call around 9 a.m. and said the problem sounded like a ComEd line, and I should get the ball rolling on getting them dispatched as he could not get there until later in the day anyway. He proved to be correct about the ComEd line. This was impressive as Jamie turned down work for himself when he could have made an easy $100 or so. Hence my high rating on "professionalism." Clar sounds like a good small business that could come in handy for non-emergency electrical situations, but I probably will look elsewhere if I need quick 24-hour emergency service.

Jamie was very professional and provided helpful tips on the outdoor lighting system and bulbs to use. Before coming he also emailed me to try a couple of tests as well. I would recommend them to others,

My outside lights, garage lights, foyer lights, and dining room and kitchen lights were out because of a blown circuit breaker. I described the problem to Jamie, who was able to come over the same evening because he was in the area.Jamie located and fixed the problem very quickly, and restored power to my condo. Definitely would recommend him for any electrical work, and will be calling him again in future!

Arrived a little early which was great. We needed 2 outdoor outlets replaced. It turned out to be a bit more complicated of a job but the gentleman found a solution. It even started to lightly rain and it got dark but he finished the job to our satisfaction.He checked to make sure everything worked properly before leaving. Very courteous and responsive.
