THREE HAMMER CONSTRUCTION

We are the 2nd owner of a house three hammer built in 2007. I know they hire subcontractors, but they evidently do no oversight. No tar on the basement exterior. No house wrap between the plywood and siding (we found it between the framing and plywood). We found r11 insulation on an exterior wall with no vapor barrier, so warm humid air caused frost to build under the insulation, which caused mold and water damage (see pictures). Our fireplace drafts so bad we get ice build up inside the house - we haven’t ripped apart the fireplace and the exterior to know the extent of the damage yet. For how much they are asking for their houses, the quality is extremely disappointing.

They used the cheapest materials and labor to build my house. Not one square corner missing along with roof not built built to code and missing insualtion above garage and in attic.

This was the worst customer service experience we have ever had in any industry. We moved in Summer of '06 and STILL have half of our 1yr warranty list still not fixed. Ranging from a leaky roof to something as simple as phone outlets that don't work and only 1 grounded outlet for 3 bathrooms. WE ARE COMING UP ON 3 YEARS!!! From the beginning the expeditor was difficult and disrespectful. For example they put up the wrong stone on our fireplace, not what we had picked out. The expeditor came to look and tried to dismiss this issue because "it looked fine to him" and tried to talk us out of getting what we paid for. The first of many times he came over he asked my wife to speak with who was making the decisions, assuming it wasn't her and laughed when she said it was her. When they installed our granite countertops they did it without a backsplash. Then about a month later the countertops started to separate at the seams. Was a nightmare trying to get that fixed. We have 1 grounded electrical outlet in the upstairs bathroom for all 3 bathrooms in the house. We are looking into the legality of that issue. There were so many corners cut! We still almost 3 years later have random wires sticking out of the wall in the garage and stained ceilings because of a roof that STILL leaks! At the closing they had told us what we needed to come to the table with for our upgrade choices. The night before the closing we went over everything with our lawyer. We had noticed that the number they told us was actually much lower than what was owed. It was a fire drill trying to find the funds that quickly after having planned on the number 3hammer had given us. We are still not done dealing with this company and we are coming up on 3 years since we moved in. It has been one issue after another. The expeditors blow off appointments or call to let you know they are running late (in our experience ranging from an hour to 3 hours late). That doesn't work when you have to leave your job to meet them. It has been a nightmare and I would tell anyone considering working with 3Hammer or buying a 3hammer constructed house to reconsider! This was/is the WORST customer service experience we have ever had in any industry. I am also contacting the Better Business Bureau and the IL Consumer Protection Agency.
