This was a horrible experience! As a first time flipper, I was extremely lucky to get this house sold and get most of my money back. (Did end up being a semi-minor loss.)
Description of Work: Mike Vacko is a scam artist!! He was recommended by our Realtor, so I figured he would do a good job, since it was a fix and flip. On our walk through of the house we told him that we wanted to keep the same layout in the kitchen, keeping a peninsula on the kitchen cabinets and we did not want an island because it was a small kitchen and it wouldn't fit. When the cabinets were installed there was neither. I spoke with him and he said we said we didn't want a peninsula and it would cost more to add one. He never pulled any permits, and when I realized there were no permits, I emailed him a copy of one that the village required to take care of some issues that I had to put up an escrow, he said he never got the email and I never sent it, even after looking directly at my sent email and telling him the date and time I sent it, a couple hours after our initial walk through. I ended up having to pay $600 in fines for not having permits. A new A/C was being installed (again no permit) and the HVAC guys were putting it in the walkway, luckily I walked up at the same time. They told me that based on the quote that Vacko gave me it had to go where they were installing it, that it would cost another $300 to move it to the other side of the house where there was no walkway. When the inspector came the A/C was supposed to be in the back of the house, so it had to be moved anyway. Vacko told me that if we didn't have them move it to the other side of the house then it would have been covered, another $600. Later, talking to the HVAC guy, he told me that Mike told him to put it where ever he needed to, to keep the cost at our quote, and it was on us to get it moved. When we did our final walk through, the work in the basement could have been done better by a 3 year old. There was a hole in the wall covered up by duct tape and painted over, along with other screws and nail holes painted over. When we asked him about the holes, he told me drywall repair wasn't included in the quote! Seriously?! Who the **** paints without patching holes?! 1 small container of spackle only costs a few dollars. The ceiling looked like it had been wet at some point and painted over. It was sloppy work all over the entire house. His subs were contacting me, because they weren't being paid. One, even threatened to put a lien on the house. Please do yourself a favor and DO NOT work with this guy!! Hopefully he will be out of business soon!

With only two days till our planned construction start. We were scrambling to find a new contractor to do the work. Good thing there are honest construction companies in Plainfield that stepped up to the plate, rearranged their schedules and fit us in on very short notice.
Description of Work: The provider gave us a good estimate and strung us along until 2 days before the construction was to start and fell out of existence.

They are very honest, and polite. I did not have any issues dealing with them. What we agreed on, they delivered for me. He was great. He was committed. He returned all of my calls, and we made a lot of calls. He was patient. He answers emails and texts any time of the day. I have two kids who had made a mess and he painted the wall for me again at no charge. He gave me a guarantee that whenever anything breaks that he will come back and fix it at no extra charge.
Description of Work: They remodeled my basement and did a great job. He helped me finish my basement that is more than 100 sq. ft. He put a kitchen together, helped me with the bathroom. He painted the walls and doors. He did everything.
