Saturn Heating Cooling and Electrical Services

Initially contacted Saturn on 12/21/2021 and scheduled a tech visit. On 12/24 or 12/27, a tech stated that we needed a new engine or a new generator but was unable to provide additional information on where to purchase. I researched and determined that a comparable generator would take 4 to 6 months to arrive but found a new engine from an aftermarket supply outlet. I ordered the engine with a 30 day return option costing $750. I advised Saturn and scheduled an appointment for the tech to install on 1/13/2022. This appointment had to be rescheduled for 1/27/2022 to due to Covid affecting Saturn's workforce. That appointment was also missed. On 2/1/2022, two techs arrived and determined that a new engine was not needed but a new starter and gas valve were necessary. Unfortunately the 30 day return policy on the new engine had already expired. I was told an estimate would be completed for me to review. On 2/7/2022 I called the Saturn office and told them I was still waiting for an estimate. A service call was eventually scheduled on 2/22/2022 for 3/2/2022. I never received an estimate for parts and labor. The tech that performed the service that day replaced parts and performed multiple successful tests but left before I could speak with him. One week later the generator failed a test start. I tried contacting the tech to get some troubleshooting suggestions but he didn't return my call. I called the office and was told they would contact the tech. That was the last time I spoke with anyone a Saturn. On 3/14/2022 I contacted another vendor who was able to send a tech on 3/28/2022. He determined that spider webs in the gas valve needed to be cleaned out (an issue that was supposedly addressed by Saturn) and the automatic voltage regulator wasn't working. I ordered and replaced the AVR and the generator has been running fine since. On 6/27/2022 I was emailed an invoice automatically generated by QuickBooks dated 3/22 and due on 5/11 for $906 ($418 parts/$489 labor). I emailed them back that they never presented an estimate nor finished the job and asked them to contact me to discuss. No contact was made so I sent Saturn a check to pay for parts. Two more invoices were automatically sent for $489. I gave up and paid the invoice this week. Seeing how I unnecessarily purchased a new engine, the long time lag in service visits, didn't get an estimate, had no follow-up when informed the generator wouldn't start after repairs plus no communications concerning billing, I will not be using Saturn again.

DO NOT USE THEM! I believe at one time they were a reputable company, but no more. The sales rep that came to our house was clearly dishonest and unethical, and the President does not care about acquiring customers. My experience started off well with the scheduling office. They responded quickly and told me starting costs for a 7.5kw Generac unit and install would be $5,200, which was in line with our expectations based on family that had purchased a generator from Saturn a few years earlier. However, everything changed when the rep arrived at our house. He told me the $5,200 was the cost of the unit and did not include install. He also insisted a 7.5kw unit was not a possibility for us, and even a 10kw unit would not be able to handle two average fridges, a small gas furnace and 1/4hp sump pump. This made no sense, and he was unwilling/unable to explain how that was possible. I understand they want to try and upsell to a bigger unit, but flat out lying is not an acceptable way to do it. Despite my clearly stating I still wanted an estimate on a 10kw unit, I only received an estimate two days later for a 13kw unit, and it was for almost $10K. That price did not even include basic elements like a pad for the Generac. Some quick research revealed the starting MSRP price of Generac units is $2K, and the basic starting wattage for my critical electrics was under 5kw. It was clear he had been dishonest about the cost of the unit and what size unit was required for my house. Since I had heard good things about Saturn, I was hopeful this was a problem with a single rep, so I reached out to the President. It started well. He acknowledged the pricing errors and said they would get back to me with a revised quote. That was a month ago. There are many Generac approved installers in the Chicago area that will give you an honest quote. Use one of them instead.

The Condominium complex had a major electrical system update for all units about 1 year ago. Recently, in my unit I began having major electrical problems, including a blown microwave oven. The HOA wanted to check if any of the electrical conversion process had anything to do with it. Myself and an electrical vendor checked out my unit and we found the problem. It was not directly related to the electrical upgrade and therefore my problem. Since we found it during the inspection we resolved it right there and I did not contract for any additional service.

I’ve been using Saturn Heating Cooling and Electrical Services (PKA: Dupage Air Repair) for the past 3 years to perform the annual maintenance for my air conditioner and furnace. I’ve always been pleased with the professionalism of the technicians, the quality of the work being completed and the competitive pricing.

Then came out the next day, only problem I had was getting a receipt for the work.

I need to replace my electric panel. Called Saturn Electric based on reviews on Angie list. George stopped by and he explained the process very well and gave a reasonable price. George is a real nice gentle man. This is the kind of person you wanted to invite on dinner. His electrician Scott got here on time. Scott is also a very nice person. It was a big job and took couple of hours to finish. He installed the new panel and looks great. His work was very neat and clean. These people are very organized. Whatever I discussed with George, Scott has all the information. I didn’t have to ask Scott for anything which he was not aware. If you need a good, reputable and honest electrician, you call Saturn Electric without any hesitation.

My furnace blower motor had stopped working. When the repairman arrived, it started working again on its own. He charged me $75 and tried to sell me a new furnace. Days later, the blower failed again. I ended up replacing the motor on my own.

Great company! From estimate to completion this was probably one of the easiest jobs we have had done at our house. George came out for the estimate which was fair as compared to the other 4 we received, and kept us informed of the details through install. His crew arrived on time & did an excellent job getting our new generator installed & cleaned up the area afterwards. Out of all 4 estimates we received- we decided on Saturn because of the reviews that were on every site for this company. I have to say, the other reviewers were correct. This is an A+ company that I would not hesitate to use again.

The technician, Ryan, was really outstanding. He phoned shortly before he was due and showed up just as planned. More importantly it was clear that he services generators exclusively and was very knowledgeable and also very personable. I knew in advance that my model was due for a new battery so we agreed to do that in addition to all of the annual maintenance - he had one on the truck along with another part that needed to be replaced. this company is outstanding for generator maintenance and they have various loyalty programs that can knock 10% or 20% off the bill. Saturn Electric is now my go-to for generator work and I will also check with them first if I have other electrical issues.

I emailed Saturn Electric on a Sunday and they responded the next day. I spoke to George and gave him the laundry list of things I needed done. He gave me a rough estimate over the phone, including hourly rates. I decided to go ahead and schedule the work. He was out approximately almost three weeks so I was looking at late December. A week earlier than I had hoped to see them, Scott was able to do the work. I was pleased that they were able to come out sooner. He was punctual and personable. He was very neat and cleaned up after himself. He was later joined by Noe. All of my tasks took them almost an entire day.

We have had George do work for us before and were very satisfied and happy. He is very knowledgeable and friendly. I always have full confidence that everything is done correctly and wouldn't call anyone else.

The project was great, he was on time, efficient, and the lighting looks great. There are some minor spots where it looks like on the ceiling he tried wiping and it left a stain, not a big deal because it is barely noticeable and can easily be covered with some paint. And in further review it appears one of the covers looks like it was left a little loose but could just be me, I am OCD in some ways! Overall a great job.

I purchased a deal from Angie's List to have an electrical panel installed by Saturn. Not only did George come out and review the house to help us estimate other projects, he sent an itemized list of projects for us to pick and choose. This made our choices so much easier as we are working to upgrade a house. It was so easy to schedule and the work was done incredibly well, as well as respectfully of the space, I was truly impressed. Not only am I glad I called Saturn for this work, I will not hesitate to use them again in the future for any electrical work needed in my home. Thanks George!

My main circuit breaker was failing. I needed to get it fixed or replace the whole panel. I called Saturn, on Monday July 18th, because of their excellent Angie's List rating and location. They sent out Scott the same day and he confirmed that the main circuit was the problem and because of the age of the panel (over 40 years old) the panel should be replaced. Later that day George, the owner, called me back to discuss pricing. He offered me an excellent price and said that they could install the panel the next day. Scott came back Tuesday morning and completed not only the installation of the new panel, he also fixed the grounding issue which was included in the price. I was very pleased with the price, and the work along with the time which started the diagnosis of the problem, pricing and the completion of the installation.

We had a very easy time working with George of Saturn Electrical Services. He provided a proposal promptly, applied for the permit and installed the new panel within days of receiving our deposit. The electrician was polite, careful and cleaned up after his service. My husband and I are planning some extensive renovations at our home. I will not hesitate to include Saturn on my project team.

Ryan was very friendly, explained all the work very thoroughly and he knew the exact issue with the generator. He showed me the worn out Brush which caused error message and replaced it. He came right on time did a thorough clean up. Being a first time maintenance, they gave a 10 % discount and explained how to take care of the Generator and what to look out for. I would recommend them to anyone looking for PM / repair of Generac generators.
