Guys showed up on time and were very courteous. They worked as a team removing old caulk. It turns out that some of the glue from the tub liner was on the surface of the cracks under the caulk that was there that was hard as a rock. They got that cleaned up, but it took longer because of the glue so I had to purchase some extra time from them. They were working the whole time so I didn't feel like they were scamming me. The quality of the work was good and they cleaned up well after themselves. Would use them again.
Description of Work: We have a tub liner with lots of shelves. They removed old caulk and glue and applied new caulk.

They did a great job. It took long and was more expensive than I thought - the additional 2 hours of two people was a bit much but I totally understood the need to spend the extra time to do it right.

They did a great job and were very professional. They finished in an hour with two guys (1 x 2 = 2 man hours) so it took half the time I had allotted with the deal (4hrs for $115) but I wasn't sure how much time it would take :-). They showed up shortly after the requested time but they were very accomodating with squeezing in the job on short timing with an already hectic schedule. It was somewhat difficult to initially get in touch with them to schedule the work. Once I did get in touch with Jim, he apologized for the response delay as they had been extremely busy. All in all, I would use them again. In fact, I plan to use them to install bathroom exhaust vents.

The special deal was a GREAT deal... So a crew of 2 for 2 hours = $100... But if they run over (in my case by about 15 minutes) you pay for a crew of 2 and the minimum increment is an additional hour... making it not such a good deal. If 1 person had come for 4 hours, I would have been billed for 1 additional hour rather than 2. The quality of the work appears to be good. No complaints there, which is why I said I'd use them again.

We purchased this deal to patch two 12" x 8" areas where my husband had to cut open to determine where a leak was coming from and retape the deal from where some of the water had dripped through. We contacted the owner, who told my husband he would send 2 guys to work 2 hours to complete the drywall fix. He also mentioned that he was thinking that the job would take an additional hour, but never came out to evaluate this beforehand. He indicated that he would call us back on Saturday to see if he was able to do the work on Monday. He never called over the weekend, then contacted me on Monday to say that his guys were available and could they come out? Luckily, I was already working from home, so I was able to accommodate. The two workers came out and evaluated the job. They said they didn't have all of the materials needed to complete it, but that the owner would be out soon to bring the drywall. They said they would start working at preparing the area while they waited. He came with the drywall and basically left after discussing the possibility of additional work we need done at our house. They worked quietly and neatly for the most part. My husband came home from work and they were still within their two hours that I had paid for with the deal, and he noticed that it appeared that they were actually almost done and we might not need to pay them for the additional hour outside of the deal. All of a sudden, one of the workers takes his drywall knife and digs out a chunk of the work that he had just fixed the seam (not even where they had replaced the drywall) and starts up again, which now coincidentally takes us into the hour that is outside of the "deal". My husband was watching this whole time, so when he saw this happen, he went over to see what happened. They made some excuse about there being a "bubble" and continued to work on that part for the next hour. At the end of that hour, he once again takes his drywall knife and digs out that piece AGAIN, even though it looked perfectly fine from our vantage point, which was 8 feet away. At this point, my husband and I are convinced that he is doing this because they are trying to milk an additional hour of work out of us (at $50.00 per person per hour), so he stops him and tell them both to get out. My husband called the owner to tell him that they kept making gouges in our ceiling and he said he would call his guys and get back to us. He doesn't call back until after 9 p.m. that evening, when he states that his guys were right and we were wrong and he wasn't going to come out and even look at what they did because he believes his guys. My husband ended up fixing the last gouge they did within 10 minutes time and it looks great. Bottom line is, I wish I had read some of the older posts for this company because it seems to me that he puts out these deals and then has his workers go beyond that time, so he can charge additional. I have since read several other reviews that basically accuse him of this practice as well. Beware if you are purchasing any deals through him - more than likely, you will owe additional money!

Well, first off this is not Ceramic Tile category. [member name removed] contacted me about the above Plaster/drywall repairs. He asked me if there was any way that we could estimate the repairs for these two areas. He sent me a picture of the area, I described what the procedure for repairs and an approximate timeline of 3 hours time due to cut back of holes, shimming, cutting and installing drywall, taping, plastering, drying, re-coating, sanding, touch-up, and clean up of area, as there was a lot of covering with plastic, due to many items in the area of repairs. He asked if we could accommodate repairs for that following Monday because his wife would be working from home and he had people coming out to visit that following week, which was only 2 days away, and already booked with jobs. I explained that I would call if we could fit him in but wasn't sure it would worked based on work load. As things turned out, the previous jobs finished earlier than anticipated, so I called and talked with his wife who said she was available. The guys did arrive with all necessary supplies including drywall. They didn't have the proper work ticket, due to the fact we did not anticipate being able to go there. Since [member name removed] asked me to quote another area for drywall, I was able to see the work area and additional work they wanted done (Family room drywall ceiling and can lights). The guys were working on area when I arrived. When coating or patching drywall especially over an area which was wet you can get a bulge or pop at times. We simply cut out the bad spot and re-apply to repair. The guys are instructed to check these areas for proper finish to ensure the finish product. The job was within the described time frame and [member name removed] told them to stop right now and leave. At that point, after they left, he called me asking me to do something about the small pop location, to come there and fix it. The guys were doing there job, in the agreed time frame, and properly. There wasn't anyone charging additional more than what was stated originally over the phone, and described. I explained to [member name removed], that a simple phone call before sending them away, would have taken care of any discrepancies. He chose differently. Drywall repairs and finishing are not a perfect science. We treat all of our jobs and customers with the same professionalism and caring. It is our utmost concern to achieve the highest level of quality and service for all of our clients. We strive to constantly better our selves and our customer relationships. Respectfully, Jim Taccola

I removed an acoustical tile from the wall and found the area underneath was beige. Richard prepped the area including repairing the damage left from removing the tile (They went in with BIG screws). He kept the work area tidy and unobtrusive. Even his work fan seemed to be made with low noise in mind. Painting looked good with no brush, roller marks, or remaining lighter areas.

Hello, We appreciate your business and post! [member name removed] was very easy to contact and arrange timing with. We were available on fairly short notice, and he was available with an open area of time for scheduling to accommodate our work load. He emailed me a picture and description of exactly what he wanted and had paint ready to go when Richard arrived. We could not ask for the job to go more smoothly! He went over and beyond by tipping Richard when he completed the work. My deepest thanks. Sincerely, Jim Taccola

Work was performed on schedule and the results were excellent. The doorway between two rooms was removed and replaced with a finished wall; patching and removing portion of old wall and replacing with new drywall was well done; in addition, they handled some extra patching and trim repair that wasn't in the quote for no additional cost; lastly, work like this can get messy quickl but they spent time covering all doorways and items of furniture as well as the stairs all the way to the entryway of the house; they kept all areas clean and there was no dust outside of the rooms being worked on - and once completed, they cleaned those rooms thoroughly as well; A great job at a fair price.

They arrived at 8:35am for a 9am appointment. I showed them the areas and they explained that they should be able to fix the cracks within the 2 hours time frame (2 guys for 2 hours). They also said that there is a $10 charge for supplies. According the the contract the minor supplies were supposed to be included. I did not want to start off on the wrong foot and haggle about $10 thinking that may cause them to go over the alloted time. I offered, and they accepted, bottles of water during the work. They completed the work at 10:30am...which was perfect! Just under the alloted 2 hours. I showed the Angies List contract to them stating in TWO areas that "tape and spackle" were supposed to be included. But, I didn't want to argue and they did do a good job. I had $9 in my wallet, so we called it even---$9 and 2 bottles of water. They did a good job and were nice to deal with...but, they should not be asking for monies that the contract says are not owed.

The work itself was well done. I had two areas that needed significant patching (dry wall) and the freshly painted walls show no sign of previous damage or work. Lesson learned in this process however...when you pay for four hours of service be sure to clarify how that service will be provided. In this case, the company sent two guys to work for two hours. When they finished the patch work with twenty minutes left "on the clock" they told my husband that there was not enough time to continue on with any priming/painting. While I competely understand that twenty minutes wasn't enough time, I was disappointed that I paid for forty more minutes of work. Forty minutes would have been plenty of time to paint at least three of the small half walls in that area. In the future I will be relunctant to purchase a service that is delivered in this manner as I don't feel I got the full value of service for the price I paid.

Everything went really well - they were good about asking whether I wanted to keep the old trim (no) and letting me know of any issues that came up during the project (it's an old house, so there are always issues). This was a small project, but what I really appreciated was that Jim (the owner) was able to book me into his crew's already packed schedule when I explained that I needed the project done ASAP because I had a new closet system scheduled for installation the following week. This was my first time calling J T General Contracting, and I couldn't believe that he was so willing to accommodate the tight scheduling issue. I had called a few other handymen/contractors and was told up front that they were all booked out for 2 to 4 weeks. The guys were great, the price was great and Jim was really good about the flexibility of the scheduling. He followed up with me on the day of the work to let me know the approximate time that Richard and Chuck would be at my house. I have several other smallish projects to be done around my house, and I will definitely call these guys - and I will try to give them more advance notice next time!
Description of Work: Richard and Chuck came to the house and removed a piece of wood trim (a cleat from an old closet shelf) in a closet. The cleat had been there for about 50 years, so I knew there would be damage to the plaster wall. The did a nice job of repairing the wall, sanding it perfectly and cleaning up.

I purchased the big deal for 4 man hours of caulk repair. I went back and forth a few times to schedule the appointment but got something scheduled within 1-2 weeks. They did arrive about 1/2 hr early which wasn't a big deal, would rather have them be early than late. They informed my wife that any addl. labor would be at a charge of $50.00/hr. Once she showed them the master bathroom they explained that caulk wasn't included and we would have to pay for that, which ended up costing an addl. $14. As far as the work goes they did a great job on the area treated. However, when I was scheduling the appt. I explained that the master bath tub also needed to be re-caulked. when I got home I came to find out they only re-caulked the master shower. their invoice even listed that the master tub was to be re-caulked. I'm not sure why it wasn't done. I would think that 2 guys could have completed that along with the shower in the 2 hrs. that they were there. Overall a good experience except for the fact that not all work was done. Had I been home instead of my wife I would have made sure they could have gotten the tub caulked as well.

I purchased an Angie's List Deal for three hours of grout/caulk repair. J T General Contracting responded quickly by email to set up an appointment. Two guys arrived almost promptly to perform the work. The general parameters of the deal were very clearly explained to me. After taking a look at the tub surround, it was determined that some of the grouting needed to be removed and replaced which would entail an extra hour or so of work. The grouting was chipped/missing in small areas, so I was glad for the extra effort in order to restore the look of the surround. Their estimate for the additional work was spot on. The new grout and the new caulk look absolutely wonderful. The contractors were very nice and were respectful of my home. They left no mess, cleaning up the debris created during the repair. I am very satisfied with the work performed, the company' s overall demeanor, and the quality and value of the work performed.

The crew didn't show up until very late in the day. About an hour and half after their scheduled time, I called and left a message. They showed up another hour and a half later. They didn't apologize or explain the delay. The work they did, however was good. They removed old caulk and replaced it. They also re-grouted several tiles. I was a little disappointed that there were not able to remove old caulk along the bottom edge of the tub and around the toilet. They said they tried but it was to hard (the grout was too hard to chip away with the tools they had). Overall the crew was pleasant, efficient and completed the work within the three hours. (Two crew members were here for an hour and half.)

I had purchased a Big Deal and they were able to schedule the work very quickly. Two workers arrived within an hour as scheduled and they repaired about a half dozen small to medium drywall cracks. The quality of the work was excellent and they cleaned up well. The Big Deal was for 1 worker for 4 hours or 2 workers for 2 hours and the job ended up taking about 4 hours for two workers, so the additional time amounted to twice the Big Deal price. In hindsight, it would have been a better deal had I purchased 2 of the Big Deals instead of one but otherwise I was very satisfied with the quality and timeliness of the work.

My caulk was getting old and the seams of my shower were cracking a little. I purchased the Angie's List Big Deal and JT contacted me within 24 hours. We agreed on a date very quickly. Two gentlemen showed up and explained the whole process. Because there were 2 gentlemen, you get 1 1/2 hours worth of work instead of 3 as the Big Deal mentions. They explained that anything after that would be an extra charge. They got it done within the time limit and my shower looks like new. I'm very happy with their service and will probably use them again.

First, my deepest apology for getting JT Contracting's review confused with another company. As for the caulking job, it was outstanding. Rotting drywall meticulously removed so new wallpaper could be applied once the wall was primed. In addition to the repair, any missing caulk was replaced and the work area left clean and spotless. I am very impressed with the professionalism of the 2 gentlemen sent out to do the job. They did a excellent job. When I'm ready to shop around for a glass shower door, I'll call them for installation. Thanks Angie's List for the great recommendation. Ciao!
Description of Work: The 2 gentlemen came out and replace rotted drywall and missing caulk in my master bathroom shower area.
