Aspen was subcontracted out by my kitchen contractor. I guess overall they did a good job of installing but their personalities and customer service leave something to be desired. They were basically non communicative while working at the house. We had never done this before so a little education about the process and what we can expect to happen next would have been very helpful. They gave us very little time to choose the color for the stain. They put down a couple of colors the evening before they left and said they'd be back tomorrow to stain it... meaning we should make the decision that quickly. When i questioned them about the colors (because neither were appealing to us), they told us that the two colors were the only options in our color scheme. That even contradicted what the kitchen contractor had told us, as were under the impression that we could make it as dark or as light as we wanted. We did some research online and found the product they were using and learned that a clear dilutant could be mixed with it to customize the color. We had to tell the kitchen contractor that we would not be ready to make a decision by tomorrow and that we needed to see some other options. We felt a little rushed but were able to make a decision in a days' time. When the guys returned they acted like it was a big inconvenience and that yes, we could mix colors but they would not recommend it as it's too hard to match in the future. We got the color we liked but if we are paying someone for their services, then they should be customer focused and we should not have to fight them for what we want. The contractor that we used was excellent in so many ways, so am surprised they would use a company such as Aspen. I have recommended other people to my kitchen contractor but warned them about using Aspen for the flooring.

Everything went great. The new floor interleaves with the old floor so you can't tell where the old floor ends and the new floor begins. Matthew at Aspen was great to work with. He was always on time and quick with guidance and suggestions when asked. He was very patient with us in choosing color which was the hardest part of the process. He even arranged for me to visit a former customer that used the same color and finish so we could see a completed job. Matthew was very professional. Some of his workers were a bit less so but were still good to work with.
Description of Work: Installed, stained and finished approximately 1000 sq ft of hardwood flooring. Sanded and refinished approximately 800 square feet of existing hardwood flooring to match.
