+ 0 moreHe knows his stuff but is usually to inebriated to perform the work, speak to you in an knowledgeable manner, never gives you invoices at the time of his visit but than bills two to three. You are left scratching your head.
Description of Work: We purchased a pool heater and also to have it installed. My husband was told one price and paid this up front. Steve the owner would just show up w/o notice, could always smell alcohol on his breath. We would get bill’s continually even after our initial cost. When questioned we were told that Steve forgot to charge this and that. When all said and done we paid 4,700.00 on what was quoted at 3,000.00.

+ -1 moreOwner of the business and his worker were drinking beer on the job. Also, when closing the pool they disconnected the heater and cross threaded the lines to the heater while doing so. My wife overheard them say that "they will have problems opening the pool in the spring." The owner or the worker never told us there was any issues with the heater. When the pool was to be re opened the heater could not be reconnected and we have not been open the pool. The owner of the business has refused to take responsibility for the damage and blames the pool contractor that put the heater in originally 20 years ago. I have had to put a claim in against his insurance company. So far they have denied any liability because for a week, the owner of the business failed to call them and when he finally did, the insurance company has to take his side of the story. I either need a new manifold for the pool or a new heater. In any case, I will be filing small claims court papers against the pool contractor this week. Don't hire Absolute Pool and Spas because they are absolutely irresponsible in my opinion.
Description of Work: Contractor was hired for a second year to close the pool.

+ -1 moreNo problems, no complaints, very professional. He talked over my head a little but did explain what he was doing and offered diffrent options to fix the problems. I don't think its a good idea to go cheap on a $8000 hot tub even if it's 7 years old in hind sight so I got the new heater.
Description of Work: Heat wasn't working on my 7 year old hot tub. Phil checked the circuit board and found and showed me where the connection from the heater had "burned up" my circuit board. He went through and tested every wire in the hot tub. He found that only the heater had a bad connection. He suggested to replace the heater because of the age of the hot tub and he had to replace the board thing because it had melted in one section. I agreed he told me it could cost a thousand depending on how much the parts were. I have a Caldera hot tub and he said he didn't work on them much. Maybe that's a good thing because I haven't had any more problems. He called me the very next day with a cost of $850 (or close to that) for parts and labor. I gave a B because I never like to pay that much for anything 7 years old but as he said it's still much less then a brand new one. Phil did not charge me for the first day work to find the problem. I only got charged for the parts and labor to put the stuff in. I know this is a good deal since Sunco and Great Escape both charged me just to show up a "trip" fee. And Sunco didn't even do anything. The work was done in an hour and no problems since.
