Dennis Wandell provided a brilliant design for a brick patio and fish pond, and he has also designed a number of other projects/plantings for us, which have included custom welded trellises and window well covers. We rely on his firm also for regular maintenance and repair when necessary. He and his crew are very punctual and professional, they always clean up, and we enjoy working with this firm.
Description of Work: Consultation on yard maintenance and advice about new plantings/replacement.

+ -1 moreDennis is very punctual, finished when promised, thoroughly cleaned up all of the limbs, etc. and his prices are reasonable. He is a walking encyclopedia for landscape plants and, it is obvious that he really loves plants. He answered all of our questions thoroughly and patiently and made many useful suggestions. He also provided a very detailed watering guide for our new plantings. We enjoyed Dennis very much. We will always call him for our landscape needs.
Description of Work: Dennis Wandel and his crew pruned existing trees and shrubs, planted some new shrubs and mulched the entire area. He also made many suggestions about what kind of shrubs were appropriate and where they should be planted.

+ -1 moreI contacted Dennis after hearing of his firm from Angie's List. We played phone tag a little bit but finally contacted each other. Dennis offered to meet with my wife and me after our work hours -- I don't get home until 5:30-6pm -- or on a Saturday which made it very conveient for us. He came that Saturday and we showed him where we wanted the work done. He offered suggestions, which we agreed to. A week or two later he sent us the good faith estimate, which we returned immediately with the 50% down payment. The work was done 8/5/11 and my wife and I are very pleased with the results. There is some other work we're looking at doing in the fall and Dennis will definitely be our #1 contractor to complete this. Kudos to Dennis and his staff on providing us a pleasant experience in getting our landscaping work done.
Description of Work: Applause Landscaping did landscaping work to the areas between our front walk and garage and the front of our house. Dennis included a detailed good faith estimate and illustration of the work. The work included placing soil against the house to provide a drainage slope to offset future settling near the foundation, spraying weeds before covering with river stone, placing a premium weed barrier and river stone on the areas, and planting (2) hicks yews, (1) butterfly bush, and (2) boxwoods. All work met our expections and more with my wife commenting that she loves it.

+ -1 moreDennis Wandell of Applause Landscape came to my home immediately after my call and within 3 days had worked up four very lovely plans to remove my overgrown spirea and replace them with two large tardiva hydrangea shrubs at either end of the porch, 2 Autumn Brilliance Serviceberries, each one at the corner columns, and 4 Winterthru viburnums, 2 each in front of the porch on each side, next to the serviceberry trees. He is thoroughly professional, and drew up a clear and comprehensive contract. I signed it immediately. The rainy weather delayed his arrival by a few weeks but when he and his crew arrived, it was amazing to see. The guarantee lasts one year. Hire yourself a pro!
Description of Work: Dennis Wandell has worked for me since 1998. He planted 6 arborvitae green giants in my back yard which turned out beautifully as a glorious privacy hedge, helping me to avoid the view of three of my neighbors in their homes and from their night lights. In front of my house in 2001, he planted two trees, both 7 years old: a sugar maple and a white swamp oak. They are beautiful and grew into lovely trees in just a few years. Now he has landscaped the front porch of my "arts and crafts" 1928 home, and I am extremely happy with the results. There are 4 varieties of plants surrounding the open front porch which are all healthy although struggling a little in the heat of this year (2010). I recommend Applause Landscape to anyone who wants a contractor with great experience, impressive knowledge, and someone who can create a vision for your home and property.
