Description of Work: Shane installed a sewer check valve or backwater valve

Description of Work: I used Shane Ray Sewer Service for a main sewer line block that had roots in the line. They put in a clean out on the main sewer line. They had to do a 15-feet dig.

Description of Work: I went down to the basement and discovered over 4" of sewage water covering about 1/3 of my basement. I called a friend who referred me to Shane Ray Sewer Service for emergency services to unblock the drain. It was about 1am Saturday when I called. Shane answered my call promptly and was at my house in about 30 minutes or so later - with a helper. He gave me an estimate of $420 for the emergency service weekend visit and opening up my the sewer drain so the water could go down and determining the reason for the back up. They discovered a hole in my sewer drain - a large ball of tree roots and mud sitting inside the broken section of that drain caused the back up. They took a lot of time locating the actual broken tile in my yard and found it near one of my big trees in the middle of a bunch of huge roots. Final cost for the emergency visit was $378 -I got a 10% discount. i contracted with them to replace the broken tile immediately and to add an outside access pipe. He gave me a bid of $1350.00. This included digging up and replacing the broken pipe section and installing an outside access so if my basement ever floods again the drain process can be done outside rather than in my basement. He and his crew were at my house 3 days later. Sean was there, working, the entire time. It was a bitterly cold day in February and the job proved to be much more involved and problematic than he initially thought it would be when he gave me the bid. They had to dig almost totally by hand toward the end because the back hoe could not get all the way in because of huge tree roots etc. There were 4 others working with him as well and the job took around 7 hours. The crew was wonderful - they kept me informed all the way through this dig and were cheerful and professional. The actual service was finding the 6" ABS which was connected to an 8" truss pipe and replacing it with a solid connection and installing a 6" access pipe at the location of the dig. I believe they had to dig about 10' down to get to the broken pipe. Shane told me he had seriously underestimated his cost but he always stands by any bid he makes and would honor the price he gave me earlier. I gave him a big tip. They left the dug up dirt in a pile next to access pipe so the rains would start settling the dirt and the access pipe would drop. They returned today 5/4/11 to spread the dirt around, fill in the sunken area and cut off the protruding access pipe section to ground level.
