Description of Work: SMB Electric came out to our house for some estimates on various things we needed to have fixed and updated. They walked through and not only answered all of my questions very thoroughly, but also pointed out additional areas of potential concern. In some cases when a contractor does this, you might feel like they are just trying to find more ways to get you to spend money with them, but I never felt like this was the case here. We bought our house 2 years ago and now know that the previous owner did a lot of the work himself and have already found some problems, so it was helpful to have this electrician's take on it. He was also honest in pointing out which problems could be serious and which were more "not quite right", but didn't really pose an immediate threat. After the walk-through and discussion, they promised an estimate within a week. It was sent as promised, and was quite detailed and even had a couple options for some of the things we discussed, like potential new lighting options for the kitchen.

Description of Work: We had a light in the dining room pop and cause electric failure in the dining room, part of the kitchen, and the exterior lights. SMB Electric determined the electric cord was too short for the length of the overhead light when the house was built 13 years ago. After years of twisting and turning for cleaning, replacement of light bulbs, etc, the connection wore through and caused a short circuit. They replaced the cord, shortened the fixture, and did it all for only $90.00 in less than one hour.

Description of Work: Diagnosed electrical problem that occurred in our detached garage. Electrician found that a secondary electrical line had gone bad and had created a reduction of electrical power available in the garage. He and his apprentice disconnected and properly capped the secondary line. In addition, they discovered electrical wires exposed to outdoor elements which were formerly enclosed in PVC; the PVC pipe was replaced with conduit piping. Also, three electrical outlets in the house were replaced.

Description of Work: The owner responded promptly. Did a good job getting exterior sconces to work. Replaced a few new wires at sconces. Do not remember exactly how much was paid, but thought the price was slightly expensive. Also provided a quote for recessed lighting for several rooms. I thought recessed lighting quote was reasonable.

Description of Work: I had ceiling fans installed in two bedrooms. I previously had a switch on the wall that controlled one electrical outlet, but no overhead light or ceiling fan. SMB installed the ceiling fans and rewired the switch on the wall to control the ceiling fan/light. The wall outlet was then changed to an always on outlet.

Description of Work: Two ceiling fans with remotes were not working and had to be taken apart to determine the problem.

Description of Work: Shane rewired much of the back of our house.

Description of Work: We had two ceiling fans installed. One room already had a light fixture, but the other didn't. We had speed and light wall controls installed as well.
