Peerless Fence

I would highly recommend Peerless fence. They did a good job and the quote was exactly what they were going to do. Happy with job done by crew.

Sent a message to get an estimate for fencing on June 9. They replied on June 10 stating that Tru-Link is the company that is in my area and that someone would contact me. On June 15 a message was sent stating someone would contact me in 1 business day. I previously had also left a phone message. It is now June 18 and I have not heard from anyone. A company proves its worth to me by getting back to me in a reasonable time. It has been over a week.

We are looking to replace the fence in our backyard and I have been contacting companies in our area to set up appointments for estimates. Based on the reviews here for Peerless, I reached out to them last Friday. I spoke with someone named Ashley who advised that she would have the sales person for our area, Mike Newman, call me back within 1-2 business days to set up an appointment. I also provided 3 different phone numbers; work, cell, and home that he could try and contact me at. Not having heard anything by yesterday (Wed.), I called back and again spoke with Ashley. I explained the situation she advised she would take the message to him again and that he would call back by end of business same day. I advised that I would be in the office until 5pm and if that was not convenient, then he could contact me at home between 6 and 8pm last night. I was never contacted. At this point even if I ever do receive a call, I would not hire this company just based on my experience with trying to get a call back. I realize this is the busiest time of year for these types of companies; however with all of the competition out there, they need to be more responsive to requests or hire more people to handle the volume.

We are still obtaining estimates but are considering use of this provider.

Called Peerless for some fence repairs. We need 4 fence posts (4x4's) pulled out and replaced with new ones since our fence was leaning really bad and 1 post was completely rotted out. Local rep came out and gave us an estimate in writing and it was very detailed about what they would do. I was pleased since the other 2 companies only gave a price and not put in writing about exactly what they would do. So kudos to Peerless! The only downer was that the local rep quoted 2 to 3 weeks for completion and i had to call them after 4 weeks asking why i have not got a phone call yet. The scheduler said that i was his next phone call. Not sure if that was true but he scheduled me for a couple days later. 2 guys came out and they were super friendly and did awesome work. Our fence is standing up straight and feels really solid with the new concrete. Overall, i'd say they get an A- only due to the scheduling delay with no phone call. The rest of it was top notch!

Great from beginning to end. No issues at all. We would highly recommend Peerless Fence.

I decided not to replace the fence but if I change my mind at a future date, I would call him.

It took them to complete the work because it rained. There were no issues with them apart from the rain.

I had an extremely positive experience from start to finish with Peerless who the sales person was Tom Muckian. The request for a quote was done via the internet and Tom responded within 24 hours of the request to schedule a time to come out to provide a quote. When Tom came out for the quote, he patiently walked me through various possibilities and helped me understand some potential pitfalls with installing a very large gate for a truck such as for tree trimming and such. We also wanted lattes on the top and he helped me visualize how that would not be visually pleasing with our yard since the fence is being installed on a hill and will not be level. Instead we went with the slatted top which looks very nice and still allows us to be able to look into the yard. We originally wanted a Cedar fence but was convinced to go with what is called Copper Wood which is treated pine. The warranty is 25 years (could be 30), don't remember off hand. When Tom was finished measuring the yard, he took a long time to prepare the quote, which made me nervous that we was preparing for a hard sell. To my surprise, the time was spent making a nice drawing of the property and fence and listing out all of the details and various options with wood and size of gates. It was not a hard sell at all. He explained what we were looking at and left the decision up to me without any pressure to go with anything in particular nor to purchase from Peerless. That made me very comfortable. The price for the Copper Wood was slightly more than Cedar, but not enough to make that a deciding factor. After getting a quote from another company and talking with a third, I decided to go with Peerless mainly due to variety of fencing options and the pleasant interaction with Tom. After the sale, Tom helped me created the drawings I needed for the building permit and made all the copies I needed to submit. That was a great touch. After I got the building permit, the installers came within a week to get the fence installed. It only took one day and the fence is wonderful. Exactly what we wanted. Very sturdy. Very well put together. And the gates operate wonderfully. The Copper Wood is green right now, but I'm told that it will eventually turn a copper color and stay like that for a while before it turns grey. The installers took their time with me to make sure everything was laid out just right and that the gates are placed in just the right locations. The location of the gate for the truck was important such that there are trees to navigate as well. The installers also provided a recommendation for the gates such that they would be more sturdy and avoid sagging in the long term. Since I didn't know anything about fences, I felt they were taking care of me to make sure we got something that would like the most and enjoy the longest. I recommend Peerless and plan to go back if we have any other fencing needs.

The estimator with Peerless, Phil, was very courteous and professional. We had to remove an old wooden fence on a large lot and replace it with an upscale vinyl fence with a wood grain finish. We had bids from two other companies on vinyl fencing. However, only Peerless could offer a vinyl fence with a mid-tone wooden oak finish. Phil was able to work with us to offer competitive pricing to our other bids. He also provided a lot of assistance in helping us get our work permit, since we needed a special exemption for the fence design. The Peerless crew that came out was supervised by Raul, who was also very courteous and professional. He was very eloquent and kept us apprised every step of the way. He was very knowledgeable about fence installations and consulted with us whenever there was an important decision to be made. Raul and his crew worked very hard, especially when breaking up old concrete footings for the posts, and putting in new ones. It was a big job, but they put in three long days to finish it. The crew also had a great eye for installing the fencing straight and level. The only problem was when the crew ran short of materials. It might have been because they had to cut some of the fence rails short to get around obstructions, and they needed to order rails for three more fence panels. It would have been hard to predict the problem. They were back in just over a week to finish the job at no extra charge. On the whole, I would recommend Peerless for the great job they did.

The sales representative/ estimator, Phil was knowledgeable and very accommodating. The installation crew arrived when scheduled and completed the fence in one day. They did a fantastic job and the fence looks great. I could not be more satisfied.

John Kaiser is our salesman and to this day we still contact him with any questions, and he takes great care of his customers. Installation was great and the job went smoothly. There was one small problem in that the installers nicked our Com-Ed cable at the house, however Peerless took care of the cost to repair with Com-Ed as well as came out and poured concrete where it was broken up to access the cable. I recommend this company for their great service and integrity, especially with the small issue. The fence is fantastic and we have never regretted having it put in by Peerless.

We visited the company showroom in West Chicago to look at all the options and place our order. The salesman was pleasant and took the time to answer our questions and write-up the order while we were there. The fact that they had the showroom was one of the main reasons we used them because we didn't want to just order from a catalog. The order was placed on 4/22/14 and the job was completed on 7/8/14. They needed 50 percent down with the balance due upon completion. The positive aspects of the experience are that we really like both the steel and cedar fences. We opted for triad finials and circles on the steel fence which really add a nice touch. The workmen were courteous and respectful. The took great care to ensure the fences were level. The negative aspects are that the job was completed piecemeal on four separate days over about a 45-day period. So it caused some difficulty in keeping the back yard secure for our dog. We understand this was mainly due to the extra time needed to build the steel gates. One of the site visits was dedicated to putting the heavier driveway gate posts into the ground and welding the gate hinges. To an extent, staff notified us on the status and informed us when the workers would be coming out. Responsiveness to our calls could have been better though as there were periods when we were unsure what was going on. I wrongly assumed that the double driveway gates would be centered. I believe they were offset as our driveway was very close to the lot line and there might have been extra clearance needed due to our interest in a future automatic opening system. By the time I realized this design, one of the key corner posts had been cemented in the ground. It would have been nice if this had been explained to us beforehand so we could have made a better informed decision.

This is a great fence company. John Kaiser is a very smart and knowledgeable salesperson/project manager. As we walked the perimeter of the fence, John listened to our needs, made very good suggestions, and gave us a great price. He pointed out that since the gate area needed to be replaced, then we might want to consider moving the gate over to allow more room for the lawnmower to clear the landscape edging, which we did and now there is no interference at all. He also noticed that we have a 42-inch high fence and not a standard 48-inch high fence, as another fence company wrongly listed in their quote. Felix and Marcelo are hard workers and did a great job of installing the fence. I would definitely use this company again. I highly recommend them.

The lock they installed requires the fence to be perfectly aligned and it's fastened with a bolt that requires a particular socket set to remove (we did request a locking device so we can padlock the insides of our fence gates). They came out once to adjust the gates in the last four years for no charge, but they were, initially, not too responsive to follow up work four years later, even though I offered to pay them. They way it is with wood, there's always going to be some settling. However, after posting my unhappiness with that here, they came out in two days to take a look, and said that the owner of Peerless is not only adjusting our gates, but also fixing some issues with the four year old fence splintering, and mending a plank a neighbor took out with a soccer ball. Thank you Angie's List and Peerless Fence for making me happy and making me a satisfied customer again.

All the wooden fence pieces were removed. After the new fence was in place the yard was cleaned up and the new fence looks great! The crew did a good job in not disturbing our neighbors vegetable garden on the other side of the fence and was careful with perennials on our side. The caps on the fence posts were not secured but after a call the crew came back the next day to glue them on.

Craig Davis did an excellent job of explaining what to look for in a fence quote - how posts are set, quality of material and length/breadth of warranty. Peerless offered a better warranty than others and set their posts in concrete rather than dry setting like some of their competitors. Craig gave us a quote that was slightly higher than two others but we felt it was worth it. When we asked to apply the Angieslist 5% off coupon he said he already gave us a discount of 10%, even though it wasn't noted on the quote. We called the office and we're told that the coupon would be applied to our final invoice. When the invoice came the 5% off still wasn't honored but we called the office and they made it right.

I will complete this portion when my project with Peerless is complete.

They were great to work with. They were fast and efficient. They were very responsive when I called and they were able to get out to my house quickly. They called me even a couple days early to get started on the job. They were the easiest company to work with and they were professional. There was nothing these guys did that were negative. Out of all the companies I have used they are the ones that stick out to me the most.

Peerless installed 60 feet of aluminum fencing in our back yard about two years ago, and we were so happy with them that we didn't get other quotes for this recent job. Craig came out to give us a quote, gave us options for fence types, and scheduled the fence installation within several weeks. We have very difficult neighbors and were concerned that they would complain about the fence. But Craig took care of getting the permit for us and assured us that he would not have an issue getting the permit approved and the fence installed. On the day the Peerless crew arrived, they had been made aware of potential issues from the neighbors. When the neighbor complained about plants she would lose (she had planted them on our property), the fence crew even dug them up before they started work so that she could transplant them elsewhere. Since they had to stand on the neighbors' property to put up the fence, they were very careful not to harm the neighbors' plants.The gates look great, and so does the fence. We're very happy with the quality and professionalism provided by Peerless, and would highly recommend them.

The entire experience, from the initial quote to the final product and work site clean up was a stellar experience. Everyone working for Peerless was timely and professional. We are incredibly happy with our new fence and plan on working with Peerless again when we're ready to replace other sections of our fence.

For a like estimate, this providers cost was was moderately higher (10%) than 2 others. The same specs were supplied to all companies. There were minor differences in the details of the work to be performed as provided by the companies. I could not discern any perceived quality differences, so I did not select this provider.

Met with Mike, a project manager. He was very polite and professional. He explained the differences in the aluminum fences they offer, provided suggestions and options. We obtained a quote just to get an idea to develop a budget for projects later this year or early next year. If we were in the market to buy today, we would have purchased from Peerless on the spot. I was that satisfied.

It was a short 20 ft fence next to a tree next to the garage. It was kind of expensive but we only had the small part of fence to put up. The fence looks nice and level. They were very fast. In and out in about 2 hours. They put the fence completely together at our site. No prebuilt sections. Only problem is that it still looks green after 5 months, but they said it has to dry out, which it hopefully will do over the summer.
