Signed a contract to have our house re-sided September 2020. Work finally started almost a full year later in August 2022. We were verbally told the job would take 1.5 weeks but it wound up taking six full weeks. Owner says he had it estimated to take ~25 days but we weren’t told that until the project was mostly complete. We dealt with loud vulgar music, our property being treated like a landfill, poor craftsmanship, new siding being damaged from negligence, and nails/sharp debris that had to be fished out of our dog’s mouth multiple times. After the six weeks there were still finishing touches that hadn’t been completed resulting in multiple walk arounds with the work crew and ownership to point out issues. Some have been addressed but others still remain so work is not complete. This didn’t stop them from sending a bill for the full amount. Will never do business with this company again.

Description of Work: Fanth-Curry replaced the siding on my garage. It had been severely damaged by termites, which were still infesting the front of the garage. They ended up having to put in extra time and replace a few more things on the garage than initially expected as a result, but handled everything extremely well. The garage looks great and hopefully is now termite free as well!

They began work when they said they would. Gutters leaked badly and had them out twice to correct the problem. They did make everything right, were very good about it, and am pleased with the work.

I chose F-C because, although the price was higher than other estimates, I considered the quality of the Provia windows to be higher than the Allside windows proposed by other companies. Among other reasons, the empty spaces in the window frames could be filled with insulation - a feature not available with some other companies. Note 1: If a window salesman tells you that "empty space is one of the best insulators" like a few of them told me, don't believe them! Anyone who believes that empty space insulates better than insulated space is daft! I would seriously question the integrity of any salesman who attempts to get a customer to believe that. I chose windows with three panes of glass filled with Krypton gas because insulating against cold was a high priority with me. Many people consider this overkill, but I was willing to spend a little more to keep my home warm in the winter. Evidently, the normal configuration for our area is two panes of glass and Argon gas. Replacement windows are installed within the outside framework of the existing windows; and since the exposed area of my old frames were deteriorated and ugly, I specified that they be covered during the installation. Synthetic quarter-round was suggested. I did not want synthetic trim on non-functional areas so I specified solid oak quarter-round. F-C does not have a carpenter on their staff; so after they delivered the oak lumber, I had to stain and finish it myself. Note 2: A few salesmen tried to convince me that their windows were best because a meter showed that almost all heat directed at their windows did not pass through. This is because of the amount of coating on the glass. Yes, their windows did have a lot of reflective coating, but this has nothing to do with keeping cold out. The number of panes, type of gas between the panes, and amount of insulation in the frames are the features that keep cold air out. I considered the one salesman who tried to convince me that his windows were best because of his demonstration with the meter and the hot lamp (he insisted that my wife watch) to be sleazy and unprofessional, and I never spoke to him again. Positives: 1. The windows seem to be doing a great job of keeping heat and cold out. Our furnace and AC seem to be working less now. 2. The installers noticed that the previous outdoor trim was textured, so they used textured trim on their installation too. A different company that I used on one window used the cheaper smooth trim, completely ignoring what was used on the rest of the house. 3. Outside cleanup was excellent - there was no indication on the ground that any construction was done. 4. F-C did come through with the $100 rebate for referring another customer. Negatives: 1. Interior floors were not protected during the installation in any way. There was no covering put down on the floors or stairs anywhere and there was a lot of vigorous traffic on the carpeted stairs, especially. Interior cleanup amounted to just picking up the big pieces. All other interior contractors that I have used have covered the floors with either tarps or plastic before beginning their work, and have made sure the the floors were clean before leaving when the job was finished. 2. Most of the installation was done well, but one window was off by 1/4 inch resulting in caulking being used to correct the gap (after the job was finished and I called the representative back). Almost all screw-access holes were left uncovered, an oversight which was corrected upon call-back. 3. The most glaring problem was the lack of carpentry skills in working with the interior solid oak trim. Finish nails were all set right at the surface and left that way. I had to reset all of them below the surface and fill the holes with colored putty. Overall, I am pleased with the windows; and I am satisfied with the installation after the initial problems (except for the finish work that I had to do) were corrected following my call-back. I still believe that a more professional installation would have included floor protection.

It went terribly! First I want to explain something. I had not submitted a rating for this particular establishment because this took place several years ago and I am not sure if the business is still being run by the same owner. Most likely is, but I wouldn't want to give an innocent party a bad rating. Since the ad in the phone book says "since 1957" I think we are okay. I can tell you that the whole experience was AWFUL. The workers pulled off the shingles on a good portion of my house (including the porch) and then walked off, leaving it exposed to the weather. As they walked away that evening, my neighbor caught up with them and asked if they intended to cover up the roof. They said no, that it would be okay. He warned them that it was supposed to storm. They replied that they had covered up the roof with a piece of felt, which would be enough protection. That night we had absolutely torrential rainfalls. My daughter and I were flabbergasted when the rain just poured in like crazy. I mean, it was like six firetrucks were trying to put out a nonexistent fire in my home. My porch ceiling was completely ruined and had to be replaced. The bowl-shaped light fixture was completely filled with water and I am still amazed that it did not cause a fire! The ceiling to my entryway was ruined and had to be completely replaced. Several rooms on the second floor had really bad water damage to the ceilings. I don't mean just a can of paint and a little spackling, I mean thousands of dollars worth of damage. I called Fanth and Curry that night and all I got was a worthless recording. The next day, the crew (and crew foreman, or whatever he was supposed to be) came out and viewed the damage. To my surprise, the foreman acted as if it was no big deal. I should have fired them on the spot and told them to get off my property….I didn't. Unfortunately, it gets worse. My neighbor ( who is a good friend of mine) watched and meticulously took photos during the installation of the roof. When the roof was complete, I called the city inspector to check it out. My neighbor came over and started showing photos of the roof from start to finish to the inspector. During this time, the owner of Fanth and Curry became very intimidating to my neighbor and repeatedly told him to leave. After viewing all the photos, the inspector said "This whole roof has got to come off and be completely replaced". Incredibly, the owner of Fanth and Curry intended to have the very same crew redo the job. I told him if they set one foot on my property that I would call the police. He ended up sending out a different crew to tear off and replace the roof. Fast forward to the present year, 2013. Recently I noticed that shingles are starting to come off the roof. I called Fanth and Curry to see how long they back their work. Not five years, not ten years, not fifteen years…..TWO years. Otherwise, they charge to replace missing shingles. Since it had been over two years, I decided I would not give them a single penny more for anything. I called someone from Angie's list (Agape Construction and Improvement) and they did a fantastic job of replacing the shingles.

I think the fascia could have been better. Some pieces are not as tight to the house as I think they should be. They left nails and aluminium pieces everywhere! 2 gutter caps leaked. They had to come out twice before they got fixed.

I received an estimate and signed a contract with Doug of Fanth Curry on 8/5/13 that quoted a total price of $6200.00 for the entire job. I was assured that this project would be started within the next two weeks and gave 10% down ($620.00). About two weeks later I had not heard anything from him, so I contacted Doug and was told that they would be going to the property that very day to take another look at the job and that he would get back to me via telephone. After three days had passed and no word from Doug, I decided to call the Fanth Curry office. The secretary advised me that Doug would be getting back to me as soon as possible. Finally, three days later, the owner of the company called me to let me know that Doug had underbid the job and that it will be at least another four weeks before they will be able to get to the project. I reminded the owner that at the time that I signed the contract agreeing to the $6200.00 I was assured by Doug that it would not be any more than that (he actually told me that it might even be less). The owner didn't seem to listen to a word I was saying, and instead went on to tell me "It's not my fault you let the roof go too long". (Nevermind the fact that this is a foreclosed home that we just purchased) His only solution was to offer me a refund. I agreed and also warned him that I would be reporting my experience with his company on Angie's list. He then told me that he's not on Angie's list and that he's never paid them a penny. I took that moment to educate him on exactly what Angie's list is and that he would be getting an "F". His only response to me was to have a good f***ing day. How professional. After sharing this story with others, I have since learned of several similar encounters with this same company. Please be smart and go with a different company.

They are very good. The office called me and gave me some information to see their work on other homes they had serviced.
Description of Work: They repaired some siding on our home and a complete roof job.
We called the company. Joe came out to find out what we wanted to do. He showed us what he had and we picked out siding, soffit, and fascia as well as the color. He also explained what the windows would like because they are not your normal rectangular shaped windows. He gave us a few ideas and said they can build to what we like. Within a few weeks, our new siding, soffit, and fascia was going up and the new half circle windows were being put in. The staff on site were very friendly. They told us what they did every day and it showed in their progress. In about 5 weeks everything was done. We are very happy with Fanth-Curry.
Description of Work: We had our siding, soffit, fascia, and windows replaced. They were very nice and helpful; from the guys who actually did the job to the office staff. They had very good customer service. I was recommend by a co-worker who had the siding replaced as well. I would recommend them.
