Peerless Fence

We could not be more pleased with Peerless Fence- from start to finish! Initially, I completed an online request for an estimate, and I received a very prompt and professional response. The gentleman who came to review our property and provide an estimate was absolutely excellent- he was timely, professional, and very patient (as I had a number of questions!). He spent 1.5 hours at our house- even though the work we needed was not extensive! He could not have been more helpful. We then went to their location in West Chicago, to see the fencing in person (before we had it installed). The employees were very kind and also very helpful- another pleasant experience. At that point, we signed the contract. After we obtained a building permit, we called to schedule a date to put in the new fence. The gentleman who managed the work was very pleasant and communicative. (Great communication was definitely one of the best things about the company!) The day of the installation went very smoothly- the work was done carefully, as to not destroy the plants around the outside of the patio. The crew lead was very experienced and very good at his job- and he provided a couple very good suggestions; for example, moving the fence gate a bit further from the surrounding bushes (so now, every time we open the new gate, we no longer hit the shrubbery, as with the previous fence!). He was very knowledgeable and very kind as well. All members of the crew did excellent work, and were very considerate. They worked very efficiently as a team, and the crew lead made sure the job was done right. The result was an improved and beautiful fence at a fair price. We could not be happier with it! Every interaction I had with Peerless Fence was positive. I would recommend this company to anyone needing fencing!

They installed the fence; they were supposed to notify me before they began. I came home had flags in the hard that’s how I knew they had been there, I called them and they said they forgot to call. I told them it was the right gate but the wrong lock and put in the wrong location and wrong swing. We even had a diagram that marked out were everything was had they called me like they was supposed I could of made sure it was put in the right location. The lock on the fence was put up five feet high, I’m only five feet tall and told them I need the lock to be in a more practical location for my convenience. I have been using a twist tie to keep the gate closed to keep my dogs in the yard. Called project manager said he would re-order new parts, even took pictures. They were off the measurement on both the west and east side by six inches we had showed them where to put it and they put the fence in wrong still, probably because they finished up in the dark. Said they would order new parts and fix the problem back in January and to this day I am still waiting. Talked to owner said he didn’t have a number to call, though my number is on the contract. Every time I contacted them they say the parts are ordered. I ordered new gates and they tried to just patch up some parts of the fence and we paid for a new fence. Do to some miscommunication or difference in opinion some guy in the warehouse won’t order the new parts because he feels the patch work is good enough even though I paid for a new gate. As of today I tried to call the guy in the warehouse and he won’t take my call the secretary told me there is nothing on file that show the parts have been ordered, no dates listed.

Estimate and plan worked out with Phil was thorough and well-thought-out. Credit card and financing options were available. Instructions for obtaining permit (homeowner's responsibility here) were clear and straightforward. Installation was schedule very quickly-within a week, once permit was in-hand. Installers required supply for power and water, which was a bit of a runaround, but otherwise were well-prepared for the job, including an initial walk-around confirming all the details of the project. Temperatures were in the 20s both days they were working, but didn't slow things down at all--very professional, positive, and hardy installers!

Peerless provided a quote but we did not hire them. The quote was the highest of 4-5 different fence companies.

Everything went very well, on schedule and no cost adders, exactly as quoted.

I had asked for some specific instructions regarding the finishing of concrete. They did not follow the request and I received a credit for the work not done. However, I also received ugly patches of concrete. These guys were way cheaper than the other people I had bid the job. Buyer's remorse.

Overall I am very satisfied with the professionalism of the company.The price was very competetive.I will definitely contact them for building the fence in future.

Peerless was in the running for being hired to install my fence. Their price was right and the guy that came out was nice. I ultimately chose a different company but would call Peerless again for an estimate the next time I need some fence work done.

I emailed Peerless on 8-3-12 for a free estimate on the fence. On 8-7-12 John Kaiser called me to arrange a meeting for 8-9-12. He arrived on time, walked through the yard to measure, came inside the house and showed me the brochures and gave me references and the quote. His price was higher than the other two fence companies. I was happy with John's because he took time to explain the product, warranty, and he followed up on his quote, as if he really wanted the business. After making sure I was comparing apples to apples, I told John he was approximately $600 high. We made an appointment for 8-30-12 (Labor day weekend) and he adjusted the price and I signed the contract. On 9-4-12 I put through a change order because my husband and I decided to change some of the fence details, etc. From that point on the material should have come in between 2-3 weeks. In the meantime I acquired the building permit from Elk Grove and called the permit number in to Don at scheduling. On 9-20-12 (2 1/2 wks after the order was placed), I sent John an email asking for a delivery update. He replied that I should call Don in operations to get that information. At that point I was very annoyed! Here was a salesman who was making me, the customer, do the legwork on this order. On 9-21-12 I called Don and he said the fence should come in to their facility today. He said they'd call JULIE and they'd be out on 9-27-12 to take down the fence, etc. As it turns out the fence wasn't really in. Eventually the fence came in. The job should have taken 2-3 days to be completed. The first day of work was Tuesday, 10-2-12. The fence was removed and the crew tried unsuccessfully to find the property pins so they'd know where the fence should be put in. At that point I needed to get a land surveyor in to mark my property since my plat of survey wasn't helpful. By Friday, 10-5-12 my property was marked and I called Don to tell him they could work again. I was told that they wouldn't be able to come back out until Thursday, 10-11-12. Long story short, they came out a total of 7 days to finish this project between the time period of 10-2 and 10-17-12. At times we had problems because they didn't receive all of the pieces from the manufacturer, then the rain started. The whole time my neighbor and I didn't have a fence (and we both have dogs). I was happy with the work crew. They seemed sincere when they told me about all of the problems they were having and they seemed to work hard. I didn't appreciate the run-around when I expedited my order on 9-20 and I didn't appreciate the delay once my property was properly marked and they couldn't come out for almost another week. One final thing is, I wasn't home when the crew finished their work on the final day. No one ever called me to see if I was satisfied with the fence or to confirm the final amount due. I only knew I was charged once I saw it on my Visa account. As of right now I don't even know if this fence has had a final inspection. *Update* My review was read by Dean, a VP at Peerless fence. He was very disappointed that I had such a poor experience. He wanted to come by for a visit to see the fence and discuss the entire situation. I was open to that. He came by and we talked about where the company fell down. He explained what happened on their end and didn't take it lightly. I appreciated his concern and I felt that he was sincerely trying to learn from their mistakes. He has made amends to us. I have changed their grade and if I had any needs in the future I would reconsider them. The fence has passed final inspection.

Price was reasonable and work was done professionally. A contract misunderstanding was settled quickly and amicably. Would definitely recommend Shogren to my neighbors.

I found the representative in my area and spoke with him about coming back out to fix the fence. he advised he would call me back after a meeting and never did. I was very happy with the fence but disappointed with the follow up work.

I was happy with the fence installation, but I wasn't very happy with the sales person. I thought he was unprofessional. He asked to see the bids from the other companies, and then he took the bids with him. I would however, use Peerless Fencing again.

Their price was amazingly competitive and the workmanship was excellent.

They were able to reschedule twice to meet our needs. That was wonderful.The crew came and worked h****** one of the hottest days of the year to date. The quality of work was excellent. I had one issue with the crew not removing spoils, and they just spread it around under the fence. I complained, and they came and picked up the spoils at a later date. No questions asked.

Our salesman Chris Funkhouser was very responsive to our request. Peerless contacted JULIE to mark the utilities in the yard. The men who came to install the fence arrived on time and completed the project as expected. However, the men did hit the street light electric line and could not install four panels, but contacted com ed immediately. Com ed came out and advised us that peerless can finish the job. I contacted Peerless and the men returned two days later to install the remaining four panels.

Overall installation went well. The first day was rained out but they came back the next day to start. They took down the old fence and then started on the new post holes. I asked them to make a change in the way one section was done and they did make that change. They then finished putting up the fence. The crew was polite and professional.

It all went very well, and we got exactly what we talked about, including hardware. It was an unusual job, because we have a double driveway, and we wanted the large double gates that open and close like double doors. They had to create very large steel posts to hold the gates, because they are very heavy. They did a wonderful job, and it looks attractive for a home, not industrial looking, at all. We are very pleased with the job.

The rep did not want the job, it seemed, and I said that to him while he was here. He repeated that he thought it would be too much work for my neighbors.

The job was completed in one day. They did a very good job. They cleaned up after they were through. Dirt haul away was included in the price.

They were very professional and courteous. They did a good job with their presentation and explanation of the build.

Very professional crew started about 9AM and worked almost non-stop until 7PM to complete the job in one day. Crew was careful around plantings and did a thorough cleanup.

All went well with Peerless - but we had to cancel the contract. See above.

Peerless was very responsive to send out someone to give us a quote on our fencing needs. The estimator arrived on time and did a great job supplying us with the information we needed to make a good decision. We ordered the fence and the fencing material arrived very quickly. We had no issue arranging for an installation date. The only issue we had was with the installation team - they arrived late but their workmanship was very good. It took a long time to install the fence, so as it was reaching the evening hour and we asked the installation team how much longer. The lead installer told us if we wanted he would call us 1/2 hour before they were done so we could come back and inspect the work before they left. We didn't receive a call and when we arrived home found that they didn't install all the fence that was on the order. I called the company the next day and they were very responsive to either send the installers back out or give us a credit. We took the credit and it turned out well. The fence is really nice and we are very pleased.

The sales staff was extremely knowledgeable and experienced. It helped that he understood all the types of fences on the market. He helped us resolve several issues we were concerned about. Peerless took care of all the planning and filed the paperwork with our city. That was a very nice part of going with Peerless. They meticulously measured and helped us plan for the exact placement of the fence. The installation crew was incredible. They were very detailed and professional. The fence honestly looks amazing. They really cared about the installation and did whatever it took for the fence to look perfect. Thank you so much, Peerless!
