Master Bathroom Remodel was completed as promised in a high quality professional manner. Karl did an excellent job communicating and overseeing the job. Karl and Thomas both assisted with this transformation and did a terrific job. We absolutely love the new bathroom! A month or so after the completion of the project there was a minor issue and Karl quickly returned to our home and fixed at no additional charge. I was especially pleased to see how Karl stood behind their work and quickly came out and corrected the issue. This is a top notch run organization that is trustworthy, honest, and ethical. This is the second time I have used CLB and they have done a great job for me on both occasions. Thank you Karl and Thomas!

As with any remodeling project, there were a few surprises along the way. We learned that the studs behind my walls had rusted out from previous water damage, and the pipes used by the prior owner were not up to code. We had to replace all of the pipes and drywall, which was an unanticipated expense. Next, we had 2 "floods" - one from a problem with the nearby washing machine and another when the exposed pipes broke after a mirror fell on them. In spite of the chaos and difficulties of the job, Karl and Tom were very professional and worked through the problems with me. They came over when problems arose and were really great to work with. Karl was also incredibly fair about pricing even though the job held a few surprises for both of us! Most importantly, I LOVE my new bathroom. It looks gorgeous and they both gave me a lot of good design ideas.

Outstanding. I couldn't be more pleased. Karl came to my place to give me an estimate - I thought it was very fair, but the main reason I decided to hire him was because he clearly knew what he was talking about. He had some good design suggestions but never forced his opinion on me. He was able to start the job within a week or so of that first meeting. Not only were Karl and his assistant Tom absolute professionals (and genuinely nice guys), they consistently went above and beyond to make sure that I was happy with the work and really listened to what I wanted. For example, a few days after they started the job, when Karl picked up the tile that I had chosen and ordered on my own, I think he could tell that I was a little disappointed with the color of that particular lot. I was willing to live with the 1x1 tumbled marble for the shower even though it was a really, really light green (much lighter than the sample I'd been given at the store). But when he went to pick up the 3x6 tiles for the bathroom wall, he must have realized that I definitely wouldn't be happy with the color because he called me from the warehouse to tell me it was nearly white (rather than green). He suggested meeting me at my place to look at a sample of the tile. He was right - I wasn't happy with it. So he offered to take all of the tile back to the warehouse and pick up new lots that matched the color I wanted more closely. That was fairly typical of the whole project - he would check in with me regularly to make sure that they were doing what I wanted and we would discuss options as they came up. The whole project (redoing the entire bathroom, putting in the kitchen backsplash and fixing the electrical issues there, etc.) probably took about 11-12 working days (very close to his original estimate). By the way, the reason that the final amount I paid Karl was more than the estimate was mainly because I asked him to do some additional work and because I had the opportunity to enlarge the shower space. To be clear, $9000 was the approximate cost of labor, supplies, etc. paid to CLB - I'm not including the cost of the tile, the vanity and new hardware, medicine cabinets, etc. All together, I spent around $19,000 redoing the bathroom and doing the more limited work in the kitchen. Karl and Tom also cleaned up very carefully at the end of the project! Bottom line: I had a master bathroom that I absolutely hated when I bought my place a year and a half ago. It was drab, dark, and had the weird feature of a double vanity without a double sink. Now I have a beautiful, bright bathroom and a roomy shower - a space that feels relaxing and inviting.

These were not contractors they were craftsman the work was exceptionally done. They got the tile to line up exactly with the faucet. I thought it was amazing. It was well done and done professionally.

Karl and his helper did a wonderful job. He even suggested a different way to lay the tile which looked much nicer than had it been laid in a straight pattern. He sealed the grouting which did not happen when we used another contractor several years ago. I am extremely pleased with his work.

He was a very nice gentleman, but I found the prices to be outrageous and chose to do the work myself.

Karl showed up to give us a quote on time and was very thorough on his first visit. He asked questions and made suggestions as to what he thought would be the best approach to the work we wanted done. He offered design ideas and even shared an idea that he did at a recent job in regards to the subway tile design. He also gave us a list of tile stores he works with and suggested where to get our tile. Two days later we had a quote and it was on par with 3 other quotes we received, but we decided to go with Karl because of his initial attention to detail, his obvious dedication to getting the job done right, and his willingness to offer advice/assistance to help us make the best design decisions. Before the job started, I changed my mind twice on what I wanted done and Karl was understanding and re-quoted me for different options that I wanted to add. He also picked up all of my tile for me. Karl and Tom showed up at 7:00 am sharp as they promised on day 1 (and every other day following) and began work immediately. They were extremely sensitive to keeping the place clean and very organized. We had several 'extra' requests (several trips to the hardware store) that they happily completed as part of the job with no questions asked. They finished the job 1 full day ahead of schedule and everything was completed to our expectations. One day after the job was completed, we noticed some grout lines that had been sunken and after calling Karl, he was there 2 hours later to fix the issues! Outstanding service! We will definitely consider using CLB Tile for our next bathroom project!

Karl (CLB owner) was very good about returning calls and generally punctual about appointments. The quality of the tile installation itself was very good. However, Karl did not go to the tile store to see the floor pattern we wanted, did not spend any time discussing pattern options with us and did not attempt to mimic our previous pattern in any way after I asked if they could match it (or follow up with questions to clarify if he understood what we wanted -- the pattern of the floor in the tile store was similar to ours, but used larger tiles). The floor we wanted had the tiles arranged in an irregular pattern, but the floor we got was laid out in straight lines, and reminds me of a shopping mall floor. During the installation, they ran out of tile of the proper size, and had to go the warehouse to get more, but did so quickly and without complaint. Karl did offer to reduce the price of the work for us since it wasn't what we wanted, but that wouldn't change the floor into what I had requested and I would have felt constrained about the review I would be giving so we paid the full price. I think this was a learning experience for both Karl and myself. I should have asked for a drawing of the floor pattern he was going to use (although I didn't think this necessary since I had asked him to use the same floor pattern as was used at the tile store, and he said he'd seen it -- it turns out what he had seen was a free-hand drawing of a 4-tile section FAXED to him from the tile store). For his part, I hope Karl learned to ask enough questions to make sure he knows what the customer wants before he starts the work and to actually see what a customer wants when told about an example (or let the customer know that he needs further clarification).

This is the first time that I saw a remodeling project go smoothly!

Karl did a fantastic job with my complicated tile pattern. He was punctual, hard working and cleaned up after himself. The price was very fair. I couldn't have asked for more.

We selected another company only because it turned out that we know someone else who had worked with the other company and they were pleased with the work. However, I would feel comfortable using CLB Tile if for some reason the other company doesn't work out.

He offered a really good estimate. He got the job done in the amount of time that he said he would. He was responsible and polite. He showed up to the job everyday on time. They did a good job in matching up the tile to what I wanted.

Karl was a godsend. After having a contractor disappear with a deposit for a master bath remodel, Karl agreed to do the job for a much more reasonable amount and did not ask for a deposit. His tile work was so beautiful that we had him re-grout the floor in our other bathroom. He also installed the new sinks and toilets in both our bathrooms. He takes pride in his work and we would use him again in a heartbeat.

The bathrooms look absolutely gorgeous. His work was superb I wanted to include photos but can't get that to work, unfortunately. Karl came the next day after I called him to offer an estimate. He was prompt to the estimate and had a book showing his past work. He was willing to work on my time frame which was limited. Karl had the idea of tiling all the way to the ceiling on the surround which is stunning. Moreover, he was quite kind about a mishap where my child somehow (!!) stepped on the newly leveled cement subfloor. And, he also was willing to rush the first bathroom in order to get it ready for a house showing. He came early and worked on a Saturday to make that happen. He did cancel one morning last minute and left early one day for family medical issues but apologized and stated this has never happened before. Overall, I recommend that you hire this company. You will be pleased with the work.

Karl did an incredible job. The work took about 4 days total. He was extremely clean and picked up after himself and layed down plastic in the hallway and work area. I was not home when Karl performed his work so I gave him my key. I fully trust Karl and his reputation. I picked Karl out of all the others on Angies list because of the other comments. I didn't bother with anyone else. Karl was kind and explained everything he did. We will be using Karl again for our other bathroom in a few months. We are very pleased.

It went well. Karl was very responsive both via email and in coming to the house to measure, give an estimate and to show us samples of some tile he had. He gave us the names of some tile suppliers, and we set up work for just a week later. He was very prompt both days he came, and did a very nice job. He suggested a staggered layout to the tile, which really added a lot. He cleaned up after himself, and reinstalled the toilet (we had him wait on the pedestal sink since we were having more work done).

Karl installed the tile (both ceramic and granite) in our bathroom (an addition). We had him tile a shower, the floor and the deck and walls around our tub. In the shower, he removed the existing du-rock, and poured a cement base, and then re-installed the du-rock, and tiled the floor and the walls. After he finished the tile work, he installed a frameless shower door, including providing a great reference where I could obtain the trim around this door (which had been taken out of a tear-down and recycled into our home). He responded to all calls and came back out to do a minor adjustment in a timely way to facilitate the other plumbing that was needed. In addition, Karl is very polite and was not pushy about the work, the money, etc.

From the time, Karl came to diagnose the problem, we saw a big difference between his meticulous style of working as opposed to couple of others who gave us an estimate. He wanted to detect the problem by removing the toilet bowl before he gave us the estimate while the other contractors assumed it was water leak & gave us an estimate!! Karl said that he could start the work the next day! He also explained everything & was one of the friendliest contractor we have worked with in the last two years. He came three times since he had to let the floor get dry before he could put the tiles back! He picked up all the debris & made sure that he did not make a mess. Overall, it was one of the best experiences we had with any contractor!

He told us that we could do something ourselves other than taking down all of the tile and redoing it. I did ask for an estimate if we decided to take it all down and re-tile, and he gave me one. He seemed very knowledgeable and honest. I would go with him if I did need the work done.

Karl gave us a quote the same day we called him. He was hands down the most reliable, professional, conscientious contractor/installer we have ever had the pleasure of working with. He showed up at 8 am everyday, if he needed to run out to get supplies, he always let us know first. When the tile we ordered from a local store came up short a few boxes, and the store could not get additional tile for a week, he went with my husband to assist in picking out brand new tile for the job based on what another store had in stock. When Karl's plumber was on site, a pipe broke in our house unrelated to the tile job. Karl immediately came back out to our house (at 6:30 pm no less) to help. They fixed the pipe, patched the wall, and assisted in cleaning up the water. They did all of this WITHOUT charging us additional fees. A few days after the job was done, we noticed that the water the bath was pulling wasn't as hot as it used to be. Karl returned and adjusted the mix.

Karl was personable and professional. He arrived on time, worked fast and cleaned up after himself. Highly recommended.

Karl showed up to give me a quote on the same day I called him. After he promised me a quote by the next afternoon, it showed up on my fax machine just 3 hours later. His quote was the most thorough and least expensive of 4 quotes I received on the work. Once hired for the job he was very prompt...he showed up every day at the exact time he indicated. He finished the job as quickly as he could (I had to delay the job 5 days because some custom tile I purchased was on back-order.) Karl was gracious about the delays and was quick to go above & beyond the call of duty. He made 2 trips out to the tile distributor to pick up materials on my behalf. Karl is great to work with and the quality of the finished product is top notch. Trust me, you just met your new tile guy.

When the contract was signed Karl came out within a week. He started with demonstration work. He kept everything clean and furniture was covered. All work was done fairly fast and looks great. The bathroom looks great with the new tile and design. Karl gave me so many options with design and grout color. The kitchen was a little more trouble because of the sub-floor. The sub-floor was not sturdy for tile, so Karl re-enforced the floor and installed wonder board. If it was somebody else they would not have done this and the tile would have came up. Overall he was great and done a great job. I would recommend him to everyone.

Before the job started Karl had a lot of examples and suggestions which were very helpful. We picked out the tile at the store and Karl went in, purchased it and brought it up to our condo which was nice. The work was done in a timely manner. Considering how small of a work area we gave him to set up his equipment he did a great job keeping this organized and as mess free as possible when dealing with a wet saw. Our condo building can be difficult to work in (lots of rules about using the freight elevator, turning off water etc.) and Karl was very helpful when dealing with them. Overall we are very happy.
