Asher Tile and Design

James and his team did excellent work. Their customer service, quality, pricing and attitude was great! We just built a custom home in St. Charles and have dealt with a lot of sub-contractors, some of which including our builder were horrible to work with. We enjoyed working with Asher Tile because they were honest, ethical, prompt and did beautiful work. James really cares about satisfying clients.

installation was ok but return service for repair of grout was bad

Spoke with James Asher on the phone to request a bid. Discussed our need and location. He said he was on a demo job at the time and would call me back when he had his schedule. The call was not returned so a week later I called again and this time got his answering machine. Reminded him that he had promised to call to schedule a visit and bid a week ago and again left my name and number. Over a week has again passed and still no call.

James Asher was punctual each morning. The master shower remodel/tile, etc. took less time than anticipated, and he was able to fit us in within a few weeks of providing us with an estimate. He used one helper, Josh, who was also clean and professional. James took the time to answer our questions, and we greatly appreciated that he took the time to call us back regarding a shower door question after hours. I absolutely respect having a work-life balance, but it meant a lot that he took just a few minutes to call us back as we needed the shower door for the following morning. He finished the job in ~ 4 days, was understanding of our concerns and plans and checked in with me regarding most things before installing. Overall, we were extremely happy with the quality of the work, the cleanliness of the crew and the professionalism. I highly recommend James Asher.

I spoke with James and set up an appointment for him to measure and give me an estimate on a full bath remodel and to have the vinyl tile replaced on the master bath floor. On the morning of the appointment, another gentleman was at my door stating he was from Asher Tile. I was caught off guard and wished James would have mentioned he was sending someone else to my home! He assistance measured and asked me to wait and he would come back to give me the estimate which I thought was strange, they usually email it. I waited while he was in his car ..... for about 20 minutes! I did need to leave to get to work so this wasn't making me happy. He came back with a verbal estimate and I asked if he could have his boss (James) email me the quote in writing. He said he would speak with him. James called me later that morning and said the guy he sent out wasn't qualified to estimate a full remodel and that he thought I only needed two floors retiled. An honest mistake as that's what the salesman at the store though. I decided to remodel the whole bathroom since I was at the store. James came back out just after Labor Day. I hadn't heard from him and then he texted me asking if I got his quote. I had him email it to my work email address thinking it might not have gone through my personal email. The next day, I texted back that I still didn't get it. He said he would be back in the office around 12:30 - 1:00 and would send it then. Still didn't get it. I texted him again and he said he was almost to the office. It was now around 3PM. I finally got it the next day with no explanation or apology. The price was a little less than the others I received and James seemed knowledgeable and was friendly. I hoped he was just really busy and wanted to work with him. I emailed him back that I was pleased with his quote and had a couple questions which he did answer a few days later by email. He then emailed that he could fit in my remodel on October 11th. I agreed. This was all verbal with no signed contract and no money down which I thought was unusual. I texted him last week that I needed his help buying tile, that I was unable to lift the boxes of marble that I liked. He agreed we would set up a time to shop and that he would check his schedule. This was over a week ago and I haven't heard from him. I do feel like I've been strung along this whole time and that he never really had any intention of taking this project. I understand contractors are busy right now, but treating a client like this and not responding repeatedly for over a week is inexcusable. I doubt that he would have even showed up on the 11th, even if I managed to buy the tile and get it home myself. I just don't understand this behavior.

I contacted James to replace a tile backsplash for a current looking glass backsplash. In speaking to James and explaining my redesign needs, I found out that he could take care of the flooring problem that I was having at the same time. I decided to go with James and I'm very pleased that I did. James was punctual, honest and timely. The project was completed on a timely fashion and looks perfect.
