+ -1 moreIt went well. We were told that it would take 1 1/2 days for them to finish; we could walk on the floors that second evening and probably return the furniture to the rooms the following day. However, the floor didn't dry as quickly as they thought and we had to wait another day to put the furniture back in. The odor wasn't as bad as other people say it is. A lesser odor lingered, though, for about a week. Dust was hardly an issue because their machines suck a lot of it up, and Briggs blocked off other rooms with heavy plastic. Overall, a very good experience; floors look fabulous!!
Description of Work: Briggs initially came over to give an estimate on my old wooden floors (large living room and dining room). A few weeks later, I called to make an appt. They showed up promptly (even a few minutes earlier), and sanded down the floors. They then used a product to bring out the natural stain of the wood.

Description of Work: Steve arrived on the morning of our appt. promptly. He completely removed the oak floor in one of our bedrooms and replaced it with the original type of flooring, solid oak. It matched the original oak flooring in which he had to blend the planks into the hallway. He then sanded two other bedrooms and a living room and a small hallway Our home is approx. 1300sq ft.. He then clear coated it. The total time of the project was to be 3 days. It was done in 4. The third day it was warm and rainy so he requested one more day to make sure the high humidity wouldn't be present to effect the finish coat. My wife and I were totally satisfied with his professional services. He is a true craftsmen of the flooring trade. We discovered him by chance and I looked him up on Angies list. He was the best price of 2 other flooring contractors.

+ -1 moreMy husband had set up an appointment for 6pm, but never received confirmation on the appointment. Steve showed up at our home at 5:45 pm. He rang our doorbell at 6, but since I was in the shower (unaware of the appointment) he sat in his truck until I could get ahold of him via cell phone (6:05pm). Steve gave us a great quote, and we proceeded to book service. He called a few days before our scheduled job and asked if we could move the date since he had a general contractor push out a project. We could not move the date, and he seemed annoyed. We then called the day before and asked if he would assist in moving the appliances from our kitchen since it wasn't in the written quote. He stated that wasn't included in the quote and would not. We threatened to cancel the job since we were concerned about disconnecting the gas line for our stove, and he told us there would be a cancellation fee for canceling the job within 40 hrs per IL state law (no such law exists.) My husband called Steve later in the day and asked if he would assist in disconnecting the stove/fridge and he proceeded to say the job had been a hassle from the start and he wasn't going to do the job anymore. Very unprofessional.

Description of Work: I pulled up old carpeting in my bedroom and discovered a real mess. Yes, it was hardwood, but it was full of old paint, a large area with glue, another with plywood, linoleum, and floor leveler where a wall used to be. I called Briggs because I've used them before and figured if anyone could fix it, they could. They did. They didn't bat an eye. Did I tell you the floor is beautiful? I highly recommend them!

Description of Work: Waiting for response on why the polyurethane finish did not last longer than two years on the hardwood floors. Contractor seems to be blaming us but we have not abused the floors. He originally agreed to refinish the floors but later recanted.

+ -1 moreDid an excellent job. Entire job took about 3 days to sand down all surfaces and refinish with 2 coats. Left the home cleaned up each day and took out all debris. Actual cost came in at $750 under bid.
