OLD WORLD BRICK PAVING

This is the second time I've had Frank and Old World do a job for me and I'm looking forward to the next time. Frank is a pleasure to talk to and deal with. He explains what he's thinking and what his crew will do when they arrive. Even better, when they arrive, that's exactly what they do. Quickly, cleanly and efficiently. Solid company, great service.

In 2011 we decided we wanted to have a new patio in front of our home. After getting several quotes we were fortunate to find Frank at Old World Brick Paving. He was extremely helpful in designing our new patio with a new front entrance eliminating the steps to our front door. We were so impressed and happy with this new Unilock patio we decided to have Frank create a new Unilock patio in the back of our home. This patio turned out to be equally impressive and we could not be happier. Frank also cleaned and sealed both front and back patios with the "wet look" appearance. We could not be happier and we are the envy of our neighborhood! Thank you Frank!

I was surprised they didn't have time to give me an estimate. We're not planning on scheduling our project until September/October.

We had multiple bids on doing a brick paver driveway, sidewalk to the backyard and a new patio. Owner Frank was competitive in his bid and clearly more informative when we discussed our plans. Frank was very proactive in making suggestions that led to a much more pleasing appearance than we initially envisioned. A seating wall, a separate landing pad for our grill to keep it just off the patio, an area for our garbage bins that did not interfere with our walkway --- these were a few of his suggestions that really improved the overall look and practicality of our project. Once Frank's crew was on the job, they maximized the hours worked each day so they could finish our job in two weeks, exactly what Frank had estimated. They were punctual, professional and very respponsive to questions and suggestions along the way. Friends, family and neighbors continue to compliment us on the attractive appearance of the brick paver-work and how it enhances our home.

I contacted them on 4-4-14 and they replied the same day. We set up an appointment and Frank came out and measured and showed me photos of their previous jobs. I didn't give them the job because the square foot pricing was higher than another quote. Otherwise, I was happy with them.

I found working with Old World Brick Paving to be a fantastic experience. The owner Frank Calistro was professional and informed from the first time I met him. Frank was insistent that I become knowledgeable about paver installations and the trappings and pitfalls to be aware of - and I'm glad he was because once I saw what went into installing a driveway that will maintain its beauty and be trouble free I gained a deep appreciation for the work he does. Frank knew what to be concerned with, and every recommendation he made was dead on. Our driveway is now two years old and its looks like it did the day it was installed (actually, it looks even better, because Frank knew to wait a year to let the bricks "breathe" before applying the sealer that gives the driveway it's "wet" look!). Franks work weathered perfectly the brutal weather we faced last winter and the endless snowplowing that went with it. I can recommend Old World Brick Paving with extreme confidence and enthusiasm. I was even pleasantly surprised by their price - you might be too!

We scheduled an appointment with Old World to come out and provide an estimate for service. The owner came out to take measurements, discuss details and stone options on a Saturday morning in April. The process was smooth and he was professional and friendly to deal with. Due to weather, the job wasn't able to start for a few weeks. We provided a 1/3rd deposit at contract signing and handled the permit process with the Village, while Old World ensured they were registered to do business. The owner called a couple of weeks later indicating they were ready to start excavation work. If you are a prospectively client, make sure you are home the day work begins to discuss project details to ensure good communication and expectations - avoid surprises. The aggregate base was completed in two days and was allowed to settle for two weeks. Given our project was one of the first of the season, the stone we ordered wasn't ready from the manufacturer. First time customers/homeowners, ask about the availability/timing of your stone choice before work begins. The stone install took one day (approximately size: 400 square feet). The crew did a good job keeping the site orderly and picked up after they were finished. The finished product exceeded our expectations.

I am happy with them and I am still reviewing them. The employee was really good.

Frank was quick to respond to our quote request. Came out and gave us a great estimate and the job was done to perfection and in a timely fashion. We love our new patio!

I submitted a contact request on their website, within 4 hours, Frank responded by calling the number that I listed. Frank was very professional however he was not able to provide me services because I was outside his area. He instead refered me to a more local supplier in order to locate a proper contractor.

He was excellent. He came on time and made some recommendations. He was knowledgeable and tried to talk me through the different options that I had to meet the repairs.

Greg's punctuality and responsiveness were greatly appreciated. From coming out to estimate, and keeping me informed of anticipated start dates, all went better than expected. Although this was probably one of OWBP's smaller jobs, I was treated like it was the most important job they had. Greg explained in great detail exactly how the repairs would be made. It is important to note that OWBP standards meet or exceed the recommended manufacturer installation standards. The repair work looks great, and the new seat wall was integrated into our existing paver patio seamlessly.

The estimate was very fair but it was more than we wanted to spend right now. Everything was fine. They were very professional, they got back to us one time, they kept appointments. They were fine.

Frank was patient throughout the quote process. We requested our original quote in May and had him out 2x to review the proposal and answer questions. Able to easily reach him on his cell phone to discuss the project. Work was completed in October, a few weeks after we accepted the bid. The quality of the job was better than I expected. Very satisfied with the job. Specifically requested that all corners be rounded and his team did an excellent job with the corners and the curves in the walkway. Materials that he used are better than what our landscaper quoted. The end price was probably about $2000 higher than our landscape quote but in the end feel that the work that his team did resulted in superior results. Would not hesitate to use Old World again.

The work started on time, and the crew was here every day until the job was completed. This job consisted of a lot of digging, cutting, pounding and hauling away of old concrete and stone. The crew left the site swept up and neat every night. All the work was done to our specifications...and beyond. The final results are even better than we could have imagined. We are thrilled with the new curb appeal these pavers have added to our corner home. We used Old World Brick Paving in the past to beautify our patio and the area by our front and back entrances. It just keeps getting better!

Our experience with OWBP was great. We selected them due to their great reputation on AL and also the responsiveness of Greg, the salesperson. Greg came to our house with samples and helped us pick out the materials for our patio. Work was expected to start early September but due to the dry weather it started mid-August. Workers showed up on time and were very friendly. Frank the owner arrived the first day to make sure the project commenced smoothly. There was an appreciable attention to detail and the crew did a good job of following our blueprint making the end result just what we wanted. Spare brick was left behind for any future needs. Greg visited upon completion of the patio to inspect and make sure we were satisfied. The price is justified by the quality OWBP brings. We would recommend OWBP to anyone thinking about a hardscape project.

Old World responded promptly to inquiry for cleaning and sealing a 20 year old patio. They provided a detailed estimate and explained services to be provided as well as alternative methods used by others. Old World was selected in part because they could provide the services the next week before the weather turned too cool. The workmen were very professional and the result is a beautiful patio like new. Would higly recommend.

The crew that showed up did a fantastic job and the work looks great. We hardly knew they were there -- they were fast and cleaned up behind themselves. Highly recommend them.

Frank C. was attentive, thorough, and asked pertinent questions when he evaluated our situation. He seemed interested in being sure of what to recommend and that he offered us a plausible proposal with a good solution. Frank was appropriately congenial and professional in his demeanor, appearance, and conversation in the process. Typically he answered his own phone and was responsive to e-mails and phone calls from us in a timely fashion. His proposal and quote for the work was substantial, but acceptable when we compared it to estimates received from companies only able to do the courtyard repairs but not the wall. He gained our business through his own actions plus excellent reviews from Angie's List. It was good to find one company that could do both parts vs trying to coordinate two companies. The excavation had to be done on the wall next to our over-size patio door plus 4 windows; nothing was cracked or broken in the repair process. The foundation cracks repaired turned out to be 5 vs the anticipated 3. Frank found 2 problems caused by incorrect work by the original builder and these were fixed. Frank's crew had to dig down 8ft to accomplish the repairs needed. His crew was courteous and were hard workers. Only time will tell the complete story, but Frank's photos of the work plus John's observation and interactions with Frank and the crew as it took place make it look as if Old World Pavers did well by us. Frank and his crew were extremely responsive, prompt and professional. He gave us fantastic suggestions that totally transformed the look of our home. The crew was very polite, friendly and meticulous in their work. All seemed to take great pride in their product. We are very happy we chose Old World.

Frank was very professional during the quote process. He was incredibly knowledgeable and I had done some research on Angie's prior to calling him to come out for an estimate so, I felt comfortable moving forward at our first visit with the project. I was pleased that after they came to do the work, the estimated time for repair was acceptable so, in other words, he accurately assigned the man hours to do the repairs within the scope of the quote and didn't hit me up later for additional hours. I've experience situations where they tell you 4 hours and it turns out being 8 hours. The team members that did the work were friendly and considerate when moving my outdoor furniture, grill, etc. When relaying areas of the bricks they took care and used precision to keep my design and to be sure everything was level. Once the seal was completed the walls were a beautiful beige (versus washed out white) and the bricks which had beige and reds, etc. became so much more vibrant. The original owners of the home we purchased late fall/early winter had never resealed or maintained the patio and some normal settling occured over time so, I wasn't sure how it would turn out. But, it looks really beautiful. Additionally, we've had a lot of rain and in just a single spot some of the sand washed out, Frank personally, came out and filled it in for me and then followed up via email to confirm it was satisfactory. Basically, that says to me, they stand by their work. Overall, very happy with the patio and with Olde World!

This project went very well. We are extremely happy and satisfied with all of the work that was done. Our previous patio built by a different contractor only four years ago was a complete disaster. Frank from Old World Brick Paving came to our house as soon as we contacted him and gave us a complete review of what must be done to repair our situation. We received a detailed drawing and quote in a short amount of time which addressed all of our needs. The price quote was reasonable compared to others we had received. After extensive research and background checks we felt very confident in Frank and ask him to begin the job. The work began on the agreed upon date. His crew was very professional and knowledgable. Once they began work they made steady progress and always kept the work area as clean as possible. The project was completed to our satisfaction within the agreed upon time frame. We would not hesitate to recommend Old World Brick Paving. After our experience with another contractor we knew we had to find someone we could trust and that would stand behind their work. We found the other bids came from contractors that did landscaping as well as hardscape. We liked the fact that this company only dealt in hardscape. This is not a side job for them. It is their area of expertise. Our new patio is absolutely beautiful! We were amazed at the quality of construction. They used only high quality materials and the workmanship was exceptional. We had a brick paver patio that gave us issues for years. Constant heaving and sagging. We decided to completely replace the patio including the step at the base of the patio door. The step had also been problematic over the years. We called Old World Brick Paving and spoke to Frank. He accommodated our schedule for an estimate and called ahead to let us know that he was on his way. He showed up on time and was extremely professional. During the estimate of the project, Frank explained pros and cons for what we wanted to do and even helped guide us on the best materials to go with both from a durability and aesthetic stand-point. We decided to go with Old World after reviewing three different estimates. They weren't the cheapest nor the most expensive. The crew was great. They worked all day every day and did an incredibly professional job. The patio turned out beautiful. The pattern looks fantastic and the fit and finish is perfect. We are very happy with the patio and actually look forward to using it at every opportunity. Absolutely happy that we went with Old World. We appreciated their responsiveness, professionalism and honesty.
