ABC Humane Wildlife Control & Landmark Pest Mgt

Saturday evening we saw a skunk in our backyard shed. I called ABC right away. I was pleased to find out they would do the work the next day on a Sunday. They gave me a 3 hour window. We received a call that they were running a few minutes late but were on their way. Phil was professional, knowledgable and fast. He hand captured the skunk within 10 minutes of arrival. I was pleased we didn't have to set a trap and pay for another visit to retrieve the skunk. The skunk did spray a bit, but it was not bad at all. I will definitely call them again and recommend them highly to anyone needing critter removal.

I thought I had a skunk under my front porch. They came out and set the trap and two days later the trap was sprung but it was a false alarm. They came out again and reset the trap and showed me how to do it so if it happened again i could do it. A week later they came and took the trap as the skunk must have moved on.

I looked this company up on Angie's list based on my son and daughter-in-law experience having them remove racoons from under their porch. Their tech was particularly sensitive in explaining things to my 5 yr grandson. I noticed 5 young skunks in my deep window Saturday evening and called ABC. The answering service tech was knowledgeable and together we decided that I didn't need and emergency visit that night. She said someone would call me at 8:15 Sunday AM; someone did and scheduled a service call for Sunday between 10AM and noon. The tech came at ~11AM and preformed the above services. He was very friendly to me and humane to the skunks.

It turned out well. They did a nice job. We have used them annually for three years.

The work has always turned out great because I haven’t had any problems since. They have been doing work for me for years and I have no complaints. They show when they say they will and they do what they say they are going to do. We have referred them to other people.

On Sunday we heard something crawling around our roof but when we were leaving for Church I noticed this little furry face looking down on us up in the rafters of our garage. We tried to encourage him down with walnuts but he was having none of it. So we left leaving the garage door down hoping he would EXIT. Well he managed to get into the laundry room ceiling and into the soffits of our kitchen and I knew we had to do something. So I called my husband and said what do we do and he remembered our March Edition of ANGIES LIST (thank goodness) and opened it up and called ABC HumaneControl. Matt came out on a Sunday and got the traps all setup and answered all my questions and calmed my fears. On Monday he was caught in the first trap in the garage and I was so happy ! Matt came back and I would call ABC again (but I hope not to) they were EXCEPTIONAL and would call them again and recommend them to anyone.

Their prices were incredibly high! I was not at all happy with their service. I?m still having the same squirrel issue, but would not contact ABC again.

I had heard faint scratching noises in the eaves of the roof for a few weeks, but since the sounds were not in my house proper, I did not worry. However, the scratching sounds gave way to the sound of animals running inside my walls and ceilings. At that point I contacted ABC to investigate. They responded within a day, and I told them that I had spied a squirrel peering out of a hole in the fascia. A trap was set, and a squirrel was trapped within 3 hours. After that, the noises ceased. We continued to have the traps set for another 2 captures. Unfortunately, the hole in the fascia is within 5 feet of power lines. I was told that since the hole was so close, they would not be able to place a sensor to determine if any squirrels were still coming and going from the hole. So, to be safe, we had to trap others from the neighborhood and wait a few days to be certain that no other squirrels were going into my home. So, my case provided a problem that required extra cost, but this was not their fault, but the fault of the situation. The only regret is that the cost of the service normally includes the plugging of all holes that are providing access to the animals. However, because of my home's power lines, they could not provide that service, and I am having to hire a contractor at extra cost to plug the holes. I understand that all situations are different, but not only did I have to pay extra to be certain that the squirrels I was catching were not from my house but I had to also pay extra to get the holes plugged by another contractor. However, for the trapping service, they are top-notch, and I would use them again.

We had a bat in our bedroom! My husband trapped it, but we wanted to have it tested for rabies, because our baby sleeps in that bedroom, too, and if you are bitten you die! So, we called the police, animal control and the emergency vet and no one would help us. Our pediatrician recommended this company, and they said they would be able to test the bat. They came and took the bat away and the man was very knowledgeable about why you need to test it for rabies. Then the next day we had another man come to inspect the attic and the outside for a bat colony and entrance points. Finally, we had a third man come to plug up vents and possible entrances from the outside. Each person was incredibly nice! I liked every one of them! They were knowledgeable, courteous, and cheerful. A very good experience.

Everything was excellent. They were very accomodating and always called ahead to ensure it was a convenient time for me. They safely removed the nest and thoroughly inspected all other windows and roof vents for any signs of wasps. Ultimately, the gentleman walked away with 7 or 8 nests.

The inspectors were clean cut and knowledgeable about what to do. Since we live near a quarry, we're considering signing up for a quarterly program.

Went great. The appointment was set for a Sunday and they were there when they said they would be. Job was completed timely and they were very neat. Since I had a trap set, they followed up to check if anything had been caught, (the answer was no). After about 5 days had passed without trapping anything, they came back to seal up the remaining holes. An entry point that was on the outside of my property which was sealed using silicone was not aesthetically pleasing, they returned within a few days and resealed it using concrete. I received follow up phone calls to make sure I was happy, as well as prior to every visit advising me they were on their way. Additionally, two months later (Nov. 2010) - ABC came out to seal some minor cracks in my garage at no charge. I am extremely pleased with ABC's customer service and professionalism.

Called on a Sunday for removal of an animal in my basement, a skunk. Next day, The next day, they dropped off traps to catch the remaining family. It was a terrible ordeal for my wife and me. Total over 6 weeks we caught 5 skunks and 7 possums. Cost a lot of money to solve my problem but was not their fault I had these critters around. Their people are some of the most nicest tempered employees you can have. Courtesy is number one with this company. I saw some reviews where people were upset they do not come out right away. Not true, they come out within the time set by the animal humane people and besides, the skunks are put down and I believe the possums are also. Does not matter the time, just get rid of these things that are invading my home. Highly recommend there services.

We recently had a raccoon in a Bridgeport loft building that I have my art studio in. There were many (about 8 ) sightings of this raccoon by several different tenants (on 3 different floors). I had heard from my friends who live in the north-west suburbs about ABC Humane Wildlife Rescue and Relocation. They were quite pleased with the experience they had with ABC the year before with a similar situation (a possum who wanted to sleep in their basement for the winter... next to the laundry machine!). They felt that ABC had really lived up to their name, as their possum was relocated quite humanely (as far as they know... they said he seemed happy when he was carried out in a cage). So I gave ABC a call. However, when we spoke, they suggested that we call the City of Chicago Animal Control first since ABC normally doesn't service that far south of the Loop. They said that Animal Control may be able to respond a little quicker since they were closer (plus it's is a free city service). When I contacted the city right after (which was on a Friday morning), they said that someone else would get back with me shortly. Friday ended, and no call from the Animal Control... Saturday and Sunday came and went too. So Monday, I gave ABC a call and told them we hadn't heard from the City and that we REALLY needed their help (the raccoon was starting to freak some people out when he'd pop out in the hallway. I spoke with the manager of my building and got the OK to work with ABC on this persistent (and unwanted) deadbeat tenant of a raccoon. Fortunately, to my happy surprise (and with some points earned for me in the eyes of the building manager... Not enough to lower my rent though) ABC showed up less than 3 hours later with traps in hand. The two guys who came in (one elder "expert" who was assisted by a younger version of himself... both really friendly and amazingly knowledgeable). I felt like I was watching an episode of some animal rescue show on the Discovery Channel. The guys explained to us why the raccoon chose our warm building to hang out in (as winter was approaching and some artists made a habit of leaving their food out in and around the building). They each had a humane looking cage baited with peanut butter. Each guy put a cage on one of two floors that the raccoon was most seen on. They told us to periodically check the cages (about every 3-6 hours) and to call them when we saw the raccoon in the cage. Later Monday night, the evening maintenance guy found a very calm and sedate raccoon happily eating peanut butter while trapped inside a cage around 9:45 PM. He called ABC that night and they informed him that they would be contacting us and sending someone by on Tuesday. And as promised, early Tuesday afternoon, another friendly guy from ABC came by and picked up both of the cages... one with a sleeping raccoon inside (in a peanut butter induced food coma... just like Thanksgiving). He told us to keep our eyes out for more raccoons in the near future and to keep the doors to the outside closed, garbage shut away tightly, and to not leave food around the building. We do that now... so far so good... no more unwanted "bandits" hanging out in the hallway. Overall, the professional and knowledgeable wildlife experts at ABC not only put us at ease as they helped us with our problem... but they also educated us on understanding why we had it and how not to have it again. My friends were absolutely right... these guys are the best. Quick, Professional, Knowledgeable, Friendly and Fair (not as cheap as animal control... but you OBVIOUSLY get what you pay for)! Suburbs and City... if you prefer your wildlife at a little greater distance... ABC Humane Wildlife Animal Rescue and Relocation can arrange that "relocation" for you... and do it Humanely.

Overall, I had an excellent experience. ABC sounded very knowledgeable on the phone when I called, and the technician who came out was very professional and patient. He even knocked down a wasp nest that he found on my patio for no additional charge. I really liked that the company truck was discrete looking and unmarked so my neighbors weren't upset over a potential pest problem in the building.

Over the summer, I had my upstairs windows open while I was at work. At some point, a bat must have flown in through one of the windows, because when I got home there was one flying in my bedroom. Unsure of what to do (and a bit freaked out), I closed my door and went over to a friend's house. A family friend recommended ABC Wildlife to me, so I gave them a call. The staff was courteous and prompt. The bat was removed and tested for rabies. At the conclusion of the test they called me and told me that it did not have rabies (thankfully) and that it was able to be released. Everything was reasonably priced, and I appreciated their quick response and follow-up.

My mother had a bee problem by her front door light fixture. I called them and they were very flexible about scheduling because I wanted to be there with my mother when they came by. They explained everything to her and I both and took care of the problem she'd been having all Summer. I would recommend them!

We have been having a skunk problem beneath our patio and called ABC Humane Wildlife to help us because a neighbor highly reccomended them. The staff were friendly and so knowledgeable that we wanted to know more about how they were trained. Apparently, this business is owned by people that really know their stuff, (a Biologist/Beekeeper and even an Anthropologist), and who make certain that their staff is rigorously trained to deal with any animal situation. These people are respectful of the animals they deal with as well as of your property. I'd call them back in a heartbeat and plan to in the Spring to deal with the Wasp problem that started this Summer.

Once the inspection was complete and the trap was installed, we were given specific instructions on checking the traps and calling in any animals caught. A few days later the raccoon exited the attic right into the trap. We called to report and a technician was out that evening to remove the animal. Just in time before she gave birth in our attic.

It turned out great. They came twice, two different years about two years apart. They were very nice. They put the traps down. The checked outside to see where they might be coming form. We check on the traps. We called when they had worked and they came and picked the animal up. They do a good job. They are very specific about what you have to do a ne very cooperative. They come when they say they will come.

It was fine. We have used them twice in the past couple of years. The only problem is that I have never received invoices for the work, which made it difficult during tax season. They did fine work and I would recommend them.

They were way too expensive. They charge each time they came out. I had another company come out that charged one flat rate. Both companies trapped the animal and were polite but this company was 3 times more expensive.
