ABC Humane Wildlife Control & Landmark Pest Mgt

Very flexible and accommodating in setting up initial appointment. Once here and inspection done, wanted to immediately set traps and get me on a "program". I asked for addl info, and a quote by email but it was never recd. I followed up we an email to the technician and he never replied. I may have considered the services for general pest control but the service is not there to stand behind them.. Too bad.

The good: Responsive and on-time. We called for service on a Friday and they said the earliest they could come was Sunday. They called Sunday morning at 9am and gave us a window of 2:00-4:00. They arrived within that window and the gentleman was very professional and courteous. The bad: I was ripped off. I do not have any knowledge about the wildlife control and prevention market. The employee looked at the woodpecker holes and said he had a sound deterrent that would keep the woodpeckers away and would be able to patch and paint the damage. The sound deterrent cost ~$600 and the repair was ~$400. I don't know any better and I didn't want additional damage so we bought it. He installed the deterrent and then told me another employee would come out, Tuesday at the earliest, to repair the damage. Great. He leaves and the deterrent is doing its thing. My curiosity gets the best of me and I search for the deterrent online to find out the device costs ~$200. I was p***** but I blamed myself for failing to do the research before hand. Nevertheless, a 300% markup seems outrageous. The day after, Monday morning, I receive a call saying they are coming out to repair and paint the damage. I asked, "what happened to Tuesday? No one will be home to give you the paint." The employee had no idea what I was walking about and said, "oh, let me look into that and call you back." I never received a return call. I called them on Tuesday and asked them when they were coming out and we finally coordinated and the came out on Thursday and they did fix the damage and did a decent job. However, the person came without a paint brush. Not sure how he was planning to paint the patches without a brush. Luckily, we were able to find one and give to him. About one week into this, the deterrent seems to be working; no woodpeckers and the sound is not too annoying and is pretty realistic. I'm just aggravated about the gouging and I'll know better next time. I would use them again because they are professional and rather reliable, but I'll definitely price shop before using them.

First, I have to say that whenever we've had work done or called them, they are unfailingly polite. And that is pretty much where it ends. The first time they set up traps in our attic and said they would be back to check in a month. A month later they came out and said they needed to remove the mice traps from our attic because there was squirrel activity they hadn't noticed before. So they set up a trap on our roof and told us to call right away should a squirrel get caught in the trap and they would come right away and remove the squirrel (it was the DEAD of winter). The second time the squirrel got caught, we called and no one came. We called again and by the time they came (apologizing for the "mix-up") the squirrel was already dead. Everytime they leave, they always say, "someone will call?someone will be in touch," etc. No one ever is. It's always on us to call them. I don't think they've ever came on their own accord (like Chem-Wise does). So, after they said they were sure they caught the squirrels, I had to call to have someone come back out and put traps in the attic again. They were supposed to come after a month and check--I had to call after at least 6 weeks to 2 months. Also, we had woodpecker issues and they sold us a super expensive deterrent device. No training on it (as they assured us they would do), no manual or anything. We had to finally take it down ourselves because our neighbor complained about the noise. They assured us someone would be out to change the setting on it for us. No one came. They told us someone would come out and check the perimeter of our house and find any holes where mice could get in--this never happened. I called last week to ask for a refund on the woodpecker device and the woman said she could tell our case was being reviewed (how? I didn't know we were being reviewed?) and she would have Vito call me back. It's been over 2 days. This is just par for the course. Lots of promises and nothing is ever done without us having to chase them down. The service is SO BAD. And the prices are pretty high.

Our attic is not accessible from the inside, so they had to build scaffolding from the outside, set traps on the scaffold and seal up the access hole the squirrels were using. The work was done well; but $2800 for removing a couple of squirrels seemed excessive (even with the added costs of erecting the scaffolding). But they were the only company out of 4 requests that was even willing to tackle the job

We had ground squirrels and there was nothing they could do.

We signed up for a one year, 4-6 treatment plan with ABC Humane Wildlife as we had a big problem with chipmunks invading under the platform for our small shed. The identified the problem immediately and walked us around the yard to explain what the chipmunks were doing and how they would help us control the problem. They placed 4 semi-enclosed bait stations in the yard where the most traffic would be. They called and came out every 3-4 months to check the stations and refill as needed. They would always stop to give us an update on the amount of activity around the stations. They are very thorough! We also had them install the metal cages around the dryer/exhaust vents to keep the birds out. I am very pleased with the quality and services received from ABC Humane Wildlife. Their personnel is polite, friendly and very knowledgable. I would highly recommend them to anyone who requires this type of service.

Appointment was kept as scheduled, and all went smoothly.

I think that overall, they did a great job. They're a bit pricey, and the process felt like it was going on for a long time, but this, I think, is due to the nature of what they do. Not easy to force animals into traps! All employees were very professional, knowledgeable, friendly and efficient. Everything was handled exactly as they said it would be. I would definitely recommend them to others.

Professional work completed by staff who knew what they were doing. They were also dependable, reliable and made the job look easy.

Damage was obviously done by a raccoon, but only squirrels were caught. Repair to soffit was successful and no return of raccoon.

It went okay. Technician wasn't sure what screening went on what vent. Dryer vent required a stainless steel screening and the fan exhaust vents required regular plastic screening. No birds or nest in the one fan exhaust vent. The prices on thescreening was rather expensive $150 for the stainless steel and $65 per plastic screening totalling $345. I understand that labor is built into the price but I still felt it was expensive but on the one vent they required a 32 foot ladder to install that vent which should have cost more than the other two vents which were only about 12 ft off the ground. The stainless steel screening was installed 2 ft off the ground. The labor costs should be relative to the intensity of the involved labor. Since they're the only provider in my area I really have no choice to use them again un less I do the work myself.

It went great! For the price of the coupon on their site I felt I got more than what I paid for! VERY SATISFIED!!!

We highly recommend ABC Wildlife and would certainly use them again! They came out when they said they would. Every person we dealt with were professional, knowledgeable and considerate. They even worked with our insurance company on pricing when costs were not aligned on some items.

For last service, too soon to tell. But service is always great, professional and they stand by their service. For previous services, we have always been very satisfied.

It went very well. He trapped two racoons and removed them to another location.H e also replaced attic insulation and replaced the damage the racoons did to my new roof.

They came out, they told me where the spot were and I would be very expensive. I like their responsiveness, the flexibility of the schedule and the communication was really good.

Service went well and they gave me the information I needed to go to my association and take care of the problem.

The men who came to the house to remove the skunks (3 in all) were very professional. They also answered all my questions thoroughly. They also informed me of what my husband and I could do to prevent more animals from making a home underneath our patio.

It's fine but it's way too expensive. I used it because I had a bad experience before in my previous house. He checked the attic but he didn't checked the attic in the garage because he didn't have a tall ladder. When he went out and checked around the house, he told me that our dryer outside and the vent in our bathroom had to be covered by a metal cover to protect animals to get in. I just don't want to take any risk so I accepted it. He charged me 494$ for the covering of 5 vents including the dryer vent. I just felt it was too much, he was quoting me 150$ each before and then he reduced the price to 100$ each and to cover just a piece of metal, I just felt it was too expensive. We are in a gulf area and pond so there are many birds, they fly sometimes on the of our roof. He did a good job of checking the attic but I'm not sure if it is the regular price of the company like that.

A representative came out for an initial inspection to determine what needed to be done. He provided us with the punch list above. However, the price provided was based on each service being done separately, which I did not know until after the fact and having to talk with the owner. I was told the rep could have called in to get approval for discounts but he never offered to make the call and quoted "menu" pricing. The tech followed a couple days later and removed the nexts and patched the attic vents with a heavy duty metal screen to keep birds out in the future. Following my inspection of the work later that night, I noticed he failed vacuum up the debris and also didn't apply the mite powder that was promised that would kill pests that the birds may have left behind. I promptly called the office and they apologized and remedied the situation when they cam out to install the chimney screens (those were done right). He used the same metal screen to patch the woodpecker hole and installed the "deterent". The "deterent" turned out to be a $15 mylar "octopus" that he screwed into the siding of our house. However, they charged $110 for it. I was extremely angry for the price given the tech was already up on the ladder to patch the hole and was charging for that. I got the $110 waived after a long discussion with the owner. After a lot of frustration, the work was finally done correctly. However, if I knew better, I would have negotiated the pricing better based on the number of services that were provided and the actual hours required to provide them. Way too expensive for the amount of services provided. I will use someone else if I encounter future pest problems and be more aware of prices.

I used this company in 2005 and they charged me $1100 to remove a squirrel from my attic. I was complaining to my HVAC guy and he went up on the roof - fashioned a patch that stopped the problem forever. He suggested that there was only one squirrel that ABC was trapping and releasing near my house so it could be re-trapped. I looked on Angie's List and based on the review (also forgetting that I had hired this company 9 years ago) I called ABC. When ABC got to the house they reminded me that I had hired them before, but they swore that they had changed their ways since 2005. I should have told them to leave at that moment. Same hard sell (they have chemicals that no one else has), high prices, and they did not catch the critter!!! I compared their prices for mouse abatement to other companies and those companies LAUGHED out loud at the price that ABC quoted. I was disgusted that the trap that ABC set for the critter (I thought it was a raccoon) did not catch anything even tough it was in place for almost a week. So I told ABC that I no longer needed their services and I hired another company. Several weeks later a I got a charge on my credit card for $650 from ABC Humane Wildlife Control!!! I had paid Angie's List $44 for a special offer and I had offered to pay the charge for a 2d trap to ABC. I never authorized a $650 charge -- so now I have a new headache. My advice -- avoid an expensive headache, do not use ABC.

They were very knowledgeable and gave great advice on things we could do to prevent future critters from coming in.

ABC Wildlife is GREAT!! From the first contact, everyone was responsive, knowledgeable, super courteous, and helpful. There are lots of skunks in Glenview. We had them under both our front and back stoops. Don't be ashamed -- Just call ABC. ABC humanely trapped and removed our guests, installed barrier traps to be certain that all had departed, then removed the barrier traps and finished the permanent close-up of the dens. Great service, great workmanship, problem solved!

The service was not great. They set it up, and everything looked good, and given the time we thought they would catch the skunk for sure. The cage tipped over, and we called them, they should have just said, we should set it up ourselves, otherwise they will charge us for coming over. 75 Dollars later, we had to pay to have a reset up done. The next time, we didn't look what was caught, we just thought it was a skunk, it was a cat, and they didn't come till evening. They were going to charge us another 75 Dollars, and we said no, so they didn't charge us, and today as well we had a skunk. They were nice, and courteous, and they came when they said they would come, but the reality is that we didn't accomplish what we wanted to. They seemed knowledgeable, and they seemed to know what they were talking about. We were thinking about calling somebody else, because maybe they had set the wrong bait. I felt traumatized that the poor cat was in there the whole day.
