We contracted Empire for new carpeting throughout the house and removal of 650 ft of ceramic tile tile and installation of LVT. ALso included was the removal and replacement of sub-floor if needed. The tile removal was performed with no protective covering, tenting or venting. This resulted in the entire 2300 sq ft house covered in ceramic dust. The air was unbreathable and we forced to spend the noght in a hotel until a cleaning crew came in to clean the house. The sub-floor did not need to be touched, which we had paid $1200. When the carpet was installed we realizes the they had left out a room in the contract. When we asked to have the carpet adjusted with the overcharge hey refused. The LVT installation was awlful. Lumpy, bumpy tiles, missing grout, baseboards covered in grout. Empire said they would send an inspector out.They called at 9:00 am on a Saturday morning saying they would arrive between 2 and 4. Needless to say they never showed. They have repeatedly made appts and end up cancelling. All we have are empty promises a bumpy floor. We are out $8500 and now have to delay listing our home.

It went really well. They were not messy at all. They got done with 5 rooms in one day. They were very proffesional.

It was an absolute disaster but at that point, after the subcontractor came out and did the installation, we were thrilled with them. Our house is close to twenty years old, the floors were a mess, and we were very excited to finally have enough put aside to get new floorings. So we contacted them, their sales person came out and made us pick, we decided what we wanted and off he went and that was it for him. He did not tell us everything that we actually needed to do to clear the way for the installation. When the three installers got here, they had to move everything, there was furniture thrown out on our lawn, our closets, and it was just a huge mess. It was not their fault but they did the best they could. I thought they deserved a glowing review. However, I would not recommend Empire Flooring to anybody. It was a good price, they were all over it, and they rushed out here, did the work, and got the check. The customer service people were not bad. However, after we got the flooring, the ceramic tile started to popup a month later, and I contacted the installers rather than Empire Flooring. They sent someone out the next day, who looked at it, and said to us that if they had correct materials they would redo certain number of those tiles right then but since they did not, they would have to come back. In the meantime, Empire interceded and said that the installers will not be coming back, that they would pay umpteen dollars to an independent contractor from Long Island, NY to come here to do his own review for them, of what was going on. We got a puppy in February and he comes out with a urine detector and blames the damage on the dog, where the damaged had already occurred and shown to the installers a month later. Empire finally told us that we would have to pay additional money because it was our dog’s fault, which was completely illogical whatsoever, because we did not have the dog at the time of the problem. That’s when I had to say goodbye to them, we just didn’t want to deal with them anymore. We are pretty much on our own and so my husband is left with the task of fixing it now. The fact that we were delayed was because Empire people kept telling us their guys would be out on a certain day; then they would not show up, then we would wait for another two days, then four days and finally they told us that we would have to pay to fix the faulty floors. I would not fault the installers because I know they did a great job. They also sold us a discontinued laminate and there is something wrong with it because we are not able to keep it clean, it is sticky, and it is just not right. I waited for nineteen years for the floors and it was just a foul experience. The individual customer service people at Empire were very friendly but I would just emphasize others to stay local, it might be a little more expensive, but it would be less of a hassle.
