"When when Tyler first came out here and gave me the quote I thought he was a nice guy and that I could trust him. Tyler advised me that he was going to bring the contract back but never did and he's already started the work. I am very disappointed in Tyler because he quoted to flower beds on my sidewalk walking up to my gate that were lined with plastic and the plastic was falling over on the grass that's the first thing that I showed Tyler so he knows these flower beds were in the quote! While doing the flower bed work in the bag Tyler advised me he didn't have enough bricks to do those two flower beds next to the sidewalk walking up to the gate then it would be $20 more for the brick and I agreed go ahead and do it. So if he didn't quote those in the quote then why did he tell me it would be 20 more dollars for the bricks? No I don't like that I contacted Tyler so many times about this and he does nothing but say that they weren't in the quote which they were. I would not have all the rest of my flower beds looking nice with the brick and leave this eyesore by the sidewalk looking trashy, who does that! Also my flower beds were to be weeded and Tyler send somebody out here to weed them they didn't pull the weeds at by the roots instead they used a hoe to cut them down, while cutting all my wildflowers out also. I show Tyler this and Tyler said that he would replace the flowers and never did. I've contacted Tyler so many times via text message to get the Brown dead branches cut out of my shrub tree that's in my back flower bed and it took him 4 weeks to come out here and do it and he also said that he was going to talk to me when he came out about the side flower beds and he never knocked on my door he just came in my backyard and cut the brown stuff out of the shrub tree and left! I am disabled and a senior citizen my disability is walking and truly not dementia so I know what I was told when Tyler first came out here to give me the quote, and so does Tyler he just doesn't want to do it. When contacting him via text message he said just to work with him well I've tried to work with him and it does no good because he continues to say he did not quote those two flower beds and he did otherwise why did he tell me it was going to be 20 more dollars for the bricks for them? I have learned a big lesson over this never do anything unless you have a contract signed with everything detailed and do not pay anyone until the job is complete!!!"

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

Yes, you will want to confirm that the tree removal company you hire is insured before proceeding with the job. Tree removal can be dangerous work, and it's important to verify that the company carries the proper insurance to cover any onsite accidents or damage.

As you browse our pro listings, take note of the “Angi Approved” badge. Angi Approved businesses meet our standards for certification which include:

  • The owner, principal, or relevant manager passed a criminal background check

  • Required to have applicable state and local licenses

  • Maintain an average star rating of 3.0 or better on our network, if they have at least one review

  • Paying to advertise their services

  • Meeting any other eligibility criteria required by Angi

Keep in mind licensing is different from certifications. A license is a legal requirement to operate a business, while certifications are voluntary.

On average, removing a tree costs around $750, but you can expect to pay between $200 to $2,000. Factors that impact the overall cost include the number of trees you’re having removed, their height, the diameter of their trunks, permits needed, and the tree’s accessibility. You’ll pay more if the tree is in a hard-to-reach area or dangerous location, like close to power lines.

The cost varies depending on a number of factors, including the size of the tree, location, accessibility, whether or not the stump is also being removed, and other environmental factors.

Answered by Elan Flores at Flores Artscape in Los Angeles, CA on 01/07/25

Each tree is different, and costs can vary widely based on factors including tree size, hardness of wood, difficulties caused by location of the tree and proximity to nearby structures and objects, inherent risk involved in specific removals (e.g. rotten sections of trunk), requirements of dealing with municipalities and local governments for tree removal permits, and the methods employed by the tree worker to remove your tree.

A single tree could cost as low as $100 to remove or $10,000 dollars or more depending on these factors. It is also important to keep in mind that many companies have a minimum price to come out and do work or even give quotes.

Answered by John Catalo at Catalo Arbor Care Inc in West Palm Beach, FL on 01/14/125

Removal of trees costs about $1,500 to $3,000, on average.

Answered by Jeremiah Erickson at Chameleon Property Services LLC in Albany, NY on 01/13/25

On average, removing a tree costs around $1,000, but you can expect to pay between $750 and $6,000. Factors that impact the overall cost include the number of trees you’re having removed, their height, the diameter of their trunks, permits needed, and the tree’s accessibility. You’ll pay more if the tree is in a hard-to-reach area or dangerous location, like close to power lines.

Answered by Kenny Rosales at Tree Masters of Tennessee in Nashville, TN on 01/13/25

  1. If there are no online reviews, ask them for referrals. If a tree removal company is reputable, you won't be their first client. It's perfectly acceptable to ask for references on your initial call, and if a removal company won't provide referrals, it's time to move on.

  2. Find out what equipment they use. Some types of tree removal equipment are better than others, and a removal company might need special tools to get your particular job done. On your first conversation with a prospective removal company, make sure that you clearly express the nature of the job you want accomplished and receive assurances that the company has the proper equipment.

  3. Consider all of the costs. Always ask for an estimate up-front. Inquire about the job itself and any potential hidden fees that you might not be aware of.

First, get references. Be sure to ask about their history and how long they have been in business.

How many years of total service in the industry.

Answered by Daniel Humphrey at Skyview Tree Solutions in Jasper, IN on 01/30/25

To have a fallen tree removed near your home, you can expect to pay between $100 to $500. Your local tree removal professional will most likely just need to cut and remove the tree from your property, but factors like the size of the tree and its trunk diameter impact this cost. In addition, there will be an extra cost to fill in the hole left by the tree, and while you have your tree removal specialist on-site, it might be worth it to have them inspect the other trees in your yard for potential damage. Trees that have fallen onto your home or another structure, will likely be more costly to remove.

The minimum cost is $500 to $1,000, as disposal of tree debris is between $200 and $300 per load.

Answered by Jeff Searles at Lakeshore Tree Care in Chanhassen, MN on 01/08/25

Costs can range from $500 up to $2,000, on average. It depends on the size of the tree, the location, accessibility, if there are hazardous conditions surrounding the tree and the environment, and if other work is being done on the property along with fallen tree removal.

Answered by Elan Flores at Flores Artscape in Los Angeles, CA on 01/07/25

It really depends on if it's just lying on the ground or if it fell on a structure. The cost could be anywhere from $500 to $10,000. There's a wide price range because some fallen trees are really easy to remove, while others are very difficult and require a crane.

Answered by Kenneth Kirlin at Carolina Tree Trimmers LLC in Summerville, SC on 01/06/25

You can expect to pay about $1,000 to $4,000 to have a fallen tree removed. Trees that have fallen require more labor to remove than one that's standing.

Answered by Jeremiah Erickson at Chameleon Property Services LLC in Albany, NY on 01/13/25

Budget over $1,500 if you need a tree removed from your yard that’s larger than 80 feet. Large tree removal is a significant project that requires a crane, and the overall price will increase if the tree is close to your house. Typically, smaller trees can cost as low as $8 per foot to remove, while larger trees (over 80 feet) can cost at least $15 per foot.
