The February 22 ice storm in McHenry brought down a significant amount of branches on my property. After collecting and disposing of the tree debris I noted one large branch was hanging precariously near the house. Having had Felix remove one tree a few years earlier, I called him and he arrived in an hour's time to remove the branch. While here we discussed and agreed upon a price to remove more branches later. On March 09, he and two others arrived to remove the designated branches. They removed most of the branches and departed before 4:00 p.m. The contract stated that they would clean the property of the felled branches. After calling ten times I began collecting and disposing of the smaller branches myself. After seven more calls I collected and disposed of the larger ones which as of today (May 15), six large branches still remain. He comes out of the gate strong, but finishes in the back of the pack.

Felix was working for neighbors and he gave us a quote for felling 3 large cherry trees and 3 tall pines. I asked he leave the trunks and limbs in 8 foot lengths for me to cut for my own firewood. He started 2 days later, completed in 3 days and asked on the phone if I wanted some pine poles he had removed from the neighbors. I said I would take some. My complaints: 1. 'Some' pine poles turned out to be about 300 poles in a grand pile about 30 feet around. 2. He wanted cash. My big mistake! I paid him before I inspected the job (he sent some pictures but not of the pile of pines). 3. For the first month he answered my calls and texts with assurances he would remove or chip the pine poles. After a month he stopped answering and responding. He did not make an effort to remove the excessive number of pine poles. 4. Many smaller complaints like torn up sod and rutted gravel drive, chunks of bark taken off live trees, leaving a huge mess in the backyard. I WOULD NOT HIRE HIM AGAIN AND I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND HIM!!!!!!!!

Cut limbs in front and back did a great job of cutting. Very professional and less expensive than the other company with the bucket that wanted to drive in my backyard. The old fashion tree trimming is cheaper and better.

While working in my neighbor's yard, the trees damaged my gutter, gutter guards and window treatment. I spoke with Felix the day it happened and have not been able to reach him since he said he would take care of it. He is no where to be found. Do not hire!

Excellent! We hated to see our ol Oak go, but carpenters ants killed it. Felix was very professional, he explained the procedure, did exactly what was agreed upon & his team bucked up logs & brush & very thorough in cleanup. He is also a man of his word by coming back to stump the huge stump. It was a big job & we are totally satisfied with our service. Would highly recommend.

Not responsive after first job

I called Felix because I needed two tree stumps removed. I reached him while he was working in a tree so he asked me to send him an email or leave a message at a second phone number. I did both and, after 18 days, have not had a response.

Felix Tree Service was as the lowest price of three estimates received. They showed up on time and finished by the end of day, grinding all the stumps and hauling off the wood. There were some difficult trees leaning over the fence but no issues. They were very professional and did everything they said they would. They even helped me move my heavy swing set to a new location after they moved it for the tree removal.

I recommend this provider. He was the most responsive one when I first went out to look for quotes via Angie's List. Not only did he give the best price as well, but made his team available right away for the job. He demonstrated professionalism throughout the whole process, from inception to completion. The trees/stumps were removed quickly, and the team cleaned up the area after they were done.

We had a pretty bad storm roll through our neighborhood on Labor Day weekend which resulted in large tree limb being compromised. Due to the holiday we waited to call a handful of tree companies on the day after Labor Day. Out of the (4) companies I called only Felix picked up and was very helpful. Felix came out the same day and assessed the damage. We also asked him to walk our property and provide any feedback on additional improvements to our trees. He provided us an itemized quote on the spot and took the time to explain everything to us. He even provided us an additional discount if we did all the work at one time. We decided to take Felix up on the discount and hired him for everything. Felix showed up the next day with a crew of professionals and did all the work that was detailed in the quote. His team even took it upon themselves to cut up some limbs that we had laying by our garbage that we had not talked about. We were very happy with his responsiveness, as well as the work his team did. House trees look great, money well spent!! We would hire Felix again for any future tree work!! A+ Company!!!!!

Felix gave me an estimate and was able to do the work 2 days later, a very cold day I might add. I was not home on that day. The tree was down and the yard was cleaned up when I returned. He had loaded most of the savable wood in his truck and delivered it to my niece in Lake Forest.
