Forest Concrete

I was pleased that Forest Concrete could get the work done quickly because we wanted our laundry room back. $300 seemed fair, I like to go with local contractors, and there was a positive review here, so I went with it. If I had been grading on work alone, I would have given a B or C. It's fine. To be fair, I was not expecting a flawless basement floor - Forest Concrete warned me that if they just did a fill-in, it would not be flush with the adjoining floor. I opted to avoid the work that a smooth floor would have required, because apparently it would have involved lots of sawing, leading to lots of dust, and our boiler and water heater are in this room, and it is not a room that needs to look nice. That said, the final job is simply okay - there are a few places where the new concrete does not even meet the old, and it does not seem that much effort was made to smooth things out. Our plumber had advised us to get a concrete guy because he did not think he could do such a big job neatly himself. When he saw the work afterward, he said "Well, I could have done that myself!" So, I guess that sums that up. Here is why I gave a D grade: When my husband went to put out the recycling the next morning, he discovered a big mess of poured concrete dumped into the bin. They simply dumped the excess, wet concrete into our recycling bin! Sheesh, I would have been happy to provide a bag or a box or something if it was really too much trouble to take it back out with them. When something like that happens, you start to wonder what other short-cuts a contractor took during the work that you don't know about. When my husband called, they were not overly apologetic, but did offer to come out at some point and clean out the concrete. However, our plumbers were back that day to finish their work, and they kindly cleaned out the can for us. UPDATE 1/12: More plumbing work to be done in the basement. This plumber patches concrete. He said he isn't an expert, but he noted that his work will certainly look better than the patch that's there - the one done by Forest Concrete. So, I lowered the quality grade to a D.

It is a long walk running along the whole length of my house. He pitched it so that the water would run away from the home. He devised a very neat system to capture the water from downspout so that it would run underground. He thought outside the box and I really appreciated the solution.
