Prepaid for 5 treatments. First 2 treatments went okay. Then I got a bill (email AND USPS) for those treatments! Called and emailed that I would not pay this bill since I had prepaid. I was told the owner would call me back. After waiting almost a week, I spoke to a friend who had Tyler's do extensive landscaping. After she spoke to the owner, he called me back immediately. Was told he couldn't find me in their records Gave them a copy of my bank statement (end of June). Third treatment didn't happen til late August. It's now 10/19 and I have yet to receive a fourth treatment. This time it took 9 days for the owner to respond to my call and email. He offered to do the last 2 treatments in the next month or do the winterizing treatment and refund the fourth treatment. It's a bit too late in the season in northern Illinois to apply a growth fertilizer. This experience has been nothing short of totally frustrating, and my lawn looks worse than the yards across the street that have had no fertilizer applied.

When I called the guy acted uninterested in my business. It wasn't a huge job so he didn't want to come out and look. Then I left several messages and emails to no response. Very unprofessional. I called fishes Lawncare and they were out the next day. Don't hire these people.

Work was done in the fall and I questioned workers about where all the plants shown on the plan were. They said they were cut way back and would show in the spring. This spring when all the plants grew I was missing 4 good size plants. Also 3 bushes were dead from the start. Six other bushes were not planted deep enough and need to be replanted. I called the salesman and he came out and took pictures and agreed that we were due 7 new plants and also some replanting and more mulch. That was 6 weeks ago and since then we have called about 4 times and visited the business twice. Tyler, the owner, doesn't seem to care that he is not standing by his 1 year guarantee and had the nerve to say they would fix it for $250 more. I would never use or recommend Tyler's Landscaping again.

Tyler's was one of a handful of firms that I contacted to provide a quote for regrading next to our house. We found that we had trouble getting other landscaping firms to respond, but Tyler's responded promptly. I was able to talk to the person responsible for the work via phone, while he was on site collecting info for their quotation -- so I did not have to take time away from my work. He was very knowledgeable and immediately understood what was required to correct our drainage problem. He and his crew arrived on the first day that was dry enough to do the work. I decided to leave work to meet up with the crew just to confirm we were all on the same page - and the crew confirmed they would be doing the work as had been discussed. Tyler's crew used specialized equipment including a laser mounted on a tripod and various dirt leveling and scraping machinery. Two window wells had become detached from the concrete, so they installed and reattached new window wells at the beginning of their grading work. I was surprised by the degree of technicality and their attention to detail that they put into this project. The regrading was done in such a way that it is very subtle and complements the line of the house. One of the processes included relocating dirt to the opposite side of the home to even out next to the house. We did find that the relocation caused a small issue with drainage on that corner of the house. However, after one phone call, where I was again able to talk directly with the person that did the work, I was assured the crew would return when they were again in the area to correct the issue. I was pleasantly surprised a couple of weeks later to arrive home and see that last issue had been resolved exactly as we had discussed. Lastly, in regards to cost, their quote was actually quite similar to the other quotes we received. The thing that set Tyler?s apart was their immediate and clear understanding of our issue and the best way to rectify it. The project was completed on time and could not have been done any better. I wish I had hired them when we first moved into the home years ago and discovered there was a basement water problem. I?m extremely happy with the results and have not had any water in the basement this entire summer.
Description of Work: We hired Tyler’s Landscaping to correct a long time drainage problem that regularly led to water in our basement. We also requested that they replace two window wells that had become partially detached from the house. I can happily say that their careful regrading and window well replacements have done the job. Our basement has been dry after some extremely intense rain storms. We are so pleased!

I called them on December 8th and they got back to me several days later. They sent a couple of people out to start on the job and then we got snowstorms and they plow for people so I wouldn't see them for 4 days at a time. They didn't even get it halfway done until the week before Christmas and then I kept blowing fuses. I called and they said to try to run it from an outlet in the back. I didn't end up with decorations for Christmas. They never got it done. They tried and came out kind of when they wanted to with several different people so they never really got it all together. It worked for two days, the 27th and 28th. I paid them because I didn't want them to screw up my credit. I am taking somewhat of the responsibility because maybe I needed another outlet in the front of my house. This was the first year they worked for me and there wasn't a lot of communication. I sent them an email asking them to readjust the invoice. He said he would do that and he hasn't. They also still need to take the stuff down. A lot of it is their stuff. I called to see when they would be doing that and assumed that it would be free because of all the problems and he said that they would need $175 to take it down even after everything that happened. He was a nice guy and they tried but you can't charge somebody for something that you didn't do. I was shocked that he wasn't going to take it down until I paid and then wanted $175 to do the work. I thought that was really gutsy considering all that had happened. I made a lot of phone calls and it added to my stress over the holidays. I thought the price was fair if he would have gotten everything up and working but I paid for something that I didn't get. They didn't seem like they knew what they were doing. It did finally work but they needed to spend a lot more time on it. They were pretty professional when they were here.

It was more than three weeks between the time I signed the contract and the time the work was started. I had to make several phone calls asking for a commitment, and finally had to ask for my money back before they agreed to come out. They sent two(2) men and a roto-tiller, and they were only there for three (3) hours. The seeding looked sparse, as if they didn't use enough. When the grass started to sprout, I was sure they hadn't used enough seed, and when I got the final bill, voiced my concerns. I called and was told by a woman that answered the phone that Tyler would go out, look it over and call me back. A week went by without a phone call, so I called again and was told the same thing. Another week passed and still no return call and no sign that anyone had come by to check it out. I decided that to have it done right, I'd have to do it myself. This is harder than starting from scratch, since you have to turn the dirt in the bare and thin spots while trying not to uproot nay of the grass that is growing.
Description of Work: I contracted to have my backyard, which was bare dirt, seeded. The agreed price was $550, $275 up front and the rest on completion.

I won a yard makeover from a local arboretum worth two thousand dollars. Andrea the designer could not have been nicer and more responsive. I decided to add a brick patio to be paid for by me and done by Tyler's. After the design was completed in September they waited until after it had snowed to plant even though I called them several times. By the time they finally planted the shrubs and plants there had already been a hard freeze. Over half of the plantings were dead in the spring. I have contacted them on several occasions and even have sent them letters. I got one response that said they were looking into it and would contact me but they never did. That was over a year ago.
