Daniel came out to look at some leaks we have in our commercial building and recommended patching and some other work that he thought necessary to stop current and future leaks. He was very prompt and quick after my initial call and to schedule the work. He said it is sometimes difficult to find the leaks on the first try because the water sometimes travels a distance before coming in. He indicated that they may need to come out a couple of times to fix the problem. He asked for full payment of $2226 after the service was performed the first time which sounded high to me, but I needed to get these leaks fixed for tenants. They did the work and a couple weeks later with a heavy rain, we still had a few leaks. I called Daniel a total of 4 times to try and schedule them to come back out. The first time he told me he would look at the schedule and get back to me with an opening. After 2 days and no call, I called again and left a message. No return call and have left to more voice messages with no return call back. I guess once he has payment, they are not interested in coming back to finish the job as promised.

They were good. I think that we just had a problem with scheduling. After we were able to reschedule it. It was all good. In the end they did everything right. I would use them again.

They were really good. They were nice enough to honor the deal from the Angie's List website.

Magdan was very good at getting the business. They dealt with the insurance company and was able to identify items the adjuster was not able to. After getting approval for the work, we decided to go with Magdan. Multiple times they promised to start but kept delaying. After about a month and a half they finally began work. It took longer than expected since they would leave for days at a time. They would leave the platforms unattended for days. When they did come and were working they were efficient. After a majority of work was completed, they began asking for the payment. Reluctantly, I did give them the payment with their word that the work would be completed in a timely manner. That was 7 months ago. Since then I have had drafts in the doors they installed due to poor installation and insulation. I have not received a door as of yet which was promised 7 months ago. These door issues resulted in higher heating costs this past winter and I assume will result in higher cooling cost this summer. I also have a major issue with the installation of the downspouts which is resulting in foundation issues which can lead to a major repair. I have been promised multiple times someone would complete the work with no result. The roofing and siding work are adequate and seem to be in good shape. I hope it stays that way since I am not sure if they would come back to repair it. It is the after sales service is what separates good and bad companies. If you decide to use this company, I would withhold payment until everything is completed and to your satisfaction. A good idea would be a holdback for a certain number of days (90) until you can see if everything is working the way it is supposed to.

I called them and made an appointment, and they didn't show up. They did realize their mistake and call me before forcing me to follow up with them. They rescheduled. But, then, they either came out and did the repair when I wasn't home. Or else, they never did come out. The gutter looks like it's been fixed. But, it's very high up and at an odd angle from the upper story windows -- so I can't be sure by looking at it. In either case, as a new homeowner, I very much prefer to talk to the contractors I have around, to try to learn a thing or two about my house. And as a customer of any type, I like to get a receipt for work performed.

This is the third time I've called Magdan Home Improvement to fix a roof another incompetent roofing company put on (NEVER use Allendorfer Roofing!). The other roofing company did a tear off and put a new roof up without flashing. I have had multiple leaks and Magdan has fixed all of them. Daniel Is wonderful, he comes out quickly and is very professional. He explains the problem, and solution in detail. He even met with Brian Allendorfer and they both examined the roof, and Allendorfer admitted the roof was not done correctly. Daniel's crew were all excellent and took their time to do a good job. They always clean up so you never knew they were there. The price was very reasonable for all the work they did this time, and the past two times. I HIGHLY recommend Magdan Home Improvement for any roofing problem. I wish I knew about them before I got my roof done.

I am very happy with the work they did and will call them back for future work. We own a brick house and water was getting into the brick by the chimney. We needed a chimney cap and flashing around the chimney. We also needed flashing around the two plumbing vent pipes on the roof. They did the job in about 3 hours. I feel they did the job right. I called 8 different contractors before going with Magdan Home Improvement. Most companies wanted to do the whole roof instead of the work I needed. Magdan did the work that was needed and explained everything before and after the work was done. The only criticism I have is their responsiveness. I felt I had to chase them down a bit. They were a no-show for the first meeting, and after I got the proposal they didn't return my calls or emails right away. Overall, I am very satisfied and will call them again.

Contacted them. They came out. I described the job. Voila did the work just like they said.

These guys are fantastic. We'd hired them once before for a very complex job of figuring out and then repairing a roof leak on the top floor (4 stories up) of our condo building, and they were awesome. Now, we needed repair for some coping/edging that had been blown off of our garage roof during a storm. Magdan came out promptly to take a look, and one of the things I love most about them is that they photograph exactly what the problem is, and then they walk us through the photos so that WE can see what's going on (without climbing up on the roof ourselves!). They emailed us the photos, their two proposals, and their plan(s) of action the very same evening. They presented us with two options: 1) a simple repair of the edging/coping AND an explanation of why the original construction (from 7 years ago, by the original builder) wasn't quite adequate. The simple repair would tighten things up, replace the lost parts, and basically bring things up to par. Option 2) a more extensive remove-and-replace plan, to actually tear out the original attachments, flashing, coping, etc and put in place a far more secure system. Option 1 was $425, option 2 was $1600. I would 100% trust Magdan with option 2, but our condo association voted for option 1 since the original construction of the garage really is a bit flimsy to begin with--it seemed like overkill to have them go to such extensive work on what is truly just a garage rooftop. (Again, this is the vote of our condo board. Personally, based on our prior experience with Magdan, I would've wanted to do #1! Anyway.) The guys from Magdan were prompt, clean, efficient, professional, and totally ready for the job. They even tightened up all of the other pieces of coping on the garage roof while they were up there! I absolutely recommend Magdan and will keep their phone number handy for the next time we need repairs!! Fantastic work, guys!

I found the Magdan workers and particularly Dan to be extremely professional. I was extremely impressed by Dan and his patience, attention to detail, and willingness to explain what his workers were going to do. He was freely available for questions and on-site quite a lot during the work. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Magdan after this experience.

I bought a special for $99.00 for them to come and inspect and replace any issues with gutter. I bought this because I knew i had a down spout that was not connected right and when it rained water would pour out the middle instead of flow through. Well they performed work while i was at work and I had to trust that someone came out and looked and repaired anything that was wrong. Well dont ever let work be done while your not there, i still have the same issues with the down spouts this year as last year.

I had a great experience with them. They came out for an estimate to aluminum wrap 4 windows I had replaced. They were out the next business day to do the work. Great job start to finish.

The reason we went with this company were twofold. 1. They do their own work and follow through from estimate to completion. There are no subcontractors, or at least if there were, there was tight supervision, and that is much appreciated. 2. They worked with our insurance company and did all that legwork, and waited patiently for payment, 85% of which was dependent on insurance and mortgage company approval. We chose them because a neighbor did, although there were a lot of folks knocking on our door to fix hail damage. We worked with Dan, who helped us make choices, and oversaw the job with his brother. Weather was the only thing that slowed the job down, and communication was great. I would recommend Magdan to anyone needing siding or roofing.

I had tried numerous times to contact the contractor and left a message each time.. I finally called Angie's List and asked how they could help get in touch with the contractor. he did pick up after Angie's List got in touch with him when i called. I then tried to call again and left a message each time and still nothing. Finally i got in touch with them and scheduled the appointment which they should up 45 minutes late. They were very personable when they did show up. He said he would send an estimate either that day or on monday. I called a couple of weeks later and he sent me the estimate and it didn't show what we had talked about. he said he was going to put gutters on all 4 sides and at most we had only discussed 2 sides. We also discussed painting and that wasn't on their either.

I was advised by a company that replaced my chimney that my roof had suffered severe hail damage and would need to be replaced. I searched Angie's List and found Magdan Home Improvement and made an appointment to have them look at my roof for an estimate. From my first meeting with Daniel, I felt very comfortable with him and asked him to work with my insurance carrier to see about replacing the roof. He met with the adjustor, and they reviewed the entire house on the outside and discovered that not only was the roof damaged, but the siding and gutters as well. The repair estimate was approved by my insurance company and I again met with Daniel to select roofing material and siding and the work began in July 2012. Daniel unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate and between the rain and the high temperatures, the work went slowly- through no fault of Magdan, and was completed in September. Daniel and the workmen were very professional with an eye for detail, as though it was their own home they were working on. They also replaced the front door and a storm window and put in a new attic fan. I have already contacted Daniel to replace some windows in my house this coming spring, and will undoubtedly look to Magdan for any work that needs to be done in the future.

Magdan came out THE SAME DAY I purchased the coupon and made the request, which was surprising given that it was the first day the coupon was published. Very happy with the punctuality, work product, and price. Will definitely use again should the need arise.

Took too many calls to get a call back. When I did no one showed up. I got the impression they either didn't care to have my business or were just not competent. Either way I will never call them again, for anything. The above date is an estimate. It was sometime late spring-early summer. I've moved on and really don't want to go back to this negative experience.

During one of last summer's storms, a large tree branch crashed on our roof. It tore off most of the gutter on the west side, along with some of the wood overhang. I called Magdan Home Improvement in Schiller Park, IL, an Angie's List company that had done a nice job of patching a leak in our roof a year earlier. Adrian took my message and said they'd be happy to give us an estimate on repairs. But he suggested that since there was no leaking this time we should first set a date for the insurance adjuster to come out and then give them a heads up. Their man would then come out and survey the damage with the adjuster. We did that. When the adjuster said he was on his way, I called Magdan and Daniel was here five minutes ahead of him. After we briefly discussed the cause of the damage, the two of them went out together and surveyed the damage from below and then up on the roof. When they came inside, they informed my wife and me that besides the gutter damage it appeared we had hail damage to the roof from this or some other storm(s). Having determined that, they checked our unattached garage and found its roof also had hail damage. I dreaded what we were about to hear, thinking that our insurance might not cover hail damage. But to my great relief they told us they had agreed the insurance would pay for both the gutter repair and a new roof on both the house and the garage. For reasons I did not quite grasp (but was not about to question), they said Magdan would replace not just the damaged gutter but the entire gutter works all around the house. Our insurance would cover most of the cost, less our deductible and a depreciation amount based on the current roof's age. Daniel knew the routine and gave us a detailed estimate of what they would do. The insurance would come in two payments, approximately half up front and the balance upon completion. Daniel asked for a deposit of half the cost, but said we should pay him only when the first check arrived so that we would not have to make a withdrawal from our personal funds. The actual repairs would start when the claim was approved and the first check came through. When that was a bit slow in happening (there had been a lot of claims after the storm), Daniel took it upon himself to follow up with the insurance people for us and a check arrived soon thereafter. The Magdan crew arrived early in the morning and worked through the day with only a short lunch break in the shade of a tree. Instead of bringing a dumpster to collect debris (which could damage our driveway), they had an open bed trailer on four wheels backed in behind a pickup truck. Workers were able to toss ripped off shingles into the trailer from the roof. It took two days to complete the reroofing of both house and garage, and they did a good job of cleaning up after. We later found only a few small scraps of shingle in the lawn around the house. The following week a 2-man team came to replace the gutters and completed the work in one day, again doing a thorough clean-up It was several weeks before Daniel came by for the final payment. He first walked around with me to make sure that everything was satisfactory. He also noted that the shingles used were a higher quality than what had been common a few years ago. Rather than a 15 year guarantee as had been the norm, these have a 30 year guarantee. I told him that barring any further storm damage, the roof should still be intact when I am gone. All in all, we were very pleased with both the work done and the attention to customer satisfaction of Adrian, Daniel and all the workers. I would most definitely use Magdan again and recommend them to anyone in the area in need of roofing repairs or replacement.

Well didnt go good at all, at first I was crazy about this company they replaced gutters at our house to the tune of at least 2100.00 Dan never gave us a gas gift card they promised us,but that still wanted they're services I needed repairs on the gutters at the other house where I have my Aunt stays shes 67 yrs old they leak at the corners and the sidewalk gets icy. Around the third week of September I called Dan to ask him to see what he could do about the house,and call me to let me know what you could do waited about a week didn't hear from him called again he apologized for not getting a chance to get there said he would get there beginning of next week well he did the gutters needed minor repairs he told he would get to it the following week i said i needed done cause I would be gone for two weeks and just send me a bill.Called him at the end of the week he said he would get to it well I have to go out of town now called him asking why it was not done said he would send somebody there to work on it again apologizing didn't hear anything called him again asking him did he want to do the job or not(now this guy is wasting my time) I said I didn't want to give a bad review then it was like the parting of the red sea he said oh ill send somebody even if i have to do it myself well nobody came not even Dan this was at least 6 weeks of b.s. wasting time oh he"s a smooth talker,but as far as being reliable forget it called him never returned calls he was screening calls i think, the gutters were good you see just needed minor repairs it was not in his interest financally to do it thats what I think you do the math

We are very satisfied with Magdan and will call on them in the future if we have any work they can do.

We were very pleased with the result. The company is a family business managed by 3 brothers. They are hard workers, proud of a job well done and very knowledgeable. They were agreable to deal with. I interviewed 6 different companies and Magdan was by far the best. At our first meeting we knew we had found the right contractor. They gave us good advices and were patient with our numerous requests.They use their own workers and equipment and do not sub-contract their work . I will recommend them to anyone.

Perfect. I called them, they stopped by and evaluated the work, and then did the work without me needing to be home.

Since we had purchased a Big Deal coupon, we did not initially solicit any other estimates for the relatively minor gutter repairs that needed to be done; one corner of our gutters was leaking. The Magdan rep, Daniel, met with us and checked our gutters. He first explained that the corner that was leaking was a custom gutter so it could cost more to order and replace it. But he agreed to check it out since it could perhaps be repaired with caulk. He proceeded to examine the gutters and told us that the gutters would need to be cleaned before he could fully assess the extent of the repairs. He promised to send an estimate for the repairs which he eventually did. We were very surprised by the estimate for a total of $1,100.00 and it stated for "gutter cleaning--clean all the gutter and downspouts" and "once the gutters are clean they will be caulk at all seams from the inside of the gutter." I called Daniel to ask him to explain the high estimate; he mentioned that some nails may need to be replaced. At this point, we decided to get another estimate and we were able to have the gutters cleaned, checked and caulked for a total of $300.00. I called Daniel again and told him what had happened and asked for a refund. He immediately and politely explained that all I had to do was call Angie's List and a refund would be issued, so I placed that call.
