We have used Alvin twice in the past and the work he/his subcontractors did was great. (and I posted a favorable review at the time). However, Alvin has always been less than professional in his conversations with us (similar to what a previous post mentioned) and this time around was very slow to respond. I had to call to receive our quote a week after he came to look at the job, and then wait another week just to get a phone call returned (with the excuse of "I've been busy") to ask a question about the quote. When he did call back, he was rude and literally laughed at me for a statement that I made about our projects. Also, his quote this time around was more than double what the other contractors quoted us. We will not be using him again.

I referred this to Angie's list of breach of contract with them and got my refund back through Angie's list (fortunately).

When Alvin first arrived to do the estimate he sat in the master bathroom on the tub on his phone texting and talking to me alot. Spent way too much time on the phone and chatting with me about schools and his kids etc. Telling me he knew what I needed to have done and he will deliver excellent service. When Alvin arrived to do the work almost 2 weeks later, he started in the master bathroom, and went back and forth between the two bathrooms. In doing this he talked alot about his kids and brought up questions about ours. More time was spent on talking then concentrating on the work that needed to be done. Alvin did not cover the hallway properly between the two bathrooms and left stains, which we had to have cleaned. The small hallway bathroom was done to our liking, just like we discussed. The master bathroom however, did not go as well. Alvin told us his quote did not inclue cleaning the tiles around the sauna like tub only the small standing shower (we live in a townhome). I let him know this is not what we discussed. He told me it would cost extra to have this done. So we did not have it done. While Alvin was working in the shower he stopped to call us in there to show us that the tile he was taking apart broke and that it would cost us $50 to fix it! I don't know why he was taking apart the ledge in the shower (where shampoo bottles sit)? He said it was better to clean the grout. Nothing in the shower was cracked when he arrived, now we had broken tile! And have to pay to get it fixed!? Alvin put the ledge of tiles back with a different type of grout and grouted the broken tile back together unsatisfactorily. The tiles on the floor were sloppy looking with grout color out of the grout lines. We didn't notice this right away until he left. When we noticed it the next day we called him back to fix things. He came back , fixed the floor satisfactorily, but the ledge of tiles were taken apart again, put back with different grout and put back uneven. Pushing water off the edge of these tiles could cause a cut. Alvin said this was the best he could do and left. After he left we noticed he left his vaccuum cleaner in our master Bedroom. Alvin called us the next early morning to let us know to put it outside the front door so he could pick it up on the way to his next job. We wrote Alvin and asked for a $200 credit so someone else could fix the mess he left with the edge of tiles in our shower. He agreed and gave us the credit. But today we cannot find tile (which is 23 years old) to match what we have. to fix this problem. And nobody is going to re-tile our shower for $200! Its been 7 months now and the grout on the Master Bathroom floor is coming up! This is clearly not professional work that was done by Alvin! Nor does his reviews reflect what happens on his jobs! Wonder who put these reviews out there? I cannot seem to get my photos to download onto here, I can provide pictures to those who would like it and I did send photos to Alvin.

We couldn't be more pleased with Alvin's service or professionalism. He came over to provide an estimate and walked us through his plan. We had the estimate the next day (on a Sunday). I called to schedule the work and he was able to get us in the next week.

Alvin returned our phone calls promptly. He arrived at the appointed time to do the agreed upon work in the master shower. The shower needed some areas repaired where caulk was missing. He cleaned all the tile surface and removed and replaced the caulk. He then applied silicone sealer to the grout and polished the tiles. Alvin cleaned the bathroom area when he was finished with the work. The bathroom shower looks very nice. Alvin was very pleasant to work with, did a great job, and we would recommend his services to anyone looking to have their shower redone.

Alvin Stevenson, the owner operator of our local The Grout Medic delivered exceptional service. He delivered a high level of customer service from estimate through project completion. Further, he is as neat as a pin, leaving the work area clean. He was a pleasure. I took multiple bids for this project. Alvin's professionalism set him apart from the others. One of bids I received from a competitor offered a inflated price, for example. On the strength of Alvin's service delivery, I will use other services he offers.

I am so happy I went with The Grout Medic. My bathtub and shower needed new caulk so I hired Alvin. Alvin came out to do the estimate and he was the same one who came back to perform services. He was very punctual, nice and professional. He even went above and beyond to help fill in an area in my tile that needed grout. His price stayed true to estimate. Again, very happy I hired Alvin with The Grout Medic and would hire again in the future.

Both baths became "company ready" or "like new" again! Alvin was prompt, professional, cheerful, and did a great job of explaining the work he would do and gave a fair estimate. The grout work is excellent. He also went over helpful maintenance tips, to help the look of the new grout last a long time. I highly recommend calling Alvin/The Grout Medic!

Everything was great! We love our new backsplash and Alvin did a great job installing it! He finished it in less time than we thought and it looks absolutely perfect, and the price was great! We will definitly use him again in the future for any tiling needs!

Alvin was great! He came out and gave us an estimate promptly. We were trying to coordinate the master shower cleaning with the installation of new shower doors and he was very flexible in scheduling. We had some tile issues once we took the old doors off and he was able to fix the problem the same day. The shower looks great. He is very professional and knowledgable and I would definitely use him again.

Alvin came out and gave an estimate. After accepting it, we scheduled the work. He was very easy to contacted and responded promptly to phone messages. The day of the work he arrived on time. He worked for three hours on cleaning, regrouting and sealing our 30 year old ceramic tile floor. When he finished, it shined like it was brand new! He did a great job for a great price and I would use him again!

It looks like i have a new shower after Alivin came and did the work! very professional , and got the job done in 4 hours. Great work and highly recommend this company!

Our grout was mismatched from our builder replacing several times. Alvin color sealed our grout in our master bathroom to match perfectly. He recommended a color that would take away from any imperfections that we had. He also re-caulked our bathtub and shower with a caulk to match the new stained grout. He also applied enduro shield to our shower glass doors and sealed our grout in our hall bath as well. He did a great job. I would recommend him to anyone.

From start to finish, The Grout Medic met our expectations. The Grout Medic had a lot of experience and gave us useful advice on how to keep the grout looking good for a long time. Alvin, the owner, was punctual at the estimate appointment and at the day of the job. I thought the price was quite reasonable. I paid a lot more last year to a different provider who did a so-so job. Alvin did the work himself and made sure we were satisfied with the finished project, which we were. It's only been a little over a month but we are quite happy with the way the grout turned out.

Alvin did a beautiful job! We have a HUGE tile kitchen/dining room tile floor, a small bathroom tile floor and a laundry area tile floor! He came in gave us a great price to completely clean and color seal all of the grout! He custom blended a beautiful color for each room! We couldn't be happier! Alvin is courteous, cheerful, professional and was a pleasure to do business with! All done in one short afternoon! You will not believe the difference he can make to your sad, tired, stained grout!
