It was fantastic. Rick and Tony are amazing - knowledgeable, professional and have an insane attention to detail They were with me every step of the way from planning through construction. What was most interesting to me is that a good friend was doing the exact same renovation as I was, at the same time, but with different contractors. My experience was tremendous - hers was not. Just goes to show that a good contractor is a rare find. If you are looking for people who excel at their craft, are fair and honest and will show up until the job is done - Rick and Tony are the people for you.

We had 2 bathrooms that were showing their age in our 37 year old home. The guest bath was given a bad attempt at updating by the previous owners...tried to cover up bright blue tub and tile with white enamel paint which started to chip away. The other fixtures were just badly dated and showed lots of wear. Master bath was not much better...all brass fixtures and emerald green shower and countertop. We hired ACS to update the look and make them more functional. Rick and Tony and Larry did a fantastic job! Gutted the both baths down to the studs. Installed new tub, wall tile, sinks, floors...the works. What was most important in this project was our time. We did not have a lot of it to go around store to store and look at endless tile samples, vanities, and counter tops. We discussed our needs with Rick. We wanted functional, not fancy. There were a few things we were specific about but many other things we left to his expertise and invited suggestions. We gave him a color palate we wanted to from with and he brought over several tile choices and combinations and let us pick what we liked. That saved us A LOT of time. All we had to do was go to the local hardware super store and pick out our faucets, towel bars, light fixtures, and mirror. ACS was not the lowest bid we received for the project but other contractors required us to go and buy everything first and then they'd come and install it. With limited time to work with, we were willing to pay more for the convenience of not having to do a lot of running around and we feel we got great value for our money. Rick and his guys have an obvious passion for their craft. Their attention to detail is impressive. We couldn't be more pleased with the outcome and look forward to having two bathrooms that we and our house guests can enjoy for many years to come.

Rick has been very responsive to bidding. Last year, the company rebuilt our two level deck for approximately $10k. That went well and was handled in a timely and professional manner by Rick, Larry and Tony. This year's job was substantially smaller. I had sought bids from 2 other contractors. Both of them showed up and promised to get back shortly with bids. Neither of them has responded to inquiries since I first spoke with them in April. Bad businessmen. Rick and his team were very responsive in providing a bid. There was some delay to getting the project done. However, it was weather related. Whenever I needed to contact Rick, he always was available or quickly responded. Among my concerns was the exterior venting of the upstairs exhaust fan based upon news articles I'd reviewed. Rick layer to rest my concerns and provided two fans that are significantly quieter than the ones they replaced. Overall, the company is not the least expensive but they are professional, reliable and do great work. I'd highly recommend them.

I had used Rick and Tony at my previous home and was so please with the work, I called them to remodel my new kitchen. My husband and I loved the granite and they were able to help us design a new kitchen and re-use the granite. They helped with the re-design, cabinet selection, color selection of wood and paint. Rick and Tony are great to work with. They treated my kitchen (and my home) as if it were theirs. They cleaned up each day, kept me informed of the progress, and gave me their opinions and were easy to discuss the work with. Our kitchen was transformed from white cabinets and terra cotta granite, to warm wood cabinets that really blend well with the granite. Two cabinets have glass fronts with lighting (their idea) and are a beautiful way to show off glasses. The finished result is a spacious, warm and elegant kitchen. It was an record warm summer, and we had issues with our air conditioner. They did not complain about the heat and even brought industrial fans to help circulate the air in the kitchen. They arrived on time every day and were cheerful and personanble . We are very happy with the quality of the work. We would not hesitate to recommend this Company to anyone - professional, personable and respectful. Rick and Tony will work with you to design your dream space and with minimal interruption to your life and your home. Thank you Advanced Construction Solutions - even better the second time!

This house is 100 years old. The plumbing, style, and decor was from the 1950's. Rick and his team from ACS had their work cut out for them, but Rick said they could do anything. Sooo, all the existing plumbing was replaced. Mid City plumbing did a great job and they finished in just a couple of days. Then came the demolition of the bathroom...needless to say the pile out back was over 9 feet tall. The entire bathroom and office was reconfigured to give us more room in the bathroom, in which we included a new linen closet. The bathroom walls were done in porcelain, the floor in large rectangular stone, the shower had several areas of detail; pebbled floor, mosaic inset, pebbled inset around the shower head and controls. We chose a shower, no bathtub since we are not bath people and an adjoining private toilet area. Mike and Larry from ACS were the best. The tile work and all that goes into tile if anyone out there has ever done it, you know how tedious it is and the amount of detail to make the tile pop. Mike did exactly that. Tony , who is the co-owner of ACS did all the paint work. Just beautiful. Mike did all the trim for the new doors and each room. He made all new sills for the windows as well. Mike even mowed our lawn when we couldn't get to the garage. We couldn't believe a company would go to such lengths. Rick had a new wood floor put in the office. We picked a butterscotch color to go with the athenian green for the walls. The glass company came next for the shower. That was the final touch. During all of this, Rick was in touch with me every couple of days. Since this was our only bathroom, we stayed in a hotel while this was being done. The work went so smoothly and hardly a hitch as some remodeling projects can be a horror. This remodeling project was a dream. We have already made plans for additional changes in our home and of course ACS will be doing it. I would refer this company to anyone, anytime, for any remodeling job big or small, this is the company to call.
Description of Work: Our contractor, Rick, was exemplary when it came to carrying out the plans we had for the bathroom and office. Anything we created in our minds, he had the resources to make it come to life. Our bathroom is a work of art. His team were the best craftsman I've seen in a long time. From the new installed plumbing to the final trim in the office...beautiful.

WONDERFUL !!Painless ! Rick and Tony made our dream come true! fair price - clean , on time , no detail left to chance .Treated our project as their number 1 priority . ACS brought in a designer and with her help and Rick Howe's ( co owner ) they created a model that would transform my tiny ( 9x12 ) space with 4 cabinets into a cook friendly space with 12 cabinets - a new arched entrance into my Dining Room and miles of granite work area. ( counter ) The overall look is spacious and warm and elegant. Our old kitchen ( the original 63 yr old Georgian ) was transformed completely . The cabinets, ceiling, and floor removed . We were helped every step along the way from choosing the cabinets and tile to finalizing the actual layout of the new Kitchen Going into this project we had no idea what was possible . . For anyone who knows they need a new kitchen - but don't have a clue where to begin . This will be your first and ONLY call!! . They made what could have been a nightmare into a seamless well organized production . The workers were obsessively clean , bringing in industrial fans and vacuums to minimize contain the dust during demolition. They even sealed off the work area with a zippered heavy plastic " wall .and protected our carpeting for the entire first floor . They arrived on time every day and were cheerful and personanble . If there was any problems -I never knew about them because Rick took care of it while sparing us the drama . They had to move Duct work and rewire all the electric . They even brought our old circuit box up to code so that we could use our basement as a temporary kitchen during the process - giving us extra outlets and they changred the faucet in my laundry tub so that i could use it to wash dishes . We only paid for parts - no extra charge . We tiled the 13 steps fo the basement and since we chose Porclein tile . Each step had 15 cuts on it . The finished product is a work of art ! My husband and I cannot say enough about the quality of the work and the extradorinary beauty of the finished product . We would not hesitate to recommend this Company to anyone ~ For professional craftmanship and personable respectful Tradesman ( usally an oxymoron in today's world ! ) We actually were sad to have Rick and his workers finish the project - they were all so great to have around - . Thank you Advance Construction Solutions for giving me my Dream Tuscan Kitchen at a fair price !!

We came in contact with ACS through our purchase of cabinets and counter tops through Costco for our Kitchen renovation. During the bidding process we also chose them to complete our plumbing and carpentry work. I completed the demo and painting myself and had a good friend who is an electrician do the electrical. Hardwood floors were replaced by another contractor. Tony and Rick are without question the most professional contractors I have ever worked with. Not only are they fairly priced, they are dedicated, honest, punctual, detailed, and are very neat. Having completed several projects in the past with mixed results with other contractors, ACS delivered on every level. Best of all there were no major surprises to speak of during the project. Any issues that arose, and there were not many, they took care of it. They were also flexible and accommodated any changes that we had along the way. I purchases a pad and protect package to protect my new floors and the pathway to and from the outside that was money well spent. They cleaned up daily and especially at the end like it was their own house. They even helped bring out my garbage on two different pick up days. If you think this is too good to be true, give them a call and see for yourself. I have dealt with many sub par contractors in the past, and it was refreshing to discover ACS. My wife and I will definitely be using them on future projects.

We had a total kitchen remodel - including rearranging all of the appliances, new cabinets and counter tops, tile floor and back-splash, and new lighting. We are very happy with the results! The work was performed on time, on budget and with meticulous attention to detail. They cleaned up after themselves continuously. Rick was there every day and was a pleasure to work with. We will definitely use them again for any future remodeling work!

Our job was a total kitchen up-date, and painting and new crown moulding added to the living room and dining room. We had intended to use a different contractor, but after he refused to correct inferior work he performed in our laundry room, we needed to find a new contractor quickly due to the impending delivery of our cabinets. Fortunately, ACS was sympathetic to our situation and squeezed us into their schedule. Tony and Rick, his partner, are down-to-earth and honest. We liked the fact that one of them would be on the job at all times. Their price was higher than we had expected to pay, but the end-result was well worth it and they were well within the range of quotes we got from other Angie's contractors. Habitat for Humanity had already removed our entire kitchen, but Tony had to correct for several things like missing pieces (brand new garbage disposal) unavoidable wall damage, etc. Tony used only one man to assist with hanging the cabinets, the crown moulding and painting, so we had no strange people running around our house. His partner, Rick, also helped on two occasions. Tony gave valuable advice based on his many years of experience, which we appreciated. Tony ran into an electrical challenge with our new electric stove because we were moving it's location one foot to the right. The electrical connection on the floor did not match up with the stove connection. But he was able to resolve it without busting thru the ceiling of our new basement. That one foot move also created issues with ventilation for the microwave we were installing overhead. Again, Tony resolved this without the need for a second hole in our house. The desk area in our kitchen is angular on one side, again requiring Tony to make accomodations to the cabinetry, which he did quite well. Tony and ACS are detail-oriented and meticulous. They are also very patient and respectful of your wishes and property. They took great care coming and going on our new hardwood floors (installed prior to their hiring). The work could have been completed sooner, but we were indecisive on a few things. We are extremely pleased with the work performed. Our kitchen is gorgeous and our dining room and living room look like new. ACS's work is high-quality and Tony and Rick are trustworthy. I would not hesistate to use ACS again, or to recommend them highly.

Description of Work: Tony and Rick have been the most professional group of contractors that I have worked with. They are spot on with their quotes and work. The do an amazing job not only with the finishings of a project, they consult what is the best options for the project at hand. They completely gutted and finished my bathroom. Plumbing, electrical, tile work and drywall. They also finished it off with an amazing paint job. I was so pleased with the job I had them do my basement as well. They are punctual, clean and knowledgable in there business. I have recommended them to many friends who also have had the same positive results. If you want your job done right and not drag on, I would call these two! Thanks Tony and Rick for a fantastic job!!
We have been so happy with the work that Rick and Tony have done. If we come up with more projects we will be using ACS. They are clean, on time and trustworthy.
Description of Work: Since we have moved into our home in 1999 we have used Rick and Tony for many projects. The most recent was completed early this year, they repaired cracks in ceilings and then painted, Replaced 3 bathroom faucets, installed a pocket door in the master bath...which we absolutely love! Installed lighting in master bath, replaced canned lighting in the master bedroom and then painted both rooms plus the closet. In previous jobs they installed sky lights, remodeled our kitchen plus three bathrooms, installed ceiling fans, finished a partial basement, tiled a mud room and changed the height of ceilings in the family room and master bedroom.
Early in 2011, I made the decision to upgrade the kitchen and bathroom of my 32 year old ranch home since most of the materials and fixtures were pretty much original equipment. I had a clear idea of what I wanted done and now had to find someone I could trust to do the work. After interviewing and rejecting a few general contractors, I came upon Advanced Construction Solutions right here on Angie's List. There were only a few reviews, but they were glowing and I now know why. I think it was late March when I called ACS for a quote. I spoke with Tony and we met within a day or so. When he arrived at my home, I was immediately impressed by the fact that he was exactly on time (a characteristic that was displayed, more or less, throughout the entire remodeling). Our initial conversation went great. He told me that he and his partner, Rick, have been in business about 10 years (I think) and have extensive experience in both kitchen and bath remodeling. He assured me that if I contracted ACS to do the work, he and Rick would be the ones in my home as they do not sub-contract the work to others. Tony also assured me that once ACS began my work, they would not interrupt it by working on other jobs. I was very impressed with Tony's honesty and professionalism and was convinced that ACS was truly dedicated to doing a quality job. I decided at this point that we could work together. Tony recommended that I meet with his designer, Cathey, and about a week later, Tony, Rick, and Cathey came to my home. I took everyone through the house and explained what my general ideas were for the kitchen and bath upgrades. While I sat with Cathey deciding on the material and style of the custom cabinets, Tony and Rick examined the work areas to take measurements and begin estimating labor costs. Before they all left, I agreed to pay Cathey a standard fee for a set of drawings (cabinet layout and tile designs) for both rooms. She said it would take about a week to provide them and Tony agreed to give me a detailed, written estimate for both jobs (one for the kitchen and one for the bath) when the drawings were complete. Again, I was very impressed with the level of professionalism. I received written quotes that were within my budget requirements and we signed our contracts on April 15. Now there was nothing to do but take a time out until the cabinets were fabricated which I was told would take 6 - 8 weeks. I used this time to do all the shopping for tile, appliances, bathroom fixtures, bathtub, toilet, sinks, etc. The cabinets were ready and demolition began on June 22. Tony and Rick paid a great deal of attention to keeping the work areas as clean as possible during the entire process. I was living in the house during this entire project and they made every effort to minimize the inevitable disruptions. The work progressed on time and there were many times that I was able to make minor changes without any objections from Tony or Rick. They also made suggestions themselves on things they've experienced that I agreed would be improvements I had not thought of. None of these changes incurred any costs above the original quote. The materials that ACS provided were always of the highest quality that I am certain will last long after I leave. All the work was completed on September 19, almost to the day of the estimated completion date. On time and only a little over budget (the latter was my fault for upgrading some materials and appliances - lots of marble in the bath and double wall ovens in the kitchen, for starters), but the finished product is amazing. Three months of in-home construction is not a pleasant thing but Advanced Construction Solutions working for me and with me every step of the way made the experience almost painless. I'm very happy with the results.
Description of Work: ACS performed a complete demolition and remodeling upgrade to my 30 year old bathroom and kitchen, including all tile (floor and wall), electrical and plumbing upgrades, installations, carpentry and painting.

Everything went well. They came in on day #1 and started the demolition work, which was done quickly. At least 1 of the 2 owners of the company were on site every day and they were professional and easy and comfortable to work with. During the construction process, we had to be out of town and had no concern with allowing them access to the house and continuing to work. They were both very normal people. My wife, being type A is a very neat person and does not hit the curve ball well, so this construction project was a big thing for her. This company kept things neat during the week and a few times during the process removed the plastic floor coverings over the weekend so she could feel like the house was normal for the weekend. They continued perfoming all the work doing the carpentry, plumbing and electrical and most of the tiling themselves, but at certain times they brought is a specialist for tile and drywall taping just so they could help speed the process along. They also had a specialists for the shower base as this is an art form from what I understand to get the draining process correct, so water does not puddle. They kept things moving all the way down to the detail at the end of the project. Rick was at the house personally and likes to make sure all the little details are handled correctly and the finished product looks perfect. I have before and after photos if needed. It has been almost 2 months since they finished and I love our bathroom. At this stage, we have not found anything we would have changed.
Description of Work: Full Bathroom remodel. They helped us determine the most usable layout given the space restrictions involved and what we told them we wanted in a bathroom. They partnered with a designer at no cost to us to help my wife pick out all the cabinetry, tile, tub, fixtures etc. Based on the layout, the whole bathroom need torn down to the studs. They built a 2 tier or tray ceiling, raising the ceiling by almost 24", so we could hang the chandelier. They had to relocate most all the plumbing and electrical. We moved the doorway to the bathroom and the closet to allow for his and her vanities. They added a Toilet room, Steam shower with hand held shower, Standard Shower, Body jets and a rain shower. They tiled an accent wall and added a stand alone bubble jet tub with floor mounted faucet and hand shower. The tile floor was heated and we added a heated towel bar.
5 *****STARS! And I am an extremely hard grader. See above paragraph! When you enter into a partnership with these two owners Rick and Tony here is what you will get. Talented, caring professionals that deliver what they say they will do, in the time they say they will do it, and at the price they quote you. They have amazing respect for your home, leaving it in a very clean livable condition during the time it takes them to complete the work. They are multi functionally and can do the majority of the work themselves, that way you are not wasting time for subcontractors to show up or worrying about who is doing the work and who is in your home. They have a wide network of experts to call on if they are not able to do a piece or part of the project they find the best and have it done. They are owners in the project and have great pride and commitment to ensure that your experience with their Company ACS exceeds your expectations. On a side note, I had a personal experience that occurred during the middle our the remodel that caused me to be absence a lot. My father was diagnosed with colon cancer, last Feb and I lost him in May '10. Talk about a lot on your plate, in addition to my crazy work schedule that has me traveling coast to coast. These two professionals not only helped pick up the slack but went the extra mile for me while I was caring for my father, they truly became a part of my family and friend circle. Very rare indeed! It was one of the most enjoyable experiences of my life in dealing with any kind of home remodel or repair during one of the most stressful times in my life. Call these guys first if you need help. TRUST me you will not be disappointed.
Description of Work: Complete Remodel for living room, bathroom and kitchen for main floor in 4 story townhouse. To Include all electrical, plumbing, construction, new wood floor, removal of an existing wall, installation for a new wall, removal of all existing materials, and everything that is needed to complete a job of this complexity. Rick and Tony (the owners) provided a true full service approach to home remodel and are a totally hands on service during what can be especially stressful time. From the start of the project which was just an initial consultation to the final day of the project they over delivered on what my expectations were for my home remodel. Here are just a few of the things that stand out. They do the majority of the work themselves and work with very few subcontractors so exposure to your home is limited to these 2 professionals. They treat your home as they would their own, I am not kidding they quickly became part of my inner circle as I got to witness their professionalism and attention to detail to make my home project sparkle. If they did use a contractor for some of the work, they were on site to ensure the quality and standard of workmanship was up to their expectations. They provide a complete service of professionals no matter what the scope of your project. They can handle it. For example when I started I had no idea of how I wanted to remodel my main floor, just a few ideas. They work with a designer (Cathy) who with in a weeks time came back with a recommendation for how we could create my dream kitchen and living area with in the space I had available. This original design did become the blue print for how we would move forward. Tony and Rick coordinated everything and were extremely respectful of my time and my home. AS issues came up, and they do, I was informed of the situation and depending on what the outcome was they either took care of it, or offered solutions and we kept moving forward. They worked with all of the deliveries and installations for the new appliances as they we needed. HUGE.... Did not have to take off work or deal with other companies... Rick and Tony just handled it. As I sit here today I would recommend Tony and Rick to anyone I meet, and I would know that the experience would have a positive outcome. I have many friends who have horror stories when it comes to doing home remodels, it is a very stressful time. Rick and Tony with their attention to detail, their overall professionalism, their character, their talent and their dedication to perfection and excellence helps to avoid pitfalls that may happen, and solve issues or obstacles that occur along the way. My home is beautiful! : )
