07/22/2016 I contacted Mike DeRosa around April 26th, 2016 to repair a leaking fuel run and gas lines in a vacant apartment. He shared with me that he was getting a divorce and requested payment to be made in his name. I complied since I needed work done asap. I requested from him up front a copy of his certificate of insurance showing workmen's comp. He assured me by phone and text messages his "insurance company would fax over" what I needed. I have documentation of our text messages. He started work on April 27th. He was paid in full that day. He returned the following day because the gas line did not hold pressure, After assuring me he had workmen's comp insurance, he ignored my text and phone messages. I found his office manager (Ruthann) from other reviews and she indicated she would get this done. She called later to find out how much we paid for the job. After that call, we did not hear from her and no replies to my phone calls. I left a final voice message. To my surprise, he called our Resident Manager and asked that we fax to him our contact information. We called and texted to confirm receipt of the fax but no reply. On June 7, 2016 my last resort was the Better Business Bureau, complaint number is 11486505. I requested an invoice, lien waiver and certificate of insurance showing workmen's comp. On July 18, I received an email from the BBB with his reply and I quote, "we apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused any party involved, our company is in the process of relocating and just a little busy at present time. I understand the importance of customers and value their business. Requested documents have been sent by way of United States Postal Service as we speak. I hope this satisfies the situation and again i apologize. "On July 20th, I received the service invoice, lien waiver and an affidavit of exemption for worker's compensation. I have done business with many contractors over a long period of time. I have never heard of anybody or experienced anything like this.

Talked to multiple plumbers and HVAC guys but Mike was more knowledgeable (especially about City permit requirements for running flexible gas lines) and was one of the most reasonable bids. He fit me in between jobs and was available after the job was done for follow-up questions. Highly recommended!
Description of Work: I needed someone to run a new gas line when we relocated our washer from the basement to 2nd floor.

Initially introduced to this company via a Home Warranty Provider. They diagnosed and repaired our furnace initially, so when it appeared that a replacement was needed, we had them perform the work. I have good things to report about everyone at the company. I dealt with Mike regarding the pricing and availability issues and was very satisfied with the competitive pricing he offered. Gabe performed the replacement / installation services. When Gabe completed the installation, he cleaned-up, leaving the work area as clean as it was when he arrived (rare for the majority of contractors we have been exposed to). There was no damage to our property and the project was performed punctually and a promised. The operational characteristics of the new unit were explained and we were provided with all necessary instructions and the manufacturer's information and warranty forms. I would highly recommend Derosa's for all of your HVAC needs!

I received several bids to install central a/c and heat in a house with none. Mike's bid was significantly lower than 2-3 other companies and about the same as another small family operation. I went with Mike because I felt I could trust him and he would listen to my concerns. The work was completed in a decent amount of time, the guys were always pleasant and the system and duct work look good. I noticed that there was only insulation on the ducts in the crawlspace and not on the remainder in the basement. This concerned me simply because I had specifically asked when discussing the bid whether there would be insulation and I was told 'I always insulate'. I decided to give it the benefit of the doubt and see if all worked well. I called them a few weeks later because the a/c runs non stop and seems to really struggle to get down to 70 degrees - it takes several hours to drop 2 degrees, the ducts get so much condensation built up on them that it drips onto the basement floor and the master bedroom has virtually no air flow and stays several degrees warmer than the rest of the house even when shutting dampers to the rest of the house, leaving the bedroom door open, leaving the bedroom curtains closed and installing a register booster fan. When I called, I spoke to Mike and mentioned our conversation and how he said he always insulates. He said something to the effect of 'yeah I always insulate where insulation is needed, insulating all of the duct work would have been a waste of time and money'. I mentioned the bedroom temperature and he said it's like having an upstairs that doesn't get as cool as the lower floor. The problem is I only have one floor and this is a brand new system with never before installed duct work, I feel that it should work well if all new. Mike didn't express any interest in coming to take a look at my issues so I left it at that. The experience was good throughout until this point and I am disappointed that the a/c doesn't cool very well. It makes me wonder if I should have gone with a different company.

DeRosa's did an excellent job. During the summer they arrived a little later than their estimated time and did not call me to let me know. The receptionist was a little short with me as I was trying to get more information, but the service technicians were very polite and professional. They answered all of my questions and seemed knowledgeable.
Description of Work: In the summer, DeRosa's cleaned out our compressor in our air condioner when it stopped working. In October, they fixed our pilot light for our furnace. Each service took less than half an hour to diagnose and fix. We had a different technician for each service and they were both polite and knowledgeable.

Our home warranty company sent us to DeRosas and I am so glad they did (It's easily the best outcome of having a home warranty). They've done work on our boiler in the past (EXCELLENT) and this time they responded quickly to our broken A/C. Ruth Ann is so responsive. Even though it was in the 90s and they had a ton of emergency calls, I always received a quick response to my calls. They kept me informed (in great detail) during the whole repair process and let me know what to watch to see if future repairs were needed. It was clear they have pride in their work and it is nice to be working with a family business. Please note, the price noted on this repair is my HSA warranty deductible and cleaning fee. I will use them for all future heating and a/c work and will recommend them to friends.
Description of Work: Replaced a blower motor and fully cleaned the system.

They were excellent. They had problems finding one of the parts. They kept in constant contact with me. They let me know every step of the way what was going on because it was 90 degrees and we had no air conditioning. We went and bought a window air conditioner and they said we shouldn't have done that. They said that they have got some window air conditioners with them for customers in case of emergency. They went out of their way. Our air conditioning was done under a home warranty, so there was no price issue there. We also had the gas line go out. The part that they were having a problem getting had to do with our furnace because our furnace was very old and trying to get the coil was an issue, so their office manager suggested to me that what she could do is get the gas company out to inspect my furnace because it was very old and if they fail it then the warranty company was going to have to provide a new furnace and it would be a non issue with the coil. We were almost a week without air conditioning just because we couldn't get that one part. I called the gas company and they came out to inspect and when they inspected they found a broken gas pipe under the house, so they shut off our gas. We had no air conditioning and no hot water. I called the home warranty company and they sent a plumbing company out to do the work which tried to rip me off. They lied to the warranty company to charge a lot of money in their favor and on top of that they told me that I had to pay $1500. They told that it was going to cost a lot of money to replace the piping because the pipe was broken. Derosa's Heating A/C Refrigeration came over one day and they said they could do the gas line and they ended up doing the gas line too. Their price was $1700 less than the other company. The warranty company paid it. Their price was decent. They didn't replace the pipe. They brought a lot of fittings and stuff in my utility room up to code because they weren't up to code, so they put emergency shut off for my hot water heater and every place where the gas pipe went and they put additional safety fittings on there. They were extremely responsive. We were not dissatisfied with anything. We would absolutely use them again in the future.
Description of Work: We used Derosa's Heating A/C Refrigeration to fix our air conditioning unit. We also had the gas line go out and they fixed it.

We made the appointment with no hassle and Mike called on his way over to make sure we were available. He went right to work and took care of our cleaning, reporting what he had done and reassuring me the cleaning was needed since the heat could have gone out due to a dirty system. One other note: if you search for Derosa's contact information, the internet has two bad phone numbers for them (and they can't remove them thanks to the wonderful lasting power of google). Their correct phone # is: 636.795.8545 (I didn't look to see if it's correct on Angies, so disregard if it is ... I just wanted people to be aware of the error if they search via google for Derosa's).
Description of Work: We were introduced to Derosa's H&C through our home warranty, HSA, for an emergency call-out for our A/C going out two years ago. Since then, we've used Derosa for annual maintenance. The owner, Mike, came out and took care of our furnace cleaning (which was needed for our older system). Mike is very matter of fact, punctual, and takes great care to make sure your happy as a customer. He didn't talk over my head, but also didn't patronize me when discussing the fact that our baffles needed to be adjusted, the pilot light hood was partially plugged, and the burners were a little dirty. I really like their service and the fact they call before they arrive to make sure you're available. Great service.

Work performed under HSA Home Warranty, and, contrary to the comments made in the recent Angie's List magazine article, the technician was absolutely outstanding - first class work, performed methodically, carefully and professionally, even though he got to my house at around 6pm on a Friday and still had another two calls to go to.
Description of Work: Testing to see why home was taking so long to fall in temperature. Checking of furnace and outside air condenser. Cleaning of exterior "silver fins" on condenser. Check on freon. Explanation that I had been cleaning the wrong part of the condenser - priceless!!

My AC unit stopped blowing cold air. I have a home warranty with a $100 deductible. They dispatched Derosa's. I had never heard of this company. They arrived precisely as promised. The technicians were professional and friendly. Within a few minutes they diagnosed the problem to be a blown capacitor. And just like that my system was restored to service. I will not hesitate to contact them again for my future needs.
