.Doug and I were frequently discussing details as the construction progressed. There were a few necessary deviations from the plan and estimate. Doug provided an estimate each time before proceeding. I enjoyed watching my plan being realized and felt Doug was really there to please me. My wife and I are extremely pleased with our new deck. The quality is very good and what I expect for a wood deck, and really solid! We did have a minor design change to the roof structure required by the building inspector. Don't overlook the local building codes and requied inspections. The job took longer than expected, mostly due to Doug's helper not being available everyday and having to order addtional materials for some of the design changes.Overall, I am very satisfied and liked working with someone who listened to my concerns and ideas. Doug never acted like my ideas were not important or silly. The finished deck is exactly what we imagined.
Description of Work: I sketched a covered deck design and the estimate and work were done based on my sketch. The deck is about 18x18, pressure treated wood, with a shingled roof attached to the house.

The plan was my own design. It required some adjustments due to location of buried utilities and building codes. All the work was done by Doug and a helper, so we had a good working relationship. They were always working toward giving me the finished look I wanted. We are extremely pleased with the results and our new deck gets a lot of complements. With the exception of a few additions that we agreed to, the finished price was exactly as estimated. The job took a little longer than expected, but turned out great.
Description of Work: Doug's Handywork built an 18' x 18' wood deck with a shingled roof to my design specifications. Everything from footings to the roof construction were built to city/county code. The deck is treated lumber with spindled railings. Four 6"x6" posts support a gable roof that ties into the house. The underside of the roof is open and sheeted with car siding that gives it a nice finished planked look. The lighted ceiling fan was the final touch.
