Response from Allmake Appliance Repair Inc
Hesitancy in answering such a question can be misinterpreted as being “put off.” Quoting prices and answering availability can be sometimes very difficult for our schedulers because there are so many variables. One variable is that we get our parts from a variety of sources depending on proximity of the call. Some parts are either obsolete or are special order and require some time to procure the answer and/or the part. Parts are not returnable in either of these two circumstances. As far as quoting a job is concerned, diagnosing a problem with an appliance is much like a doctor trying to diagnose an ailment over the phone. There are many unseen potential variants involved. For example, is the customer’s self-diagnosis correct? Is it a stacked laundry center in a closet? Is it a refrigerator on a carpet? Is it a dishwasher, the flooring in front of which was installed after the dishwasher, making it extremely difficult to repair should the repair require disinstallation? It is unfortunate that because of the paucity of details regarding this particular incident, it is difficult to properly address our response any further. P.S. To cover the variables mentioned previously in our response, we tend to “over-quote” jobs over the phone. However, we are always ready, willing & able to quote our service call and labor rates without hesitation. Furthermore, our parts prices are not padded but are sold at the factory-authorized retail price, which is the same price you’d pay if you procured the part yourself at a factory-authorized distributor.
