Hegbom Remodeling put a tiled ceiling in. It was not installed correctly. All tiles were caulked along the wall because they cut incorrectly and had ragged edges. The caulk was to hide it. The whole pieces were also caulked because they sliced them rather than fitted properly. Drywall was not done right, taping and mudding was done badly. All scraps were laid in a corner behind a fireplace wall, to save me money on hauling it away. I was made to pay $70 to haul away the drywall scraps, which was not part of the original estimate. 6 of the 11 doors in the basement had not been cut correctly to fit. They cut out the blocking to make the doors fit, but never replaced it properly. This is going to cause the doors to peel and warp. My new contractor has had to replaced the blocking in order to plane the doors so they would fit with the new carpet. The doors couldn't be planed since the blocking was removed and thrown out by Hegbom. The shower surround was never caulked on the top right, this would have caused a major leak. When he put the shower faucet in, he never braced the faucet which made the handle fall out. My new contractor had to drill a hole in the wall to get in there and brace it properly. None of the baseboards match. The wood is different on each one, it looks like they were scraps from other jobs. All the outlets were installed upside down. He told me that it didn't matter, but it does. Its a safety matter and the grounders should be on the bottom. Hegbom blames some of his equipment being "fried" on a previous contractors faulty electrical work. However, none of his stuff "fried" until after his crew started working on the electrical. My previous contractor was a registered, licensed electrical contractor. Hegbom promised me a walk through at the end. I had to beg for the walk through and when I was pointing out things that were noticeable, he asked me what he was supposed to do about it? There are spots near my furnace where the drywall wasn't taped, which my new contractor said that isn't up to the fire code standards. The painter that Hegbom hired painted the walls and ceiling the same color because he admitted to not knowing how to cut in. During the semi walkthrough, I told Hegbom about the painter and he made it a point that HE would do the ceiling, however on the last day he told me wasn't going to paint the ceiling in the hallway because he "really didn't feel like it, to be honest." Hegbom keeps trying to say that he went above and beyond for me, that there were things he didn't charge me for - that includes the plastic covering, which was originally mine! I even have the receipt. Also, the plastic wasn't laid until 95% of the drywall was already done so the dust was everywhere already. On the final day, when I was trying to get him to complete the walkthrough and was trying to show him the errors he told me "I knew from the beginning that it was going to be this way with you. Nothing makes you happy." Right, I'm not going to be happy spending $17,000 on a poor job. He said that I was his first complaint in 25 years! I had to send Hegbom a certified letter to get my house key back, which he didn't respond to, resulting in me having to have the police collect it. I paid him in full, assuming that there would be a final walkthrough. I have pictures documenting the poor workmanship and now I just want my money back.
