This company did very careful and professional work. As I said, it's a huge job. They draped the rooms with plastic sheeting so that we wouldn't have too much plaster dust everywhere (some always escapes, but it was minor). They patched all the holes that they made. My recollection is that they did the job in 2 - 3 days. (I'm writing this review several years later). One issue we ran into, which was not their problem, but you should consider it, is that when they started spraying in the foam, we discovered that we needed tuckpointing done, as the foam started oozing out like toothpaste in a few spots on the outside.
Description of Work: We had the first floor of our 100 year old house insulated. Saunders (Precise and Snug is what they were called then), team had to drill a hole about the size of a tennis ball into each stud cavity of the outside walls. They they sprayed in a foam insulation that was pumped through hoses from a large truck. We chose this method because the depth of the stud cavities on very old houses like ours will not accommodate panels of insulation, and based on my research, the foam seemed the most likely to fill all the nooks and crannies. This was major work and expensive, but I think it has saved us a lot in heating costs over the years since we did it. If I could afford to do the upstairs, I would. For one room that is added on to the house, they went into the crawl space and sprayed on another kind of insulation. This has been less effective, but it probably helps some.

The consultation went fine. He was very thorough and looked at everything and talked us out of things that we did not need. I thought he was fair and honest. He did provide the consultation for free. He contacted us right away and got together with us in a day or two. The quote was quick and he followed up a month later. I have no complaints. We are not going to be doing anything this year but would consider him in the future.
Description of Work: Saunders Insulation Specialist did come out to give us a quote for insulation. But we did not use them or buy anything.

I had three different people groups in who came in and gave me an estimate and what might be needed and what they discovered is that for some reason when the house was built 16 years ago, they did not really do adequate insulation. I did feel very comfortable with Precise & Snug. They were good about being able to show me pictures. They showed how it looks up on the attic. When you are in the process, the told us that they can do this and that and it would cost so much and the final bill was $20,000. I would not use their service in the future.
Description of Work: I used Precise & Snug service for insulation. I last used their service in March of 2009.

Knowledgeable, polite, professional, easy to work with Shane is polite, efficient, and knowledgeable about the different types of insulation products, and their applications. Steven and Shane, a father and son team, provided an accurate estimate of cost and installation time. They explained the variety of options available for our applications, with pros and cons for each choice (including the cost and installation time.)
Description of Work: We had insulation installed in two properties. In the first house, we had loose cellulose insulation sprayed under the attic floor, and sprayed closed-cell high-density foam insulation on the underside of the roof between the rafters. The same spray foam insulation was used for the rim joists (where the house sits on the foundation.) The second property doesn't have an attic, so the peaked ceiling on the second floor is the underside of the roof. 6" of closed-cell foam was applied between the rafters to the underside of the roof and walls on the 2nd floor, and also for the rim joists in the basement. The price listed is per job.

Everyone should know that a home insulation job is fraught with potential pitfalls, from mess to confusion to finding surprises behind walls. I was on the site during the whole job, and was impressed by the work and the crew. They took care of the house top to bottom, consulting with me all the way and encouraging inspection of the work as we went along. They cover the whole inside of your house with thick plastic, so it is like living in a cocoon during the process...but the good result is that when they peel the covering away, your house looks pretty much as it did before...maybe a minor "ding" here or there, but with all the ladders and equipment, this is not surprising. They arrived on time or early every day. One of the best parts of their process is an on-site older crew head who knows the business inside and out and is YOUR contact....he not only supervises the workers, but you can go to him at any time with questions or for explanations. These are nice people to have on your property in such an intimate way....as a woman alone, I really appreciated that. Also, they communicate at all times thru their cellphones and headphones, so guys in the attics know what is going on with the rest of the house. The workers are of fine character, at least those on our job.
Description of Work: We had a COMPLETE insulation job done on our large 140 year old home, which includes separate attics, a crawlspace and walls. It had never been insulated correctly before, and we wanted the total job. It included a several different types of insulation materials and about 4 days of work. So don't let the amount shock you...our home is large, and all areas were insulated.

I was really pulling for this vendor. Prompt, nice and family owned business. They also had the most information in their quote. The quote included what kind of noise the truck makes. Unfortunately it was the highest quote of all. I emailed Steve Saunders at Precise & Snug to let him know his quote was very high. I thought it could have been a mistake. I got a response that only said that they do it right the first time. There was no other information given.
Description of Work: Received a quote for spray foam insulation to be sprayed in my attic.

Description of Work: We had our crawl space re-insulated after a less than satisfactory job from another company. Professional and courteous, Steve Saunders conducted a thorough inspection before providing an estimate. He then took the time to carefully explain how the product worked and our options in applying the insulation. The company was also helpful in answering follow-up questions after the work.

Steve Saunders and his crew were very professional, punctual, and careful in the work they did. Steve came out promptly to give an estimate. He was very thorough in examining the house and took extensive measurements to determine the amount of material and labor needed. This type of insulation is not inexpensive, but after the research I had done, I was persuaded it was the way to go, and Steve's professionalism helped convince me. When they came to do the work, a large crew put up plastic sheeting and drop cloths to protect the rest of the house. All of the workers were polite and careful. The work involves drilling holes in every stud cavity, so there was a lot of dust. They cleaned up afterwards very well. There were a few stray drips of the foam material that were missed, but overall I was very impressed. Precise and Snug rough patches the holes, but you have to be prepared to replaster and paint separately.
Description of Work: Precise and Snug insulated the first floor exterior walls of our 100 year old house with spray-in foam insulation. They also insulated the crawl space under the floor, and the ceiling of an added on breakfast room.

Steve was on time for estimates and work. His crew was very polite and neat and took the time to answer all of questions and explain to me what was being done and why. Overall a very good experience and I would certainly hire them for work again.
Description of Work: I just moved into the house in early December and was very concerned that my heating bills would be excessive. Steve came out to the house and we walked through the issues that I had previously identified, including open interior walls, airflow from the attic to the basement and a vaulted ceiling that did not provide an air barrier between the attic and the house. Precise and Snug put in place spray foam to provide an air flow barrier in the ceiling, insulated all the interior soffits, installed venting and then added blown in insulation over the top of everything to provide an R40 rating.

Steve was very prompt and helpful from the beginning. His crew was professional and cautious. The price was higher than I had hoped, but after seeing the process and the results, I understand why. The mess left behind from the foam was a bit more than I had expected and we had some problems when the foam came in contact with the electrical.
Description of Work: Applied blown in foam insulation over existing Fiberglas on first floor. Existing Fiberglas was insufficient and resulted in frozen pipes. Also, the first floor was significantly colder than the rest of the house.

VERY RELIABLE, PLEASANT CREW. ALSO GOOD WITH FOLLOW UP, SOME QUESTIONS CAME UP AFTER THE JOB WAS ALREADY COMPLETED AND PAID FOR, THE ROOFERS HAD SOME QUESTIONS. ALSO THEN A VERY PROMPT SERVICE WAS PROVIDED. PRICE WAS HIGHER THAN OTHER COMPANIES, BUT IT WAS OBVIOUS THAT THE COMPANY HAD MORE EXPERIENCE AND USED BETTER MATERIAL. WHEN I SAW WHAT TOOLS AND EFFORT IT TAKES TO DO THE INSULATION, THE PRICE WAS JUSTIFIED.
Description of Work: 2. FLOOR OF BUILDING WITH 3 UNITS. ROOF INSULATED WITH CELLULOSE INSULATION. INSULATION OF OUTSIDE WALLS ONLY WITH FOAM. OLD INSULATION IN EXISTING WALLS WAS FIBERGLAS. THE OLD FIBERGLAS DID NOT DO ANYTHING, AFTER BLOWING IN THE FOAM, PLUS THE CELLULOSE IN THE ROOF THE ROOMS WERE MUCH WARMER IN THE MORNING!
