High Performance Construction

I normally tackle most of my own interior renovations, but as this was a particularly tricky, water-damaged plaster repair and painting project in a 100+ year old home, I called on Dave Bonertz. I was happy I did. Dave is the consummate professional - always punctual and leaves everything clean and orderly. I was especially pleased with the price. I will definitely be calling Dave for my next project.

David was quick to respond, he started the job promptly, finished on time and cleaned up after himself. The finished work was excellent and he gave us some very helpful tips on the priming and painting that we planned to do ourselves. I will be hiring him again if I find myself in need of his services.

Everything went as I had hoped. All annoyances taken care of. The bathroom looked brand new.I will be having him back and recommending him to all.

Dave was excellent to work with. He was responsive and showed up when he said he would. He did fantastic work with what I thought were unique circumstances, my house being over 100 years old and some of the interesting things done to the house before i moved in. Just a great job that was completed in a timely manner with great communication. I would not hesitate to hire Dave again.

Dave transformed a real problem into a stairwell that looked brand new and fresh. He is a craftsman who not only repaired the broken plaster but added trim so it looks professionally finished. He had a wealth of knowledge and gave great advise. Very reasonable and punctual as well.

I had a 2 bedroom condo that was looking a little run down. I gave Dave a call and we was able to work me in. He was very professional and he has great pricing. Dave helped us select colors and made recommendations on how we could save money (this was a rental). He worked very hard and was able to paint the whole condo in 4 days. Came out to give an estimate when it worked for me. Started the next day and completed it in a timely fashion. Work was done well and to my standards.

Dave is a skilled and exoerienced painter and craftsman with an outstanding work ethic. I was looking for someone to paint the walls, ceilings and trim in a five-room basement. He gave me a very fair quote and was able to start the next day. He helped me pick a paint color, did an excellent job on the painting itself and even fixed problems left by a previous contractor. He showed up promptly even though it was below zero and he worked strainght through New Year’s weekend. He covered all the furniture carefully and cleaned up every night. Dave takes pride in his work and really cares about doing a good job for the customer. I have already talked to him about coming back to do some work in the spring.

Well the only person that was on the project who was professional was Dave. Not only did he make the house look incredible,but he also spent quite some time fixing everyone else's mistakes.Dave redid some horrible trim,patched and repatched ceilings and walls when the electrician and plumber made major mistakes.Dave was the only person on the job who always showed up,and communicated ,and he was so neat,unfortunately he had to spend his time cleaning everyone else's mess as well.He was the only person on the job who I gave keys to,because I completed trusted him.I would never hesitate to recommend him,he is a real artist with incredibly high standards,which were utterly lacking in every other person I used.

This job went very smoothly. I am fortunate to have found a genuine, experienced wet plasterer, as they are so very rare these days. Guys who do drywall alone would not have had the know-how to complete this specialized job. Dave is the real thing. He knows his materials, and can assess the job and accurately estimate time. Dave came out to give me an estimate the day I called and was able to start this pre-Christmas repair right away. He was prompt, tidy, and kept me informed throughout the multi-day project. Dave is cost conscious and give the homeowner options and explains alternatives. Everything was completed to my satisfaction and I recommend Dave's work.

Great job ! A very small job but in a tricky place near exposed plumbing. He didn't hesitate for a second after informing him that it was a small job. Came right out, on time, and took care of the job right away. Absolutely a perfect job. Could never tell a repair was done. Cleaned up and was courteous throughout the entire process.

Dave arrived within days of the estimate and worked six days a week. He was prompt, detail oriented and provided an excellent interior paint job. He was very protective of our furniture, floors etc. and cleaned up every night. It took 3 1/2 weeks for our 2900 square foot home. In addition he gave us great advice on how to do a multitude of things in our house to get it ready for sale. When we decided to remove our carpets, he took charge in removing the old carpet. He was very experienced in drywall repairs and painting. He was a pleasure to work with and we were thrilled to have him perform a fantastic painting job and help us with a variety of other things that we were encountering to try to sell our house. We would jump at the chance to hire him again.

Amazing. Dave came over immediately when I requested a quote, on a Saturday morning, and he started work that Monday. As I had another guy who was going to complete the job, and that guy fell through, I was a bit stressed, as I was going out of town and I was having furniture delivered. Dave cleared his schedule and got it done from beginning to end in less than a week. He also moved most of my furniture, and took special care to put tarps over everything. His work is meticulous and thorough, and he did an amazing job. We discovered there were a few HVAC vents that has been soiled through careless workmanship when I had my hardwood floors refinished. He shared a way to make them look like new, also painting an outlet cover that was the wrong color, so everything matched. Dave worked consistently until the job was completed and was very good with clean up, and the like. He also dealt with my 2 large rescue dogs, who want to be involved in everything. Dave really surpassed my expectations, and I was very thankful he was available to meet my time constraints. I have no reservations in giving him an outstanding recommendation and referral. I will call him again when I am ready for other paint jobs.

We have worked with Dave several times throughout the past few years and will continue to do so. Dave is very responsive, he gets back to us right away and can usually stop by to see what we need done within a day or two. He is always on time or early, very professional and keeps a clean workspace. Plaster repair can be very messy but he keeps the home and furniture clean and cleans up each day. The quality of his work is impeccable and we have been so happy with every job he has done for us. During this job, one of the repairs we needed was a small spot in the stairwell but we ended up throwing out the paint can we originally so we didn't know what to use this time. He took the time to find a good match and didn't just repaint that section of wall but he painted the entire wall so it was consistent. This took extra time and actually an additional day for him to do so but he finished the job even though this was unexpected. We are thrilled to have found such a fantastic contractor.

Great! Very clean and did a great job on our walls and ceiling. He even fixed some spots on other walls we asked him about.

Great ! Very punctual. Finished both bathrooms in a little over a day. Completely covered floors and fixtures to protect from loose plaster and paint. Scraped both ceilings of all loose plaster and paint. Then added multiple layers of thin durabond plaster to allow drying between layers. Had to return for a second day for only an hour or so to finish sanding smooth and a complete cleanup of both baths. Saved a lot of money as opposed to a complete drywall ceiling replacement. Looked as good as new after painting.

He was on time and was extremely neat with drop clothes etc. I was extremely happy with his work

He was very careful to cover all our bookcases, and move and/or cover our furniture during the repair work. Then he painted the ceiling, along with the hallway leading into the kitchen, and then the ceiling in the kitchen. We have used High Performance Contractors for many years. Dave is very thorough, and completes things in a timely, thorough, and efficient manner. Over the years, we have used his services for room additions, painting the interior and exterior, along with odd jobs throughout the house. Obviously, we were very satisfied with the High Performance work!

Dave came out and gave me an estimate on a Saturday. He quoted the job and the length of time it would take and we scheduled the work. The entire job ended up taking less time and cost considerably less than originally quoted thanks to his recommendations on how to best proceed with the job. End result looks great. Would definitely recommend Dave.

Dave did an excellent job taping and finishing the drywall. Very efficient and conscientious. If he says he will be there he is there. Superior job painting, the cut in line between the ceiling and the walls is near perfect, a steady hand and the best I have seen. Most importantly though, he is very thorough with the clean up and very mindful of how to control dust which on other jobs for us has been a real problem particularly with dogs who like to track the drywall dust everywhere. Not an issue with this project. 5-Stars! Absolutely no reservations.

I honestly thought the drywall would have to be replaced rather than patched because it was sawed off, not always in a straight line. Dave patched and it looks fantastic! He also dry walled around some pipes and it looks so good you would think the wall was there before the pipes. Dave was professional and always prompt and the work far exceeded my expectations.

Our bath vanity was removed and big holes were opened in the wall to repair the plumbing. Dave came in to patch the wall. His work is amazing. The wall looks better now than before the vanity was pulled out because he not only patched the plumbing damage, but he also smoothed out a few other areas of the wall. It looks fantastic, and we couldn't be more pleased. Not only does he do great work, but he is responsive, prompt, and neat. We will be calling him again soon ...
