They finished painting my basement in 1 day (10 hours)! They were efficient and did a great job.

We are extremely pleased with the work don by Tom. Personally he is friendly, professional, trustworthy, and a very nice person. He was reliable and prompt and all the workers he employed were also competent and friendly. We have cedar siding on our house. He removed the old stain with a chemical wash after protecting all of the windows. He then power washed the house and deck and power sanded everything for several days. He was open to discussing the various colors we used on the house (trim, deck, window boxes) as well as obtaining samples and exploring stains for us in trying to find suitable colors. He painted shutters and all window grates, as well as the outside windows of our screen porch. He also did some minor carpentry repairs on our deck and stained and put up new window boxes. It looks like a new house and we will definitely call on Tom for the maintenance it will need and any future painting needs we have. Tom's estimate was almost half that of another company we liked. He was not the least expensive, but was, in fact, in the middle range. I would say, however, that his work was in the top tier and we are exceptionally pleased with the results.

Tom was very responsive. Everything was done efficiently, looks good, and was cleaned up. I would absolutely use him again. One thing I wish people with paint jobs would revisit a few years later: How did the paint hold up? Especially exterior paint. Tom gave me a 1 year warrantee (when I asked). A painter with a much higher price gave a 4 year warrantee.

I have never had such great service done by anyone. He was a delight to work with. Him and his crew were on time worked the whole day, were knowledgeable and very professional. I cannot say enough good about them. It was worth every cent and more. I would recommend him to everyone! Thank you Angie's List for his name. I will be using him in the future.

It went extremely well. Tom came out to both locations to give me an estimate, which turned out to be the final cost of the whole job. He and his crew completed the painting at the house in one day. The condo, which was a much larger job, was done in 3 days. Tom and his crew did an excellent job. The paint job in both locations turned out extremely well. The repairs to the walls are not visible at all. Tom takes great pride in his work, I would recommend him to anyone.

From the first phone call, Tom was very responsive, returning phone calls quickly and following through. He was professional and knowledgeable. They followed lead paint protocols carefully, which included hand scraping of every wood shake on the entire house, and safe disposal. They were thorough and worked long days, and a Saturday, in order to be able to finish the house during good weather before winter. Primer and top coats were hand-brushed to give the best finish for the old wood shakes. Tom was flexible and cheerful when a few minor last-minute color changes were made. I was pleased with the overall job, price, and timely completion

We saw excellent reviews on Tom the Painter here on Angie's List and thought we'd include him when getting estimates for painting our home's exterior. He offered the best price and because of the excellent reviews we found on Tom here, we thought, "why not use him?" We were delighted! His crew arrived on time and Tom constantly checked with us to make sure we were happy with how the project was going. He always had a smile and our home never looked better. Our thanks to Tom, and of course the other Angie's List members who recommended him!!

I tried to contact this provider last fall initially and left a message that was never returned. I called again a few weeks ago and left another message that was never returned. I refuse to chase service providers and I'm surprised this one has a good rating as the lack of responsiveness can't help the business.

They did A+ work, they were excellent. I felt the price was very reasonable. We had to wait a week or two to get the work done but that was an acceptable amount of time. We would be delighted to work with them again.

Tom's work was was top-notch - immaculate, even finish on the stain - everything looks great. Throughout the process, Tom was prompt and communicative - something I really value and that is sometimes hard to find. Finally, I thought the price was very reasonable. I would definitely hire Tom again for painting services.

WHY DID I CHOOSE HIM? I got estimates from 3 different vendors initially and Tom's proposal was on the more expensive end of the range of bids, but where Tom really differentiated himself from the others was with his punctuality, organization, and communication. He was the ONLY contractor to show up on time when they said they would come for the estimate. He was the ONLY contractor to write up a bid estimate and email it to me promptly the next day as he said he would. I had to remind the other contractors to send me their estimates and they were negligent in returning phone calls. He also explained the process for restoring the deck and provided good details around the craftsmanship, attention to detail, and the oil stain product they were going to use. THEIR EXECUTION: He and his team fit us in last-minute last weekend when he was fully booked for this month. He emailed me the night before saying that he can bring his team over to power wash our deck on a Saturday starting at 8am. They arrived right at 8am. They did a thorough power wash with chemical treatment and left to come back 4 days later on Wednesday at 8am. They arrived at 8am sharp! With a team of 5 (including Tom), they started sanding down and nailing down loose boards for most of the morning. His whole team, btw, was very polite and friendly and did not even use our washrooms even when we offered b/c they feared tracking paint into our house. They spent the rest of the afternoon staining all our railings, spindles, and beams and then finally staining our deck boards. They then applied another coat of stain and touched up the railings and beams where they needed to be. When I spotted one paint dribble (and really only one!) on the backside of a spindle, Tom touched it up himself. They packed up all their tarps and materials and didn't leave any spills or other dribbles anywhere. Even the flakes of white paint on the grass, Tom told me about in advance. THE VERDICT: Our deck looks fantastic! It looks better than it ever has since we've moved in and time will be the true test now on its durability. Tom was so pleasant to communicate and negotiate with that the whole process was not at all stressful (as it sometimes is with contractors who are good at their craft but not their business). I'm so pleased with working with them that I would consider them for a future house exterior painting project. Tom and his team are true to the high quality described in this and other reviews on this site. I highly recommend his team! Thanks Tom!!

Tom and the crew were prompt and worked very hard every day even in bad weather. They were very courteous and took care to cover anything that needed to be protected during their work. Tom is a true professional and we won't hesitate to use him again for future projects.

My deck needed power washing, sanding and re-staining. Tom and his team did an outstanding job of describing options to me and performing the work in a very short time frame as I was preparing the house to be put on the market. I have already recommended Tom to several of my friends. I'd use him again with no hesitation.

Great experience overall. Tom's initial response to my request was prompt and we scheduled time for a sight visit where we discussed the work request. On the day of painting Tom and crew arrived on time and quickly went to work. Tom's brother, a carpenter, helped out hanging some new shutters. Tom and his crew removed the deck furniture, gas grill and large pots off the deck before power washing. When they came back to stain and seal the decks, they removed 2 cedar trellises attached to one of the decks, painted them separately, and reinstalled them when finished. They're very professional, work hard and do a great job.

He quoted a great price but we ended up choosing another vendor because they had more references and a web site showing their previous work. Tom was courteous and professional and I?m pretty sure he would have done a great job if he had hired him.

I usually don't take time to write reviews but wanted to take a moment to promote Tom the Painter. My relationship with Tom is at least four years now. He has completed deck power washing and staining/sealing, exterior painting of my home including caulking, masonry sealing/waterproofing (3 stories high) and most recently interior painting and some drywall repair. My first communication with Tom started through an inquiry on Angie's List to which he immediately responded. When communicating or coordinating with Tom I suggest doing it electronically via email as Tom is hands on during the work day. He actually works with his crews and may often be in situations during the day that prevent him from taking a call. He has always responded to me in a timely fashion. If you want to work with a firm that always has someone answering the phone and provides immediate response, use a larger, commercial company. Tom's pricing is competitive. I've found that he's not the cheapest painter but he provides me the best overall value. He and his crews show up when he says they will be there, he performs the scope that he promises on the front end, he identifies and communicates potential problems early in the process, properly protects the work area with tarps or plastic, cleans up, uses the proper equipment for the job at hand, addresses punch list items in a timely manner and he and his crews conduct themselves professionally. He includes all the paint and other materials in his pricing to me. All I have to do is let him know colors. Overall, I am extremely happy with Tom's work and will consider him for all my future painting projects.

Tom was very prompt in providing an estimate for the power washing, sanding and staining my deck and porch exterior. He explained each step, answered all my questions and was very helpful in selecting the stain that was used. He and his crew were on time, professional and quick. They were careful to cover plants, flowers and surfaces near the deck so that they were not damaged. They did a beautiful job. We couldn't be more pleased with the result. Will definitely use again.

Tom is very professional and has high quality standards for his work and the paint/stain products he uses. He arrived punctually for the initial appointment to see the work needed, and emailed a detailed, concise quote the next day. We weren't staying with the same stain color, so he stopped by later with sample stain colors on the same type of wood as our deck. I was worried about changing from a dark brown to a cedar color but it came out beautifully. The screen porch work was very nicely done as well. We needed a color match for a portion of the paint work, and he advised the best stores to handle the color match. This summer was challenging due to lots of rainy days, but Tom and his crew were able to work around the weather and complete the job in a timely manner.
