There was a slight delay in the project while waiting for my condo association to approve the work and everyone at ARC was very helpful in getting me the additional information I needed. I would definitely recommend ARC Insulation.

 + 0 moreThe team was able to schedule on short notice due to another customer cancelling. They arrived on time and went over the work previously described in their proposal. The team was professional and clean. The work looks great. They answered any and all questions. They also expanded their scope of work slightly to insulate an additional section of the house. Overall very pleased and would recommend. They are not the cheapest, but I believe the quality more than makes up for it and I would recommend them to a friend. I worked with Graham and appreciate his thoroughness and advice.

 + 1 moreThe work was completed to the highest standards. Graham was on site while the work was being completed, and showed pictures (before/after) of the attic insulation. He was also available for weeks later to answer questions to help us further reduce our monthly electric bill. Beyond the quality of actual work completed, the attention to detail and convenient customer service makes me complete my first Angies List review, noting high recommendations without any reservations.
Description of Work: We live in a 2 story colonial and the 2nd floor was excessively warmer over the summer than the 1st floor (beyond usual heat rising) which created unusually high electric bills. Graham completed a thorough whole-house assessment, pointing out other reasons why the 2nd floor was so warm beyond obvious needs of adding attic insulation. He also pointed out errors in pre-existing recessed lights on the 2nd floor, and ways to increase insulation in basement too. We obtained other estimates, and ARC was the most expensive, but also the most comprehensive.

Greatest thing with the utility rebate (which they took care of) and coupon work was bit less than estimate.

Description of Work: I called ARC, scheduled an estimate. They came to my house at the scheduled time and spent over an hour in my house evaluating my insulations needs. I have never heard from them again. No estimate ever sent to me. I sent them an email asking for the estimate -- and still nothing.

 + -1 moreWould recommend this company as long as you are diligent about asking for costs of extra services. Rated them down since my bill was $500 more than expected.
Description of Work: Arc provided a quote based on an independent energy assessment and quick review of the house. Original quote was $3,400, reduced to $3,100. They said it would take one day, so I took a vacation day. They showed up 45 minutes late (it was raining) with three trucks and at least 5 men, who promptly put plastic down, etc. They identified areas that needed additional attention (birds ruined items in attic) and said it would be an additional $100 for labor and actual cost of materials. So I assumed an additional $150 or so.. They identified other things they could do to repair flaws but didn't say there was additional charges, so I assumed there was no additional charge. They didn't finish the first day and had to come back again, so I took another vacation day. Everyone worked very hard and kept me updated. However, I got a shock when I was handed a bill for $3,800 for all the "additional" items. I informed Arc that if I knew there were additional charges, I wouldn't have agreed to all the extra work. To me this difference is substantial and I should have been told all the charges in advance so I could have made an informed decision. So...if you use Arc I highly suggest that any additional scope of work be identified and additional charges be in writing before you authorize the work.

 + -1 moreI called several insulation outfits and three came to provide estimates. We chose ARC and are glad we did. They came when promised, did the job, cleaned up the apartment afterwards and the price was good.
Description of Work: I live on the second floor of a two flat while my older parents live on the first floor. They would normally have their heat turned very high and I lower and yet they paid less for heating bills than I did. I was also very, very warm in the summer. Sure enough after ARC installed insulation, I was cooler during summer and warmer in winter w lower bills!

Description of Work: The company was contracted to install cellulose insulation in the attic of our condominium building. The insulation was performed to the level of R-49. I worked with Joe Brandt whom I found professional and knowledgeable. The appointment was set and workmen arrived a bit late, but situated their large trucks and equipment and began their work. While we had recently acquired an access panel for entry into the area, it was inadequate and the workers solved the dilemma by cutting an additional entry point in an existing skylight area and enclosed/repaired the area before leaving. The workers were pleasant and respectful and put things back in order upon completion

 + -1 moreWe worked with Grace who came out quickly to give us a quote. The price had to be negotiated down, but we ended up with a very good price. They had to call off one day after they started the job, but still finished within our time frame. The blown in insulation keeps the house very quite. They really did a nice job with all the fire caulking they had to do and foaming around the windows. Currently, even though the house is not done, we are able to heat the house with a temporary undersized furnace. They really did a nice job!
Description of Work: ARC did blown in insulation, fire caulked and foamed all interior areas of the house and garage.

 + -1 moreGenerally, I was quite impressed. Joe was quite professional and seemed very knowledgeable. He was familiar with the techniques prescribed by the energy auditor. In the end, however, I did not hire him because he seemed rather casual about the importance of air sealing (sealing gaps before insulating), which had been strongly impressed upon me by the energy inspector. Also, he seemed comfortable with a lesser amount of insulation than the company I eventually hired. His estimate was quite a bit lower than the other, but I figured I would also not be getting the same level of insulation and protection that I would from the other company. Also, ARC does not use a blower-door test (the other company did) so they could not really prove the effectiveness of their job. Nonetheless, I'll call him out for another estimate sometime and depending on the bid, I might hire him.
Description of Work: Joe came out to give me an estimate on the job of air sealing and insulating my attic as well as air sealing some gaps in the basement. I did not end up hiring him for the job.

 + -1 moreI called ARC to bid on my project and I wanted foam insulation which they said they installed. The salesman arrived on time which I was happy about. When the salesman found out I was talking to other companies also for bids, he immediately started badmouthing the others. Some stories seemed to be embellished, to say the least, which really turned me off. Gossip of this sort I hadn't ever heard from a "professional" salesperson before. I patiently waited for him to finish his sales pitch and then led him out the door. I certainly do care about $$ and their price wasn't out of line but I will never hire a company that would employ such an UNPROFESSIONAL salesman. ($4,000)

 + -1 moreScheduling the appointment to get a quote was easy. Bill Fitch arrived promptly and emailed a quote in a reasonable amount of time. He told me when at my home that he was not going to be the least expensive. I know from experience that the least expensive is not always the best deal. He went on to give a bit of a hard sell. He suggested that other companies may not provide health insurance for there employees as ARC does and he also suggested that other companies might use workers that do not speak English. I was not happy about the hard sell and when ARC was not the lowest bid it was easy to cross them off the list. The least expensive bid came from a company that is very highly rated on Angie's list I went with the best price. Why should I pay more if I don't have to?
Description of Work: I received an estimate to have spray foam insulation sprayed in my attic and the current insulation removed.
