Horrible! I would like my money back. Customer service representative was extremely rude the few times I called asking about the package I had purchased, and scheduling of my first appointment. She made the comment that they didn't like working with Angieslist as it was just an email confirmation that someone purchased a package and they were unsure what type of package Angieslist sold me. I called asking if I needed to be there for the appointment and to confirm my appointment on 4/14 as I was unsure if indoor and outdoor spray would occur during my appointment, the response from the company was "of course I needed to be there, why would you ask that". Had a scheduled appointment at 3PM Friday, 4/14. I left work early to meet the exterminator, at 3:15 I called the office asking for an ETA, again the representative was rude, put me on hold and told me the exterminator was 25 minutes out. No call saying they would be late, the lack of communication from this company has put a bad taste in my mouth. There are too many other pest control companies in the area that I would rather give my money to. I did end up speaking to the manager, Brian Mitchell who did apologize for the issue but offered no real help to the immediate matter. In speaking with Brian when I asked if I rescheduled if they would actually show up the next time was "of course we won't". This company is a joke.

Burr's employee found and plugged one entry point and placed a number of bait stations in various places around the basement. To date the mice are still eating the bait I use and dying. They may be mice that were already in the house when the entry point was plugged. I hope so. It is probably too soon to be certain that the treatment was unsuccessful but I fear that the problem is still with us. I contracted with Angies List for this service and when I had not heard from anyone for over a month I called Angies List and asked for a refund. My request was refused because it had been over a month. I don't know whether the problem was with Angies List or Burr but it left me unhappy with both organizations. I then told Angies List to see if they could get Burr to fulfill the contract which they did.
Description of Work: We have a continuing problem of mice in our basement. The bait I feed them does its job but then we have to contend with the odor of the rotting carcasses. I hoped that Burr could stop their entry.

Having worked in this industry for many years, I will say that curing a recurring rodent issue is a process that far surpasses what Angie's List's voucher included. Our rodent exclusion deal specifically states that it's for preventative purposes and would include a certain amount of equipment and minor gap/crevice sealing. According to the technician's notes on your work order, the pre-existing rodent population warranted control measures beyond the bullet points on the voucher. I'm so sorry there was a misunderstanding about the coverage. The solution we normally recommend for a rodent scenario just like yours would actually be our quarterly service, called Healthy Home Maintenance Gold. You only pay for 4 visits and if activity occurs in between then it's on the house for us to come back out to take care of the situation. We include general household insect control with that level of the program and it would provide routine maintenance to make sure no gaps were missed! If this is something you'd be interested in, we can waive the initial fee since you already paid through this voucher. Please let us know if we can do this for you. I was very happy with the results. We no longer have issues with box elder and japanese beetles coming in our house. They came when scheduled and did the job quickly and thoroughly. The person they sent was pleasant and explained what he was doing and why. I would definitely hire them again.

They guy was very nice and very helpful. He checked a couple things that we really hadn't planned on and we were grateful for that. We had thought about signing up for a year service with with them and talked with him about it. They have, like, a healthy house plan so that they can come out every so often. When I called it because it should have been more for the healthy house and he said he would write it up and the office would call. Nobody ever called so I called them to pay for it with a credit card and he told us that it was like a $170 and I said no it's got to be more than that because you signed up for the healthy house. She said I see nothing on here where it says you've signed up for that. I said I think you need to talk to the guy that was here. She said there are no notes so therefore you're not part of the plan. I was not happy with her response.

I'm writing this as a warning. During the original visit they ask you to sign a contract for 3 visits. They come out whether you have a problem orbit with the subsequent visits. They will come out whether you e ok'd the date or not which means you only get the outside taken care of and it the inside. They come when you've made it clear that you have an extremely ill child and do not wish them to bang on your door in the morning. They come out if you have not paid the bill and then call, text and send so many bills their postage could have paid for the service. They are pests themselves when it comes to business. And no- they couldn't determine at the first visit where the mice were getting in.

I want to make sure you know that we're not the type of company to bind folks to contracts. We have discounted programs with year long guarantees, but they're purely an option to save you money. I'm so sorry you felt this was a obligation! That's not how we do business at all. Regarding the service itself, we try to see our customers as much as possible. We'll perform exterior services on a routine schedule if it's what our customer wants, but we like to see our friends and customers. We're old fashioned in that we put the personal touch into everything we do. We probably felt bad you were tied up with an I'll child but didn't want your guarantee to become voided due to nonpayment or no response. We care about our customers. In no way did we mean to disturb you. We just wanted to talk to you in person. If we had that opportunity, we would have known about the persistent rodent activity after our initial attempt to pinpoint entry points. Rodents can be very elusive and tricky. More than one visit helps us measure activity, monitor pattern, etc. I apologize things didn't seem to go the way you expected. This was all due to the inability to speak with you! The provider came and sprayed our house (interior and exterior) for bugs/pests/bees/ants/etc. We went on a service plan that offered 4 treatments a year for around $125. The great thing about this plan is that if you needed them for ANYTHING during the year they would come back for free (no questions asked). This came in handy last year as we had a number of issues with bee and wasp nests; flying insects, etc. The guy who serviced us was great. Over time you came to know him and trust him. I'm sure that is the goal because when we canceled our service (due to budget challenges) we felt bad doing it because of our friendly and very skilled service man. The service was professional and effective. If we had more money we would have continued our yearly service.

We just moved into our home and there were a lot of insects (millipeds, box elder bugs) and a dead mouse that was found. So i called up and the woman on the phone said they would check and spray all inside and outside the home. We had a continual pest service at our last home so I had knowledge of what to expect, especially on a first visit. They also said they would check for mice. The man showed up on time then was here about ten minutes. All he did was spray the windows and doors for the insects. He never even checked the kitchen for mice even though that is where I said they were. He also said that they did not do outsides during the wintertime but we could have them come back in the spring if I wanted to get down the wasp nests and such. Then he left. That night, guess what?, I found a mouse. I called the company the next day and asked for a manager. I told the manager that I felt he did not do a very good and thorough job. The service man was also not very professional. The manager said that he would send someone out on Friday at 3, I also felt the manager was not very professional. By 4 on Friday, I called the company and the person said they would have someone call right back to let me know what was going on. I have yet to hear from them three weeks later... But of course they billed me.

I made the initial call on Friday, July 5th, and a service professional was at our home before noon on Saturday, July 6th. He confirmed that we had carpenter ants, discussed their habits in detail, answered our questions, and offered us a plan of action. He carried out the treatment plan immediately. We will receive a call in a month to schedule a follow-up visit. We were very pleased with the service call and impressed by the knowledge of the technician (I believe his name is Thad). We will not know if it was successful for a few weeks, but we appreciate the promptness and professionalism of Burr Pest Control.
Description of Work: The service technician came to diagnose, treat, and eliminate a pest problem which we were pretty sure was a carpenter ant infestation.

The person on the phone was great and knew exactly what we needed. Set up for a few days later. They were prompt and courteous and professional. I highly recommend this company.

They did a good job. They handled my home and they sprayed around the edge of the neighbors home at no charge. They did not debit my card until the work was done and they charged the amount that was quoted even though they did additional work. They were at my home when I needed them and it was somewhat of an emergency.

We've had a non-stop invasion of ants in our home in DeKalb; pavement ants, since it was purchased two months ago. I called three companies; two local and one big national, to find out what they would do and for how much. The two locals were very impressive on the phone: knowledgeable, asked and answered many questions, and spoke of integrated pest management and environmental concerns. I went with Burns, but would have happily gone with Bacon's. Neither company requires year-long contracts, but offers packages and follow-ups. Pricing seemed similar. Burns is affiliated with the Rockford company Burr's, which I didn't know at the time I set the appointment up. I probably would have researched Burr's more if I had known. Doesn't seem to make a difference at this point, though. The local technician arrived around the time we had scheduled: he listened to our ant issues while we walked all through the house and all around the outside. Then he explained what needed to be done: pesticide spray, bait in a few places, and a barrier around the house. He said that the ants are so tiny they can get in almost anywhere, so our caulking attempts to keep them out are kind of futile in this old brick house. The treatment is supposed to be good for three months, with the ants gone within two weeks. Our technician, Randy, was quiet, efficient, and pleasant overall. Overall, it was a good experience, but we won't know the results of the work for a couple of weeks.
